- It's been almost a whole year since I filmed myself and posted! I want to finish my last year with a bang. With that being said, my company's juniors signed a very special document that every student at USNA signs declaring our commitment to serve a minimum of 7 years in the Navy or Marine Corp, 2 years of school at USNA and 5 years of minimum commitment in the fleet.
If you didn't know, my name is Justin Chu and I am currently a junior studying Robotics and Control Engineering at the US Naval Academy. I currently play Division 1 Water Polo at USNA and am looking into making new vlogs about my journey in college.

Got a question for my daughter who is applying, maybe you could do a video cause I can’t find this anywhere….what do you wear during class time, free time on yard, study time ect…to me it seems like it would suck to have to be in full uniform ALL the time when not in room, especially during class when you’re trying to be as relaxed as possible learning

My Goal is to go to USNA I am 13 but I wanted to know if there is anything I can do now to help acheive my goal and if this is too early let me know when I can start and what to do. Lastly, do you think that if in seventh grade you had known that you wanted to go to USNA do you think that all that time to prepare would have helped yourself greatly in getting admitted? JC, just wondering when this was done, at the start of the 2nd class year or the end? When I went there, the first day of Academic Year was the commitment that you would serve at least 5 yrs active duty as enlisted if for some reason you don't finish at USNA. and when you get commissioned, you owe 5yrs active, total 7yrs active/reserve, unless you go aviation.. which is more. We didn't have a special ceremony and I don't recall signing anything, maybe just a visit to the company officer, but that was almost 40 yrs ago (damn I'm old).
This is beginning of their 2/c year. Right before the fall semester started for them. Thank you for your service sir.

How many commit to not serve "in the fleet" per se, but in the SEALS. When you say "in the fleet" I envision that as on a ship, I'm sure I'm wrong, but I do know SEALS sign a SEALS contract on the enlisted level, I thought it worked the same for officers out of the academy. Correct me if I'm wrong on this.
