OMG HE NAILED THIS. You even did the octave fuzz pedal part! Most people think its Adam that does that. This is truly a bass song that has some guitars. You highlight the beauty of this song perfectly. Good job brother.
This video actually inspired me to pick up a bass and have been playing for about a year now. I have absolutely loved it ever since and learned almost every Tool song (even though I don't have effects). Thank you Brad :)
ya know, for the longest time, i didnt like tool, but now their definitely growing on me, and this song is pretty much the reason, amazing bass work. love it.
Awesome cover. Very clear audio and video, as well. I really like that you even had all of the gear to mimic the quality of the bass throughout the song. Top notch.
Dude that was the fucking shit. I've been playing bass for 15 years and in touring bands for 8 years, that is a masterful control of tone with fantastic clarity and accuracy. Rock on man.
cool thanks Jesus bassplayer jammin at churches. You did a great job. I stay away from playuing out except church gigs because of my recovery. Sober this time since Aug 2002. Thanks for your vid it really helps.
You've definitely improved from your first cover, no doubt there. I think this is as close as anyone gets to Justin's tone and 100% note perfect on the song. Great job.
Damn dude you rocked the ending so sickly,, I like your effects also so you their up the tabs so I can learn the chorus,, thats the only part I'm lackin, I learned the rest ear and it fucking fun to play
It definetly depends. If you're just starting a squier VM jazz is often highly recommended for its versatility, as is the Ibanez GSR200. Both are good begginners basses. Both are around 200-300 usd. More genre specific, Schecters, Ibanez's, ESP's, Fender p bass, and Warwicks are all more Rock/Metalish, while jazz basses are more versatile and...jazzy. Hope that helps.
University of South Florida? I made my exchange semester there last fall... gosh if i had known, we could have met at marshall center and maybe play together a little! ;) greetings from germany!
Hey dude i love your cover! Im currently learning this song and this video will help me immensely so thank you :) I was wondering if you had a tab for it?
i've been playing bass for two months now. i got a Fender precision bass from about 100$ off ebay. works perfectly and was in new condition. you don't need a 3000$ bass.
@TOOLbassplayer I have witnessed Justin use his pinky in Rosetta Stoned while striking the Chords. I've seen it twice, so I'm pretty sure I'm right. But for anything else, I have not seen him utilize his pinky.
I believe it’s chorus, delay, flange, distortion and whammy pedal. I’m pretty sure that’s what Justin chancellor uses for his solo parts as well, such as “the pot”
By some Christmas Miracle (yeah they DO exist!) I bought a Bass Whammy w/ the original Power Supply and it should be delivered soon. Do you have any tips/hints/statements/queries that would help me out before I try it out?
Oh the irony, my bass player just bought a 2001rb and a neo 4x12 cabinet! Could you throw me some of the setting you use to achieve justins tone? I'd really appreciate having the ability to mess around with the amp a little better. Thanks
@cenyan13 If you listen to the track it is not a slide but justin's fingers sliding on the strings but not an actual slide note. If you listen with good headphones to this video you will hear i do the same exact thing. Thank you
@TOOLbassplayer do you need a distortion petal? because i just learned this song in 2 days without distortion. it sounds pretty damn good. but your cover its amazing dude 5/5
Perfect as usual Brad, but my one question is about the delay. Which settings do you use, you know like clock hand wise I guess? Mine seems close to bein right, but every time I fiddle with it it either makes it too much or not enough.
The amount of effort that went into getting that solo EXACTLY right...well done.
OMG HE NAILED THIS. You even did the octave fuzz pedal part! Most people think its Adam that does that. This is truly a bass song that has some guitars. You highlight the beauty of this song perfectly. Good job brother.
this video is now Featured on the Wal Bass Myspace page. thanks for the awesome upload!
This video actually inspired me to pick up a bass and have been playing for about a year now. I have absolutely loved it ever since and learned almost every Tool song (even though I don't have effects). Thank you Brad :)
Great cover
Nicely done! Especially that weird stuff with the knob
That was without question the best cover I have ever seen or heard!! I wish I was HALF as good.
ya know, for the longest time, i didnt like tool, but now their definitely growing on me, and this song is pretty much the reason, amazing bass work. love it.
Awesome cover. Very clear audio and video, as well. I really like that you even had all of the gear to mimic the quality of the bass throughout the song. Top notch.
one of the best Tool covers on youtube!
nice song, brilliant cover
Dude that was the fucking shit. I've been playing bass for 15 years and in touring bands for 8 years, that is a masterful control of tone with fantastic clarity and accuracy. Rock on man.

Yeah! Im bassist too and i really like the part which starts at 4:03. Greaaaaat!!!!!!
Excellent job!
awesome cover!
Very nice work, Dude, I love your accuracy in tone and playing!
You've definitely improved from your first cover, no doubt there. I think this is as close as anyone gets to Justin's tone and 100% note perfect on the song. Great job.
Excellent cover, taught me a couple of things anyway
I wanted to thank you for the grudge video, you made me try harder to play that one. I hope if a new tool album comes up you do more vids.
amazing perfect awsome
Nice tone. Great cover
When I had trouble with "The Grudge" I came to your channel and watched what you did.
this is one of the hardest songs of ever !
you play too cool !
real impressive work
Damn dude you rocked the ending so sickly,, I like your effects also so you their up the tabs so I can learn the chorus,, thats the only part I'm lackin, I learned the rest ear and it fucking fun to play
Fantastic cover of a fantastic song, love it :)
Great cover! I'm actually trying to learn this and I realized why I've been messing up on the part after the intro.
he's too awesome, the way he makes his bass sing is almost perverted, i wish i was this good
Great cover man !!! seriously great cover.
Great quality, good job
Great cover, my friend is letting me borrow his bass and im going to use this for practice
Flawless.
nice hat :) along with bass and skills of course.
Just amazing. Thank you so much for posting this. Now I have a better chance of learning it myself :)
I wish i had the cash for those effects ! let alone the GK rig ! Awesome !!
Warwick rock basses are pretty awesome, i got it after my first bass and it has kept up to its name still :)
its not bad this, i like how u can really nail his sound on every aspect, first the twang and thump n then the distort...very nice.
It definetly depends. If you're just starting a squier VM jazz is often highly recommended for its versatility, as is the Ibanez GSR200. Both are good begginners basses. Both are around 200-300 usd. Yeah!! you used back track, now the timing is another checked point in perfection, way to go Brad!!
that was sick bro, loved it
Awesome!
Rock on man that was kick ass
thats really sick man!!
u really nailed this dude, keep it up
AWESOME. If you and Remi Zik got together and had a Love Child, the World would bow at his feet :)
What kind of bass is that? so freaking nice. so much tone.
amazing, keep it up!
University of South Florida? I made my exchange semester there last fall... gosh if i had known, we could have met at marshall center and maybe play together a little! ;)
greetings from germany!
Well done!
SUPERB!
How do you get so awesome?
Love the covers,Man.I'd love to do a collaboration with you on either "Schism" or "Sober".
Good job!
Hey dude i love your cover! Im currently learning this song and this video will help me immensely so thank you :) I was wondering if you had a tab for it?

Most impressive.
nice effect..
NICE PLAY DUDE!!!
Bravo!
Finally! ive been waiting for this!!! awesome man. all you need now is the the pot!
@TheShredway He uses a 300 m/s delay and lots of compression and fuzz as well.
@TOOLbassplayer I have witnessed Justin use his pinky in Rosetta Stoned while striking the Chords. I've seen it twice, so I'm pretty sure I'm right. But for anything else, I have not seen him utilize his pinky.
Man what pedals do you use? Sounds great
I believe it’s chorus, delay, flange, distortion and whammy pedal. I’m pretty sure that’s what Justin chancellor uses for his solo parts as well, such as “the pot”
Just realizing I’m replying to a 6 year old comment
@@kaozinferno5980 I think in one part it's the digitech synth wah
@@kaozinferno5980 It's a fuzz pedal
@@FunkadelicPancho No it's a fuzz pedal
That was rad and heavy.
Nice job!
When it comes to playing bass, you win.
By some Christmas Miracle (yeah they DO exist!) I bought a Bass Whammy w/ the original Power Supply and it should be delivered soon. Do you have any tips/hints/statements/queries that would help me out before I try it out?
AWSOME!!!!!!!!
I'ts the 3rd time i favorite this cover...
Wow awesome!!! ... even the same bass as Justin uses!
Good cover
Oh the irony, my bass player just bought a 2001rb and a neo 4x12 cabinet! Could you throw me some of the setting you use to achieve justins tone? I'd really appreciate having the ability to mess around with the amp a little better. Thanks
sounds awesome! how do you set up the eq on your bass?
@Punkmaggot7 yes, you use quite a few pedals if you want to do it right
you kick major arse brother!!! ;)
@cenyan13 If you listen to the track it is not a slide but justin's fingers sliding on the strings but not an actual slide note. If you listen with good headphones to this video you will hear i do the same exact thing. Thank you
@Astrodude55 I personally hammer them :/ You could always gallop with your ring/middle/index finger though.
USF!!! r u from here in florida? oh and great cover!
really good job dude!
at 4:04 are you using a whammy pedal and messing with the volume knob?
Micah Garrett I'm pretty sure it's a whammy bar
Its actually a whammy pedal and he is swelling the volume knob as well
Bassman 323 Pretty sure there isn't a whammy bar on that bass...
no shit,i'm talking about the pedal
@heavyduty718 Distortion/fuzz and a bass whammy on the 1 octave up setting
Thank you. Volume :-)
Any particular interview..............
@TOOLbassplayer do you need a distortion petal? because i just learned this song in 2 days without distortion. it sounds pretty damn good. but your cover its amazing dude 5/5
@raybone18 check out the description of the channel :)
and the one Justin plays is Wal :)
I'm in the middle of learning this song, its so frustrating
next song, Parabol
As USUAL! the playing is spot on.
My ONLY Criticism, a lil too much on the treble end, turn the treble knob a lil bit and it'll sound ear-gasmic.
Nice playing and awesome bass. But you rush those triplets a little.
Agreed
Nailed it!!
Perfect! I love the tone and bassline of Schism. Wish i had a better bass... =P
Perfect as usual Brad, but my one question is about the delay. Which settings do you use, you know like clock hand wise I guess? Mine seems close to bein right, but every time I fiddle with it it either makes it too much or not enough.
