Heaven hill was one of my favorite places we went.. got Parker’s, William heaven hill, Elijah Craig barrel proof, and a grenade.. I really enjoyed the food and experience at Bardstown and willet..
Sounds like you had a solid trip with lots of goodies, Shawn. Let us know what you think when you uncork that grenade. Bardstown and Willet were beautiful campuses. Cheers.
Indeed it was, Bruce. Later this year, we're doing a go-back-to review with that. One day I'll learn, the neck pour may be the first impression but never the best impression. I love me some Garrison Brothers.
We have always wanted to hit the Kentucky and the Texas trails. Looks like we'll be living vicariously through you lol. What I really wish is that we did it 20 years ago when there were no lines and you had your pick of whatever beautiful bottle you wanted while you were there. Great job!
I heard several people say the same thing. One tour guide said ten years ago they'd stand on the streets trying to get passerbys to come in. If they didn't they'd be bored all day. Today, they are booked up for months.
Me and my Girl watched this envious video... hopefully someday we can make this trek. Thinking if COVID era ever ends this would be an awesome trip. Happy belated New Year!
Great video, thanks! Just came back this past Monday with only one bottle! That's gotta be a world record, right? Treating me to a Joseph Magnus to celebrate Labor Day weekend!
I really look forward to doing a massive bourbon Haul the biggest in my life during the Kentucky Derby this year hopefully $3,000 will get me a nice little collection
Well played, Vegan. 3K should get you a really nice set of 30-50 bottles. Stay away from the Evan William red label. It's a $130 waste of money at their distillery. Other than that, go crazy and have the time of your life! Cheers.
Love the video. Very helpful for our trip in November. Weird question, if you are doing a tour, like at Heaven Hill, do you still have to stand in line or is that just to get in the gift shop?
You only need to stand in line to get into the gift shop if you want to buy there allocated whiskies that they sale each morning, Oscar. The line is gone by 11:00 am. Or if you are there for a tour, you don't need to wait in the line. Or, if you don't want to buy those whiskies, you simply want a shirt, then you don't need to wait in that line.
Great video and information! We will be in Louisville for a few days. Can you recommend 1 or 2 distilleries that have good tours and would not mind our older teenage children tagging along? Thank you!
For the experience of the tour itself, The Evan Williams Experience is a can't miss. That was easily our favorite tour. I'd also highly recommend the James Pepper tour. That is worth it just to see the campus. James Pepper has the most fan friendly environment with additional things to see and do that surround the distillery. Bardstown Bourbon Co has a great campus and a great rick house tour! They allow you to bottle your own whiskey and they are the only distillery with a bar inside their rickhouse. So, that is neat to see in itself. Best of luck and have fun!
Appreciate the video and tips. I'm going to Kentucky at the end of March. I've booked my tours (24 I believe) and have modified my travel plans multiple times. Unfortunately I'll miss a few just because of logistical issues. A couple of questions. You answered in a previous question that you purchased everything in the shops at the distilleries. Are the products and prices the same as the liqour stores? I have already researched where I can find certain products in stores so I'm interested if I can save a trip and find what I want at the distilleries at the same prices. Also, I won't be in Louisville until day 3 of my travels. Once I've started the trail, is the Frazier Museum still worth visiting? If so, how long should I plan for that visit?
Heaven Hill's products are all sold at MSRP. I didn't notice a huge hike on bottles on the trail. The only distillery that really jacks up their price, in my opinion, was the Evan Williams Experience. We paid $130 for their red top (only sold there and in China) and it is really only worth maybe $30. We paid $100 for their Distillers Blend and it too was not worth that price. With that said, The Evan Williams Experience was hands down in my top 5 of the tours. They put on a fine display. Funny you should mention the Frazier Museum. We have a special episode coming out in July about them. Yes, I really liked the museum. They have some really old bottles and a really neat interactive touch screen that was fun. Also, if Steve is there, and you call ahead and ask him, he'll likely do a tasting with you at the museum and put it on his UA-cam show, ua-cam.com/users/FrazierMuseum With that said, that was prior to covid and I'm not certain he's brought back the tastings. But, it's worth an ask.
Great question, Ronald. 1) Evan Williams for their tour presentation. 2) Bardstown for their state of the art campus, corn fields, and they have the only bar inside of a rickhouse in the state. 3) James E. Pepper for their entertainment centered campus. 4) Heaven Hill...because they're Heaven Hill. 5) Jim Beam because they just reopened after a $1 Billion revamping of their campus.
Awesome video! My wife and I are hitting the trail in September (2022), we have never done it before and are complete newbies! I'm a little overwhelmed with trying to plan this and am not sure where to start, we will be there 4 maybe 5 days. Did you guys pick a hotel/VRBO in a central area as a base of operations, or did you move around following the trail? Suggestions please! Thanks again!
4-5 days is the perfect amount of time, Anthony. We went to Lexington, Louisville, Bardstown, and hit a few small towns along the way. We picked a centrally located hotel in each town. We knew we would be drinking and therefore wanted to limit our need to drive. Lexington was very easy to walk to a distillery, take a tour, pick up the bottles we wanted, & walk them back to the hotel while sight seeing along the way. Step one is booking our distillery tours as soon as possible. You will find that if book a hotel first, the distilleries you want to visit may not be available that day. So, tours go fast, focus on that first. Then get a hotel. You can always Uber to and from but the tours sell out quickly.
amazing video. Congratulations!!! your collection of bottles is very nice, I admire it a lot. strong hug.
Thank you so much, Mamu! 😁
Wow. You went big. Looking forward to seeing all the Reviews. Cheers
Gotta go big or go home, as they say. Cheers to you!
Great video I’m glad I got to meet your new kids!
Lol, yeah they are good kids. Their quiet, well behaved, and get along really well together!

My grenade was fantastic!! The Parker’s heavy char bourbon is amazing also..

The balmorea is the Garrison Bros you were talking about. Love it!

Looks like there's a lot more KBT content to digest in the coming weeks! Can't wait.
Heck yes, WC. Much more to come!
Congrats on the addition lol. This lot looks delicious and quite the haul!
Delicious indeed.
Me and my Girl watched this envious video... hopefully someday we can make this trek.
Thinking if COVID era ever ends this would be an awesome trip. Happy belated New Year!
The trip is addictive. You can't possibly see everything in one trip and every distillery brings a whole new experience. It is a blast!
Hitting the Bourbon Trail in September! Thanks for the video with tips. Does Heaven Hills have certain bottle releases every morning?
Yes, but you never know which ones will be sold that day until they come out and announce them 5 mins before they open for business. Happy hunting!!!
Great video, thanks! Just came back this past Monday with only one bottle! That's gotta be a world record, right? Treating me to a Joseph Magnus to celebrate Labor Day weekend!
Very nice, Rod. One bottle...now that is some self control! The Joseph Magnus will start any weekend off right.
I want to plan a bourbon and golf trip down there! Thanks for the info
That will be a fun time!
Nice trip 👏🏻👏🏻🥃🥃
Yes it was! We had so much fun.
Pepper is at the Distillery District downtown Lexington. They've opened a great new hotel down there if you want to stay within walking distance.
That was my favorite distillery to visit. It is more like an entertainment district than just a distillery. Great call, Chay!

@@MultiCasking if you are there for a tour, can you beat those who are in line to buying the allocated bottles?

Lol well played.

If only there for 2 days which ones are a must?

How did you get all this home? We are flying and I’m a bit concerned how we are getting any bottles home.
We drove and brought extra towels with us to act as shock absorbers. An option that I've seen done is to ship it back to yourself before you fly out.

Where are y’all from?
Hey there, Mark. We hail from Kansas.
How many of these bottles came from distillery gift shops ?
Everyone of the bottles you see on the bar came from the shops. We didn't display the bottles we purchased at Total.
Did u guys go to Green River Distillery in Owenboro, Ky
We did not. That might just be the one regret we have of planning our trip this year. That and Wilderness Trail.
Whoa I thought I had a lot of booze. Keep Chugging my friends
Soooo much lol. But we can't hold a candle to Matt's collection from Whiskey Crusaders though. He's a whiskey legend!
How can a 2 year old video be titled Kentucky Bourbon Trail 2024?
Great question. The answer is there have been no new distilleries opened on the trail since.
Balmorhea!,,,,,
Agreed, Colin!
