Good vid man. I have an 8 FQ330 here in the UK & for sure rust is the biggest issue over here. I looked at about 5 cars before buying the 8. All were 9's & had lots of rust & expensive premiums. the 8 was best condition but still has some light rust i need to rectify.

You don't have to be disillusioned to believe the evo will be worth as much as the mk4 supra in the future. The mk4 supras are going for almost 200k for the really clean examples 70-80k for the clean high mileage stock ones. The evos in 2023 will probably exchange hands at around 50-60k for clean low mile ones. A clean high mile one will probably still demand a price close to their like new MSRP. The tommi evo 6 versions are already exchanging hands at double their MSRP regardless of miles as long as they're clean. An evo really is a car you cant lose money on if you wait for the right buyer, which for an evo will definitely come along, within a few months.

Owned an Evo 9 from new (2006) with now 37K miles on the clock. I am having it resprayed though as the red has faded over the years, and the clear coat has microscopic holes in it in places (roof mainly). I will check it again on rust, but I don't think it's an issue with mine. I was surprised to see the value go up at one point, and it now may be close to the price I bought it for. It's completely stock (with OEM VG and winglets) apart from the downpipe (from an MR 8), a free flowing exhaust (kept the main cat though) and a careful remap on the stock ECU (erring on the side of caution) to about 360 BHP, with drivability over high power. Zero issues at the yearly mandatory check, zero issues over the 13 years. I will probably keep it for another 5 years and see from there. The (same color) respray may or may not make it lose some value, I'm not sure, but I can prove it's purely for cosmetic reasons (aka I don't want a pink-ish car ;-) ) I recently did a full detail on it to make it look as good as new, but polishing only goes that far; the color fade is under the clear. I had a very heavily modified Impreza (MY99) before that, and I learned from my mistakes in chasing high power with that one. Needless to say I'm still over the moon with this car, certainly the cheapest I ever owned.
@stringer bell You'll probably know it varies depending on the situation - some parts will be just scuffed and base/clear added, others like the bonnet will be fully sanded/primed etc. as it has a lot of repaired stone chips. In total it will be around 3K EUR (with the roof & bumper already done as a test of both the car and the painter's skills). Not the cheapest, but he wants to make sure it's in perfect condition before I get it back (showcase project for him) - however I will do wet-sanding/polishing where & if needed myself. Judging on the roof, it may just be polishing. Gyeon MOHS/Skin/Cure to protect.

That's a really interesting question. As always, it depends. Believe it or not, if we are talking 996 and 997 generation, the interior quality of the M3 is better than those 911. That may be controversial, but I've owned both, and the interiors in 996 and 997 are bad by German car standard. They did a lot of cost savings during that period of time. The only 996 I would own over a E92 M3 would be a GT3 or Turbo. And either of those cars are big money. A 997 would be a tougher decision, but it really boils down to what you are going to use it for. The M3 is a better daily. The 997 is a little more pure and fun to drive. You can't go wrong with either, but make sure you have some money saved up for repairs. :)
I just found a black Evo 8 at a small dealer in my home town. It's stock with 88,500 miles on it. They want $27900 for fuck sake. I don't even think a bank will finance a 2005 car worth that much.

A lot of mr drivers after that happens switch to the 5 speed! Just saying, my daily driver for the last 14 years has been my evo 8, no problems with the transmission!
Interesting, didn't know that.
We got the mr version earlier on the 8 in the u. K! 😁
Best looking CT9A........Evo 7
Im confused about seeing one EVO 9 GT. is there such a model?
Great video man!
Appreciate it!
Need more Evo videos!
c t9 was also in evo 7 not just 8-9
Thanks for this awesome info
Nice video! 04 RS had a steel roof. 05/06 had aluminum.
how many 8s and 9s was produced in total?
Acd pump doesnt control front to rear control to my knowledge, i thought it controls how the diff locks up based to the surface its on
you just said the same thing
@@shivansohan6903 same thing as what?
The 5 speed box handles power better than the 6 speed
Here’s a tip from someone that owned 3 - DONT. Buy a Honda Civic or Toyota Camry and save money until you can buy something good 🤣
??????
@Qu_ Hectic Let's see your cars :) You probably have the civic or Camry i'm talking about lmfao
What happened to yours? I daily mine lol. All 3 of yours broke? Bad luck? I supposed u bought the transmission abused? I never launch my car barely red line it. Oil change every 3k miles all fluids up to date. It really is about care you go into these cars. Not a honda to beat on lmfao.
I saw one for under 2k, should I try grabbing it? Was thinking of going for an 02 IS300 before I saw that
One under 2k?? How??
Get it, you wont regret
How's the maintenance on those?
Great advice 👍
I own a 04 RS . I think that the 8 is the best looking (in the usa) the evo 8 is the only evo ever that has a nose.
What do u recommend evo 8/9
The 9 is better in about every way, but obviously it's more expensive.
@@EatSleepDrive what price are we looking at
Way too biased towards the newer model. The IX may have MIVEC, but that's not enough reason to want the newer model
The Evo VIII FQ340 was the dogs bo$#%cks and still is. Class and guts. My dreamcar since I first saw it & fell in ❤
Almost 2 decades later now (2021) and if I had millions of pounds, I would be out there getting this first, above anything else, and it's keys would now be hanging on my keyrack now.
For me no other car, whether sports or luxury, has ever got close to this and never will. My ❤ forever belongs to the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII FQ340
I had a 2005 evo 8 GSR back in 2005-2007 i sold it and regret it! It was 350whp which back then was fast. 12 years later im now looking to get another EVO. Not sure if I want another 4g63 or try the 4B11's on the EVO X's. I want a white evo X or another silver evo 8
350 WHP back then was absolutely insane. That was like Harrison Ford light speed in 2007. lol
Zac Paul lmao yeah it was. The v8 to beat back then was that 6.0 GTO. i would beat them all the time.
@@javi_335i Hell yeah my friend! 2007 was a good year! Cars were still mostly analog and I still had hair!
Hard to say, Evo X are incredibly capable, but in my opinion they lost a lol of what made the older ones great.
Zac Paul lmao for real. And it was a whole different generation racing back then. Im 41 and still into racing.
Problems when trying to make higher horsepower numbers.... Lots of problems. Good luck bro
Come drive a 800 whp street built RS 😁 @mig_migs27 thx for the vid!
8:59 turning circle?
i wanna sell my brz after i pay it off and save up for one of these
Is this a good family car?
I mean it has 4 doors, but other than that not really. The crash test ratings on these are really bad, so I would be worried about putting a kid in the back seat.
Every one these has had crap beaten out of it on top of that they have stopped making them for years now
Evo's will sit a the current prices they're at for awhile. Its a buyers market. People will pay for what they think the cars worth.
Was your E55 faster?
Nah E55 wasn't this fast, mostly due to weight.
mine is about to hit 66 k!! SE also
I disagree. 03-06 Evo’s will most certainly be on the same “level” and as expensive as the Supra’s and Skylines
Is that road in Amelia Ohio? I think I live right next to you no joke.
Yes sir very close.
I know that I don’t have enough funds to buy one
They’re 2007 evo 9’s
Me & my father went to the local Mitsubishi dealership to shop for my first car the evo 9 mr on the show room floor (brand new had just come out) I begged my dad to co-sign for me, he of course said no when he saw the price tag, so I had a choice between a base focus, sxt neon or an eclipse, of course I picked the eclipse. 😅😭
Eclipse was the right choice lol
Can you used regular gas on the evos ?
Premium only.
The 4G63 has a fucking hydraulic lifters clicking noise that are a common issue...
I think this guy is wrong about the evo not going to the level of a nsx or supra
I hated the Evo 9 bumpers....wasn’t a fan.
These are so expensive!!
