Just a random rant, NOT aimed at Mikey OR at Pipe Doctor, but at other installers and in general. When you run an install assess NOT ONLY the site to see what equipment will work best but also THE CUSTOMER. Don't go with the wireless thermostats that need to be paired to the combi unit if the batteries are changed when the customer is someone in their 70s with a 20 year old tube TV. Yes it may be the latest tech, yes it may have advantages, but if the customer can't work out how to USE what is installed it isn't going to result in a happy customer or sustained business. (This happened in the UK, not the US, I ended up on an international video call to walk the customer (My Mother) through pairing the thermostat. (Bosch Greenstar 29CDi)
Symptom - rapid flash (2 per second) of the red LED on front of combi unit 30 minutes after changing thermostat batteries. No other indication from Combi unit OR Thermostat.
Solution - Cycle power to combi. Then press and hold recessed button n front panel 3 seconds until red LED flashes once per second.
On Thermostat, press OK to enter menu, scroll touch sensitive bezel round display until you get to 'Pair' - hit OK, 10 minute timer will start, pairing will start. When red light goes out on Combi the thermostat is paired. The thermostat will continue 10 minute count to zero.

Try a soft brass bristle little brush. Cleans well without being too aggressive.

Noble isn’t the brand. It’s the lochinvar model name of that unit.

a burst washer hose here, would just clean the old concrete floor really well and make me throw a few things away 🤣 floor drains and sump pump would handle it fine, it needs cleaned anyway and yes, they're bravely still the original machine hoses from early/mid 1990's. 🤪
4.5 year old Noble Lochinvar Boiler NKC 199 model. Tech came and relocated the outdoor sensor which fixed the Outdoor error code. Then the ignition error code came up 5 days later, so he came back and replaced the ignitor yesterday. Worked well for one day - same Flame Sense Ignition Failure code came up DURING a cycle (not new demand), but I hit reset it and it's worked fine all day - water and heat - no error codes? He's coming back out to take a look now. Any thoughts of the top of your head, Mikey?
Any ideas? Flame current micro amperage reading, combustion analysis, reading, and gas pressure. All the elementary stuff that a service tech would check during a repair service call
What about the Outdoor sensor error code? Do they not use the sensor in NYC? I have this Unit and they just relocated the outdoor sensor and now my flame ignition failure error showed up. I could clean it like you did but will bring the tech back out have them do it. Are these two connected errors? Thanks - love your videos!
Outdoor sensor and flame sensing failure are two different things totally coincidental

Question: Can you explain what is causing the unit to go into Lockout? I've had the same issue with my system and no solution has given me a long term fix.
These have voltage issues...they only have a 3 second interval to fire then they lockout.
I always use a dollar bill on flame rods and sensors..... BTW there is a Mikey pipes sticker on the back of my truck...... Cannot post photos here.

flame rod seemed awfully nasty for only a few years old. if I had to guess nasty intake air coming into the unit or they run very short bursts of hot water often, making it short cycle a ton. either way will schmutz the rods up faster and of course there's always the possibility of dirty wet gas supply.
Btw..no drip leg in nyc mike!! They think that is the way ppl steal gas or tee it into another another appliance...also its fine calling it scratchy paper

Use a wire brush in a drill to clean up old flame rods if your going to half ass and not replace them. If you need help with Lochinvar im your man, no homo! That was an ignitor by the way not a flame rod. It senses flame but its secondary
