  • This video shows how to diagnose an issue with the flow sensor in a Lochinvar Noble Combi. If the system you are servicing is only producing domestic hot water and not the space heat, check out this video to see if your issue has to do with a damaged flow sensor.

I am having the exact same issue. I also have a bit of corrosion. Do you know where I can purchase that sensor? Thanks for posting!

If you are in the Massachusetts area Plumbers Supply carry’s the parts for those.

@@theboilersmith Thanks. I messed around with the switch, got it to work, took a shower and now no heat nor hot water. Now I'm getting a Lockout ! Flow SW/
LWCO error. I don't think I'm gettting power to the Guard Dog LWCO.

I just want to follow up in casse anyone is experiencing issues with the Noble. It turns out I diagnosed the "no heat" was caused by theflow filter being calcified in the stuck on DHW. The temporary fix was to remove the switch from the filter. Lochinvar was very helpful in me getting my heat and hot water going. They did mention that the corrosion you see in this video (and more extreme in my case) was due to an overtightening of the washers. They have since come out with washers with a stainless steel ring that prevents over tightening. I swapped out both copper pipes in the unit with the new washers, replaced the transformer, and cleaned out the flow filter and all is fine. I cant say the average DIY'er shoudl attempt this fix because these combi boilers are complex, and you're dealing with gas, water and electricity. And they don't play well together. But through videos like this, I was able to diagnose my issues and fix my Noble for about $350. I considered a replacement, but was quoted $17,600 to swap out the unit or $6500 to do the repairs I did. Lochinvar was very good in helping me out, and was even surprised they admitted the product defect. I'm glad I went with a Lochinvar.

Hi I have the same boiler being used for heat and dhw. I had an issue regarding the boiler not reaching set temp for either the dhw or heat (set to 80c but only reaching about 40c). I noticed that the boiler had a constant domestic call even with the outlet turned off, I unplugged the sensor but the call still remained. I was wondering if these issues are correlated and how i'd go about fixing both of them. Thanks.

That sounds like a scale issue. If you haven’t had the domestic heat exchanger cleaned I would start with that. If it still is a problem after you will need to change out the flow switch.
