I love Deejay on this, and in everything he's done with them! I kinda wish Deejay was a permamember, but I wish the same of J None, Mykal, Anthony and Omar! And I'm SO glad they have Cesar now, he was a real catch! What's so impressive about J None is that he left to sing *bass* in the Navy band, which was why this was his last permamember recording with them. He'll always be a member in my book though! He's really a baritone who can sing bass or even tenor as he does in places here, and no matter the range he's in, it's beautiful. Layne has his own beautiful tone and the same range...plus beatboxing! We think of Eli as the high-tenor rock god now, but he really has a lovely lower bari-tenor range too. He can be smooth and blend perfectly or he can bring the edgy or gritty side with the flip of a switch! And he really exudes a compelling masculine energy even when he's singing in the rafters! And then there's Geoff. Geoff always says he's a baritone that can sing bass. LOL But the truth is he's a lovely freak of nature who can sing in any and all male vocal ranges with a gorgeous tone. I think that's kinda why J None was such a good fit with them...they are all so crazy versatile! This was so bittersweet and beautiful - a perfect, fitting "last" song with them. Thank God it has NOT been the last!
Jackson was the original artist to the best of my knowledge. Not sure who chose to do this cover, but possibly J,None as it was his farewell song when leaving to sing with the US Navy music section. He now sings bass with the Sea Chanters.
So nice to get a listen again after a while to that song and video, thank you for choosing this! I totally share what you said about the "MJ"-effect they have here. And I had a laugh, when you mentioned the two different Michaels. I immediately had a comic in my mind: "Pitchy & Scratchy" 🤣😄👌
Love having a cat mess with things! I've seen VoicePlay's and am hear to enjoy you hearing a new song to you. Feel free to comment. It seemed to me that it was a song that marks J None's change into the US Navy.
A goodbye to J. None. One doesn't mess too much with a classic! Beautiful harmonies. 🌹🕊
