For me, it is a pleasure to listen to you, because you help me to crystallize my own ideas. Because your life experience is combined with your special talent to look at things in depth, to their essence. That's right, many of us have understood ourselves better with the help of Nightwish music. For the most part, I think it's Tuomas's merit who "dreams" everything beforehand, but ALL the band members contribute to this, through their unique talent. And so, each of their songs becomes in our minds and hearts, a unique gem, a true work of art. We all Nightwish fans feel privileged to be contemporary with them, and we are happy for every person who comes in contact with their music, because we all know that that person's life gets richer. Looking forward to your next steps :)
I'd concur, but first Eric should read the 'Open letter to Tarja' to have a chance to understand the emotional rollercoaster that 'The Poet and the Pendulum' is
The poet and the pendulum is like fine wine let it breathe for a while let him do the open letter let him do 48 hours to learn the setlist let him breathe in a lot more Nightwish and then the appreciation level is appreciation level will be so much better........ That is something that Eric understands better is better than most reactors his appreciation of the is is appreciation of the process and the little details that go into everything involved in musis thing involved in music matters Eric understands completely that every little this little thing has meaning and has its place he has lifted he breathes it and now he exudes it and I'm learning from him and and he is very quickly becoming the best reactor I have ever Watched and listened to......
Don't know where in Gabriels list Dead Boys Poem is, hopefully not so far down, because that song is one of Tuomas most beautiful songs and he was just over 20 years when he wrote it. Was he 23 or 24. From the same concert Floor is just out of this world, just the first shot of Floor when the song starts is amazing. Your reactions are great to watch, thank you. I also think you should take a look at their new album Human Nature from 2020.
Not sure if I've listened to you carefully enough, but just to make sure you won't forget that Nightwish are essentially a Finnish band, Floor is a Dutchie, Troy is English, the rest are Finnish. Thank you for your insightful and interesting reactions, greetings from Finland
I gotta say something about NW is that sure some bands can produce good sounding songs. But I’ve never had a band that can have me listen to each song over and over and not get bored of. It’s a journey to each song that draws me in. I for some reason can’t put a finger on it? Maybe because much of their songs are structured so differently to the North American style that is not really get in music here?? You bring up Kai, he’s a technician like very few can do. Not the showman by any means but his drumming is flawless in my mind. You don’t have to be a showman to be one phenomenal drummer. I’m not gonna compare him Neil P. but he’s gotta be up there on the list of drummers. Jukka is good drummer too and won’t take a thing from his style either. He can blast those drums with best too. NW has to be one of the most collectively complete bands ever assembled with the talent past/present. They’ve lost a few members on their way but somehow find the next best for a replacement. It’s unreal! Just glad to see a fellow North American to take notice such a band that has little following over here and giving NW such high praise and just due to be noticed. Keep the rabbit hole going more and more us are waking up to their music. 🤘 Army member stationed up in Edmonton Alberta 🇨🇦
@@deed5811 crazy isn't..... sure I love my 80s rock but somehow or reason with Floor they've captivated my listening ears and opened my eyes to a whole new world of music. I want/ need to see this band live! Don't care if I gotta cross an ocean or a boarder to do so
Regarding Marko (“that dude is so metal”), he actually sings lead on two of Nightwish’s softest, gentlest songs…While Your Lips Are Still Red live at Wembley and The Islander live at Tampere. I think his voice on those two tracks will really surprise you (in a good way). His vocal versatility rivals Floor’s. In fact, he actually won the Finnish version of The Masked Singer a couple of years ago.
@@hansolo2121 you don't front your own band, Tarrot or win the masked singer by being just a back up singer. Whilst not quite as good as Floor, his vocal abilities are crazy. Especially considering that he had botched throat surgery that damaged his vocal cords and as a consequence had to relearn how to sing.
@@hansolo2121 yeah... I wasn't talking about her caring what we think or say. I was talking about opinions, and said that I bet that Floor's opinion of Marko's singing is different than yours. The point was that I am quite sure that Floor sees Marko as her equal in singing, even though they might have a little different skill sets. And I'm basing my guess for everything I have ever heard Floor saying about singing and about Marko. But you of course have a right to your opinion, even though you don't seem to know much about singing. 😁
Been a Nightwish fan since the beginning..So glad you've found them ..Certain individuals laugh that I'm a fan of this band being a Good ole American Trucker ..Come through Madison Tennessee alot ..Love the reactions brother. Keep them coming ..Nightwish is by far my number one band ..Even have the ink to back it up ..Lol lol
@@StergiosMekras Guess not ..Guess they think truckers all like that ho dunk po dunk well them there yehaw crap ..Natural Born 57 yr old Metal Head here 🤘🤘🤘
I don't know man...If I was a trucker, and I listened to Nightwish while working... no matter short or long trip, whatever destination...I would wind up in Finland...😊! In record time though...☺! With minimal regrets even...🤣 Have a good one Sir, stay safe!
I am 75 soon to be 76, what you say is quite true about nightwish. They are more than floor, because they produce, write, and compose their own music. I am glad you observe the entire band from the stage presence, the connection to their fan base, the lighting and coordination of the pyro. The total energy of the group.
c'mon Eric....don't go afoot now please. Stay with Gabriel's list....Don't ask for links and suggestions.....don't ruin your own journey!!!!! The fans know the songs....what we want to see is your amazement and reaction....that's what makes us happy.....The emotional honest journey!!!!
I enjoy your analysis of Nightwish and Floor. I have had a passion for music for over 50 years. For the last 20 years my focus has been instrumental surf music, instro metal and movie scores. I tend to avoid listening to music with vocalists. I would search UA-cam to feed my passion for my favourite instrumental music. That all changed 10 months ago when ago when I saw a reaction of Ghost Love Score live at Wacken. Since that time my musical focus has shifted to Nightwish and Floor. No other vocalist affects me like Floor. I look forward to seeing the Queen perform every day no matter the venue.
So much to address here and I don´t want to leave a comment that´ll take you half an hour to read through so I´ll try to be brief and to the point. Floor: In my former life in my youth I used to be an actor and in acting school and training we have a dicipline that revolves around being able to,- night after night,- experience the text/ the lyrics you have to deliver as if it were the first time you ever felt it, experienced it, said it ------ sang it! Floor is so on top of her actual singing technique that, like a 10th Dan black belt martial artist, she doesn´t have to ask herself:"Can I do it?"... but rather feels like: " HOW.. do I wish to feel, emote, experience, inflect, express and deliver THIS particular word, phrase etc. in this particular moment in time in this particular song",- one blistering atomic nano-second after another. From a technical and performance coaching standpoint it´s a combination of completly having drilled your technical abillity to it´s almost perfection,- and then letting go of it,-because in this moment it doesn´t matter.. all that matters is delivering the emotional content and meaning of this point of this phrase in this particular song... until she starts singing the next song of course,- where she will again be doing the same thing,- business as usual,- she´s that on top of things and that leaves her free to interprete every nuance of every song as she damn well pleases...and deliver them thusly.. Emppu: Emppu is, though unassuming, every vocal driven rock band´s dream guitarist,- he never tries to fill up the stage at every moment with his unbelievably awesome stage presence and ability to fill every little nook and cranny of the song with some epic guitar fill that, though nice, needn´t really be there. (Guitar player myself,- believe me,- I know this one). He´s just always there,- grinding those riffs out night after night with a big grin on his face,- and when the occasion and the song calls for it,- he´ll leisurely shred a solo at high tempo just because,- what the hell,- sounds good,- might as well.... Jukka´s playing was as thunderous and steady as a 100 coach freight train powering across the great plains and the prairies... Kai sounds like he´s onboard a runaway freight train carrying nuclear waste going full out down an Alaskan mountainside in a blizzard,- and in control of it at that... they are both awesome drummers.. Tuomas in the interview he gave in Sam Dunn´s docu: " The Evolution of metal ,- part 10: Power Metal" stated that he thinks of modern film composing as the modern day classical music,- so he just tries to write five minute scores of that about things he feels in his life,- and then he´s lucky to have a metal band with which to play them.. Basically,- Nightwish! On a side note: I don´t see any need to bash the US music scene about anything,- you guys have been a driving force in the creation of the modern world,- kinda hard to take that away from you,- so why even try?,- I just think that we non-Anglospehere European, Far Eastern and South American metal musicians are glad and happy that we can contribute to the pot with something unique and new to all you people in the US/ North American soundscape and radioland.... ´bout time. :) Long one,- and as brief as I could make it. My apologies. :)

"That dude is SO metal." Yes, yes, he is! Take a look at a 20-year-old Marko in Tarot's first video/tv appearance. (I'm not quite clear if this was filmed as a music video, or filmed for a tv show and turned into a music video.) From 1986 (and they look it, lol!) this is Wings of Darkness: ua-cam.com/video/VimogVM3i9Y/v-deo.html (Sorry for the Finnish over the intro, but the video quality is much better in this one than the one I've seen that doesn't have it. Oh, the guy on lead guitar? Marko's big brother Zachary.) And for yet another side of Marko, here's a home video (from 2010, looks like a phone camera, so definitely not professional quality) of him with his acoustic, singing Black Sabbath's Planet Caravan as a lullaby to Jukka's youngest: ua-cam.com/video/-XBZutbxSf4/v-deo.html
Pandemic willing my daughter and I (55 and 30 y/o) have plans to see them in Lowell, MA in May. We had only been fans for a few months but felt something in their music right away. I have seen it many times in reaction videos (when the reactor has done more then 4 NW reactions) that there is a great need for a larger metal thesaurus. The unused superlatives become in short supply in a short period of time with this band. Cheers and looking forward to the next reaction.
I mean Finland and Netherlands have had their respective metal recipes down for decades. Nightwish' current lineup is the perfect marriage, no wonder it elevated this gem of a band beyond anything. Love your reactions, they're my favorite thing on YT right now. :) Cheers from Finland!
There's an snippet of this song that always makes me giggle, while Marko is talking about this guy who is going after this gal but she wants nothin to do with him, Tuomas and Floor share a few sips of his bottle of wine, and it's kind of funny how she held onto it, like she didn't want to give it back, then Marko introduces the song, those are the little things that make me love them, besides their incredible performances
Hi Eric, great reaction video once again! Thx for your enthusiasm! One little detail to mention: Nightwish is a band from Finland, only Floor is dutch... :-)
Every day i check if you did a NW again😁 i really like all youre reactions, you are a special person, and you are alrady in top 5 for me in reactor land, the thing i love with you is how mutch you know about the ondustrie, thanksss
Love the voice of experince that you bring in these reactions, thank you. If you want to hear the other side of Marko’s singing (and another different type of Nightwish), I would recommend ”While Your Lips Are Still Red” live, Wembley 2015.
2 hours after being posted, you have 599 views and 129 comments. Safe to say you have been welcomed with open arms. It's your fault. You are that good. I see a request for Poet and the Pendulum in the comments. Normally I would caution you to do some research before you reacted to Poet and the Pendulum, because it is such a personal song for Tuomas and the band, AND the fans. Knowing WHY it was composed is a part of understanding the song. Having said that, you are the first reactor that I am not worried about. I trust you...You're not like all the others. lol
Just love this song and this recorded version in particular. Kai's drumming is phenomenal. Great reaction again fella. 🤘🏼 Edit... speaking of Jazz, Kai studied with Freddie Gruber, the same jazz drummer who changed up Neil Pearts matched grip to traditional grip.
I have loved so many bands in my life. After hearing NightWish, everything sounds half assed. It is like drinking water your whole life then discovering whiskey. Then you realize water just isn’t cutting anymore. You still like water, but it’s just simply water.
Interesting and entertaining reaction, once again. You made me laugh saying "Tuomas has the genius ability to Bob Ross the best metal in the world." Very funny, but also very true! Another thing you said: "This is what Megadeath was supposed to sound like"... Well, on their tour back in 2004 they did a cover of 'Symphony Of Destruction' (Marko singing). Have a look and listen if you're interested. Greetings from the Netherlands. ua-cam.com/video/-MzEJTLFMas/v-deo.html
@@bloodybutunbowed291 Hey! Yes, it was nice to have my question aswered by Floor. Interesting to know that she also had to go through those recorder lessons in primary school 🎵
@@martine3293 In the USA, the first 30 minutes of school was listening, over the intercom, to classical music. 1st thru 6th grade. So of coarse, I joined the school band. Played several instruments, but my favorite was French horn. Concert band, school marching band, orchestra and acapella choir became my love. Was in a band in the mid 60s and Nightwish was my vision. But life and war took me in a different direction. I was restored when I stumbled on to NW and Phantom of the Opera 13 months ago. Wish I could play like them, but listening to them is just as great.
@@randymarple9830 Hi Randy. Sounds like your musical career is marked by variety. I went from the recorder lessons to (classical) guitar lessons. I love playing the guitar 🎸, but unfortunately my fingers are too short to be able to play it well 😳 I'm always impressed reading about the impact Nightwish's music makes on the lives of people. It only motivates me more to keep asking people to check out their music.
I was also smiling about his remarks on Megadeath, but he even made it better with saying that Emppu was channeling his inner Steve Harris - who said he loved Dark Passion Play. What are the odds he named two references that have an actual link with NW. I'm off to buy lottery ticket 😂🤘🏼
I owe Nightwish a lot. Through them I found Epica, Within Temptation, Kamelot, Leaves' Eyes, Delain, and several more bands that are typically put under the symphonic metal umbrella. I created a Nightwish channel on Pandora at my old office and heard Lindsey Stirling for the first time. When I decided that my music collection was growing stale, I was waching Nightwish reactions and saw a band called BAND-MAID in the recommended videos. Through that I've found a cornucopia of Japanese rock and metal including LOVEBITES, Wagakki Band, Nemophila, Unlocky Morpehus, Asterism, and others and then I moved on to the rest of the world and found Jinjer, The Hu, Heilung, and others. Plus, I play Warwick bass guitars because of Marko, one of my favorite concerts I've been to was Kamelot and Nightwish in 2012, and I've made musician friends because of Nightwish.
Another great and informative analysis. Love "She is a vocal unicorn". Such a great comment. Can't wait for the next Nightwish song. Perhaps some Epica as well? Kingdom of Heaven Part 3 from Omega Alive.
This one gives you a little taste of Nightwish mythological metal music theater. Marko plays the role of the devil, who is amorously pursuing Floor's mermaid character. He fails and she swims away to live free in the ocean. Great commentary again Eric. Well said. In the near future you will hear what Marko is capable of vocally. IMHO - Kai is more like a rapid fire machine. He is amazing at blast beat drumming. I would add one more thing Eric. Megadeath and most US metal bands are much too focused on being aggressive angry guitar driven metal all of the time. The beauty and uniqueness of Nightwish , Arjen, and many other bands from the Netherlands and other parts of Europe is that it is not all about the metal guitar thing all of the time. Yes it is heavy and guitar driven at times. But other times it is so much more musical and melody driven. It also is so much more dramatic and epic. I love Maiden. When Bruce joined they went from a sort of punkish metal garage band sound to an amazingly epic and powerful sound. So much better in my opinion and they are still going strong in their 60's. We shall come to set the dolphins free We shall wash the darkened blood red sea Our songs will echo over the mountains and seas The eternity will begin once again in peace
Enjoyed your analysis of Nightwish. I've always felt both Nightwish drummers are masters in their craft. All of them together perform so cohesively together with impeccable precision. It's one song after the other and onto the next, our ears are spoiled for sure, but not taking our luxury for granted. Thanks for a great reaction.. Cheers. 🥂
Thank you for rating Nightwish. Listen to the "sleeping sun" Tampere performance and especially Marko's bass line in it. It’s a significant part of the song and helps create your sense of it. All the best and stay healthy.
i have said before, no matter who your preferred NW singer is, at Wacken '13, Floor walked out on that stage with her Viking Queen Standard and said, BOOM!! MINE!!! as humble and down to earth as she is, she would never say that herself. why we call her The Queen, because she never would. She took over that role. there's a clip in the Making of EFMB, where Tuomas is being asked about changes to the Vehicle of Spirit tour setlist, and he says something along the lines of, "We'll add in different songs from our catalogue as we go. Ones that fit Floor's voice." he exchanges a look with the interviewer as they both chuckle over "fits Floor's voice", both knowing there is literally no song of theirs she could not do. she says that "Ever Dream" the closest thing to a "ballad" that i've heard from them, is the most challenging of the older songs. lots of belting very high.
First time I ever wrote a comment on UA-cam.. Ever.. I just just had to say that you pretty much put words on everything I have felt for Nightwish since I heard them the first time around 2003-2004. I was in my car and a song appears on the radio.. I just got hooked right away. It was "End of all hope" with the first vocalist Tarja. I've been a passionate fan since. I'd like to welcome you to the huge fanbase that have joined around this absolutely macical band. You have a great journey in front of you in exploring the greatness of Nightwish. If you like to listen other greatness of Thomas, try to Auri or just search for Thomas Holopainen - Lifetime of adventure. I'll think you will find in pleasant. Wills Sweden
I really hope you get the opportunity to see them live. Its such a great experience to be a soldier in the Nightwish Army at a show with the other members!
Thank you again! Great reaction! Marko&Floor=match made in heaven! Marko is heavy but also a big gentle giant! I strongly recommend also "Northern Kings".
You the first guy to actually articulate so beautifully the complex feelings I get with Nightwish and Floor. We are so very privileged to experience these awesome compositions 💥💥💥💥
Thx for this reaction, i wish that the Dutch radio DJ's would give Floor the credits and the attention that she deserves, but despite the Dutch are one of the best in metalmusic, it still get's almost none attention. Luckily there is the internet to full in that gap. Thanks to the TV program Best Singers, Floor is become a known vocalist in The Netherlands ,but most of them are still not knowing how great she performs whit Nightwish. Most people know here from the duet she did whit opera vocalist Henk Poort, and their version of, "The Phantom Of The Opera". But despite everything, the Dutch in general,do not realize, that they have the best singer in the world. 🎼🎶🎵🤘🤘🤘
Continuing to watch and enjoy your Nightwish journey. I also got the Megadeth vibe from this song and agree 100%. Grew up in the 80s and Iron Maiden and Steve Harris in particular was the reason I started playing bass. Your analogy of what Bruce did for Maiden is exactly what I feel about Floor. She kicked this band to another level. Also, I grew up in Dallas, TX and currently live in Louisiana and also agree 100% with what you said about American metal. My band was in the bars in the 90s and actually played with Drowning Pool prior to their signing and while Pantera was in their prime. But the American labels shortly after turned away from metal and other than a few bands seem to stay away. It's a shame because there is truly Great metal music being missed
My three favourite bands are Nightwish, The Who and Iron Maiden so you had me covered 😂. What all three have in common is a mad genius behind the creation with a palette of world class musicians and composers in their own right to complete the masterpieces!
Great reaction! I soo look forward to seeing you react to Poet and the Pendulum. That's an emotional roller coaster. Pick the version with subtitles, it's only in the beginning it covers the screen, then it goes to the bottom an is not distracting (imho).
Or can just turn the captions on, which are less intrusive than the lyric video. Agree though, can't wait for Poet and Greatest Show, though I think there's a wait for those
Poet and the Pendulum will certainly bring ALOT to the table for Eric to experience. 1) the background band dynamics that played out in a public forum and the fallout. His industry knowledge will be allow for a poignant reaction. 2) the emotional "colors" that Tuomas captures in composition, might very well prove to be temporarily overwhelming. Plenty of us have been there.
Woohoo - a top 5 without question Great review and I agree about always moving forward. Something different in every song. Really interested in the synaesthetic experience you have. Presumably each colour has some feeling or emotion associated? I think the Finns have nailed it 😉
Arjen has landed Britney Slayes(Hayes) of Unleash The Archers for his new stuff, She sings a mean Brindisi btw. Arjen said he was checking UA-cam and saw her performance of "Queen of the Reich" in a karaoke bar of all places. 🤣 Megadeth? Nightwish did a cover of "Symphony Of Destruction" but the videoquality on UA-cam is a bit poor. But Marko Hietala shines in it of course. And Emppu. Nightwish has one Jazz song "Slow Love Slow". And about America: Pantera and Five Finger Death Punch have a good reputation here in Europe. Why I ❤ Nightwish’s Dark Passion Play, by Iron Maiden’s Steve Harris By Steve Harris ( Metal Hammer ) published March 25, 2021 Iron Maiden’s bassist Steve Harris salutes Nightwish’s 2007 symphonic metal masterpiece Dark Passion Play Booker T. & the M.G.'s were an American instrumental R&B/funk band that was influential in shaping the sound of Southern soul and Memphis soul. The original members of the group were Booker T. Jones (organ, piano), Steve Cropper (guitar), Lewie Steinberg (bass), and Al Jackson Jr. (drums). In the 1960s, as members of the house band of Stax Records, they played on hundreds of recordings by artists including Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding, Bill Withers, Sam & Dave, Carla Thomas, Rufus Thomas, Johnnie Taylor and Albert King. They also released instrumental records under their own name, including the 1962 hit single "Green Onions". As originators of the unique Stax sound, the group was one of the most prolific, respected, and imitated of its era. By the mid-1960s, bands on both sides of the Atlantic were trying to sound like Booker T. & the M.G.'s.
Talking about nightwish and their fan connection, if you get the chance, checkout the video called "please learn this set list in 48hrs". It is from the Denver show where Annette became sick and Nightwish pulled off a once in a lifetime feat with the ladies from Kamelot. I was in the audience with my daughters at that show. Made me a fan for life what they did. It was during the period that lead to Floor joining the band and what you've seen in the 2013 videos from Germany.
Shout out to my fellow South American metal fans. We are pretty much always like this with the bands we love. I Want my Tears Back from the same concert is something else in terms of crowd engagement!
I am loving your reactions, and am so glad you get what we feel for this band and Floor. I think you should really check out "Dead Boys Poem" it is a deep song at Buenos Aires. Tuomas has said it is what he would love to tell the world if he died. You will figure out in a lot of Tuomas' song lyrics he is The Poet, the songwriter, the Ocean Soul, and yes the Dead Boy.
Hi Eric, Great reaction. Yea, we are spoiled... That is not always a good thing... I just try to come down from my Nightwish addiction and listen to other music. Not really going well, either. I have my complete music library on random while driving and I am getting blisters on my finger from hitting "next song". Luckily I sometimes hit a Meal Loaf song, that now (because of his passing), I will listen to and remember the good times I had at his concerts. R.I.P. Micheal, we miss you, but your music will always be a part of us. Stay safe, positive and happy Dirk
Thanks again for the very good video, it was a pleasure to follow! Nightwish is indeed its own genre. It’s a fun mix of different music styles. We sometimes say that Tuomas has a touch of Midas. Whatever kind of music he makes, it always sounds good! And when he has musicians of that level around him who can interpret the music he composes !!! Information about Kai. And when you mentioned the jazz technique in his playing ... :) In this video, you saw where he is now, but how he ended up in it. The start was already good because his father was a professional musician, so there was a lot of music playing at home as well. When Kai was 6, he got the first drum kit of his life. And when he turned 8, he received Iron Maiden’s second album as a gift from his grandmother. Kai said it changed his life and he has been an Iron Maiden fan since that moment. At some point in his childhood, Kai attended a drummer course that lasted about six months. But more seriously, he started training when he was 20 years old. He then went to the Kuula Institute. First to the classical side, music theory, writing notes, etc. Then continued to the pop-jazz side, for a total of a few years (undergraduate degree in music). In addition, separate a few days of jazz courses at the Sibelius Academy (University). In the early 2000s, he decided to go to New York for one summer. As teachers there he had jazz teachers / musicians: Freddie Gruber, Joe Morello, Jim Chapin, John Riley. They had a big impact on Kai's playing. In particular, they became a way to play ergonomically. Kai is also familiar with Alexander's technique, which he uses to make his work ergonomic. Kai's favorite genre to play is metal / rock and second is jazz. This he himself said in an interview. It’s nice to follow Kai’s interviews, he’s very humble and happy. He doesn’t consider himself a music worker, but the thing that comes from the heart. Not forced to get money. This is what he has also talked about in an interview. Some reaction video channels also have musician interviews. Have you thought you would? I think you would be great at doing such. And Kai could be the first person whose interview I would like to hear. Or maybe Nightwish's first drummer, Jukka Nevalainen?
You should check out "I Want My Tears Back" from the same show. Also has Troy in it as well as Marco, Floor, and Troy doing two and three-way harmonizing. More of a "folk" feel but still a great song! I'm a life-long metal head, but I find as I get older, my taste has evolved to like more musicality rather than a band smashing and banging out songs. Keep it up!
Another great reaction with great analysis! Next something less heavy from Nightwish. I love their heavier stuff, but now you have mostly only reacted heavy so time to see yet another side of them... My Walden, I want my tears back or Dead Boy's poem
I found out about Nightwish a year ago! GLS was the first song that started my journey with this brilliant band, along with Yuka, Marco, Tuomas, Empu, Troy and Flor
I am a recent Nightwish convert since lockdown and a singer on and off in rock and musicals and couldn't agree more about Floor. Also have several early Iron Maiden albums on vinyl with both Paul Di'Anno and Bruce Dickinson. Funnily enough saw Iron Maiden live with Paul and another band Samson with Bruce as lead singer at the same time.
This old song from 1998 album had a new life there. But U Sir, are you ready for what is coming at you? Not talking about just NW, but how it all came to this. From Kalevala thru Sibelius, Wigwam and Piirpauke, Tarot, Stone, and Kingston Wall we have now bands and artists like Amorphis, NW, CoB, Mokoma, Stam1na, Erja Lyytinen, Steve'n'Seagulls. List goes forever on...
I absolutely love how you reference the Don Adams Get Smart opening to the show door after door (song after song) is unlocked by Floor deeper into your subconscious with the key to each door!
so much fun to experience you going down the Nightwish rabbit hole... love your insight and it comes through that like the rest of us in the Nightwish Army... you appreciate the music, the performance, and the genius behind it all. can't wait for the next one! subbed!
Speaking of unicorns I can not wait until you get to the Human II Nature album. Not sure if any of it is on Gabriel's list but if not just start with the first song on the album and work your way through.
You're right, in H :||: N they took another step forward. In my message is the official playlist of the album - unfortunately they don't have professional life recordings ... yet. Let's hope that 2022 will bring us live recordings
Another great insightful reaction. I'm really enjoying watching your knowledge and expertise being applied to reacting to Nightwish. If you wish to take a side step and see what Tuomas can do as a solo project outside of metal, then please react to "A Lifetime of Adventure" by Tuomas Holopainen. His wife Johanna Kurkela takes over lead vocals. It is inspired by the comic "The Life And Times Of Scrooge McDuck" and it even features the creator, cartoonist Don Rosa, in the video! Enjoy and stay safe. Here's a link: ua-cam.com/video/JWwSVOo5K_k/v-deo.html
When I am listening to my Amazon Music playlist.... No matter how far down I turn the volumn , it's not low enough for her!!! So...I just use my noise cancelling Bose headphones! You're so correct about Booker T & the MG's! I listened to them growing up!
NWA Germany logging in.... Thanks again for the well thought reaction. It is really nice to listen to your reactions. On Point. And yes...as a loyal member of the NWA - I agree - very less lateral moves 🙂 As we have arrived Buenos Aires: Can we ask for "Slaying the Dreamer" next from Buenos Aires....to digest some more Oldschool Vibes 🙂 And then the party piece - I want my tears back. Thanks again ! All Hail Queen Floor !
I think you are nailing just about anything. From the fanbase, the reasons why, the compositions, the musicians and to Floor. I am a little curious of which songs you have heard from her YT Channel - so we don't suggest and argue why you should hear this and that. And don't you just love her humor? This song from the Decades Tour.. - the whole setlist from the decades tour shows how far Nightwish have evolved since the Wacken 2013 show. In the future you should watch the entire concerts 1. Wacken 2013 2. Wembley 2015 /16 3. Tampere 2015 /16 4. Buenos Aires 2018 just to experience how Nightwish evolved. From Tuomas's creations to Floor's telling the stories - the interaction on stage etc etc. So - you are right - Tuomas and Nightwish will continue to "break new land" - as long as Floor is on board (Tuomas has claimed if she leaves, Nightwish is dead - but luckily, she never will)
"That dude is so metal". Well you are certainly right about that. He is also very versatile. Watch this clip of him covering Kiss on the Masked Singer Finland. As you know Kiss was originally done by Prince & the Revolution. ua-cam.com/video/omrzTTRB44I/v-deo.html
Sir, when you told me about the colors I knew it for sure, You are a Higly sensitive Person (HSP) like Tuomas and Floor. We feel everything deep in out chest, guts everywhere and see things and people in colors. And yes, there is nothing lateral with Night Wish lol. It is going up and up, no matter what kind of style music they play. Love your reactions, you are truly by far my favorite on You Tube. Thank you sir.
Thank you for your reaction, I feel like that with Floor's voice too that it gives safe surrounding emotionally and has ability to draw all kinds of feelings from your soul.. That's her gift. Can't wait to see them in April in Tampere. All the best from Finland and waiting for your next reaction🙂❤
Eric, I absolutely love your reactions. Nightwish has absolutely taken me, after I first discovered them 1 year ago. They are so amazing, so magical and forever captivating. You´re a top guy Eric, keep spreading the love. All the best!
Wow Man! The video you react is 5 min and you can expand your reaction for that more than 20, Nightwish generates that, and im enjoying a lot everything you say, all those analysis are so interesting, you leave nothing aside and we get more of what we already know, keep doing these kind of reactions and you will keep us here, rock on and take care!
Still have to watch this when I have a moment, but just wanted to say thanks for continuing down the Nightwish path. For me they are the best and most important rock band founded after around 1980. Only recently, with a handful of other symphonic rock bands and now the explosion in Japan, has the rock scene felt really vital and alive again.
Amen, Gabriel, amen..😊

Hello from Toronto Gabriel! I totally agree. Gotta spread the Nightwish love far and wide! 💯👍🤘
Well said Gabriel, or shall I say, I concur with everything you’ve said and have said! Stay Safe Rock On!🙏🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
So well said!

Quote of the decade.
Yeah Marco!!!
The Poet and the Pendulum will blow your mind - Floor performs this on another level!
Mmh, not without the Background
Yes, I concur pal!!
A master piece. No doubt.
I concur! - An emotional masterpiece
Absolutely one of the best
I checked --- it is 16th on the list that Gabriel gave Eric when he first wrote him. About where I would put it myself, so here I agree with Gabriel.
I concur.
All of this... I concur.
Oh yes.... your Nightwish journey continues!!!!!
The Buenos Aires show has some real gems! Dead Boys Poem is just heartbreakingly beautiful and I Want My Tears Back is another that comes to mind.
That exactly copies my own thinking rigt now... all but especially these two!

Not sure if I've listened to you carefully enough, but just to make sure you won't forget that Nightwish are essentially a Finnish band, Floor is a Dutchie, Troy is English, the rest are Finnish. Thank you for your insightful and interesting reactions, greetings from Finland
Yes. We from Finland are proud to bring Nightwish into the world :)

Also "Dead boys poem" too. Such a beautiful "lump in the throat" piece of music this talented band has produced.

Few singers can make me cry. Floor is one of them 👌
you are right, Kai IS a jazz drummer

In fact, he actually won the Finnish version of The Masked Singer a couple of years ago.
i concur.
@@hansolo2121 You might want to ask what Floor thinks. I bet she disagrees with you.

Song of Myself - live at Wacken
"The Bob Ross Metal Mozart" - I'm not sure you can add anything more to describe him!
So much to address here and I don´t want to leave a comment that´ll take you half an hour to read through so I´ll try to be brief and to the point.
Floor:
In my former life in my youth I used to be an actor and in acting school and training we have a dicipline that revolves around being able to,- night after night,- experience the text/ the lyrics you have to deliver as if it were the first time you ever felt it, experienced it, said it ------ sang it!
Emppu:
Emppu is, though unassuming, every vocal driven rock band´s dream guitarist,- he never tries to fill up the stage at every moment with his unbelievably awesome stage presence and ability to fill every little nook and cranny of the song with some epic guitar fill that, though nice, needn´t really be there.
´bout time. :)
Long one,- and as brief as I could make it.
My apologies. :)

Yes, yes, he is! Take a look at a 20-year-old Marko in Tarot's first video/tv appearance. (I'm not quite clear if this was filmed as a music video, or filmed for a tv show and turned into a music video.) From 1986 (and they look it, lol!) this is Wings of Darkness: ua-cam.com/video/VimogVM3i9Y/v-deo.html
(Sorry for the Finnish over the intro, but the video quality is much better in this one than the one I've seen that doesn't have it. Oh, the guy on lead guitar? Marko's big brother Zachary.)
And for yet another side of Marko, here's a home video (from 2010, looks like a phone camera, so definitely not professional quality) of him with his acoustic, singing Black Sabbath's Planet Caravan as a lullaby to Jukka's youngest: ua-cam.com/video/-XBZutbxSf4/v-deo.html
Few bands can give you a concert in every song, and no one does it better than Nightwish.
Every title is effectively a “story time”
There's an snippet of this song that always makes me giggle, while Marko is talking about this guy who is going after this gal but she wants nothin to do with him, Tuomas and Floor share a few sips of his bottle of wine, and it's kind of funny how she held onto it, like she didn't want to give it back, then Marko introduces the song, those are the little things that make me love them, besides their incredible performances
Hi Eric, great reaction video once again! Thx for your enthusiasm! One little detail to mention: Nightwish is a band from Finland, only Floor is dutch... :-)

I see a request for Poet and the Pendulum in the comments. Normally I would caution you to do some research before you reacted to Poet and the Pendulum, because it is such a personal song for Tuomas and the band, AND the fans. Hey Martine!!! Congratulations!!! I saw your question come up on Floor's Fan Friday this week!!!
I love playing the guitar 🎸, but unfortunately my fingers are too short to be able to play it well 😳
I'm always impressed reading about the impact Nightwish's music makes on the lives of people.
Man I can't tell you how much I look forward to your Nightwish reactions. Thank you for sharing your experience and insight!
Another great and informative analysis. Love "She is a vocal unicorn". Such a great comment. Can't wait for the next Nightwish song. Perhaps some Epica as well? Kingdom of Heaven Part 3 from Omega Alive.

Great reaction, well done 🏴
We shall come to set the dolphins free
We shall wash the darkened blood red sea
Our songs will echo over the mountains and seas
The eternity will begin once again in peace
I'd love to see you react to "dead boys poem" a slower, more personal song to Toumas
First time I ever wrote a comment on UA-cam.. Ever.. I just just had to say that you pretty much put words on everything I have felt for Nightwish since I heard them the first time around 2003-2004.

Great show!!!
@@davidellinsworth22 Good point. The captions can work as well... if they are not auto generated - that tends to muck things up. =)
4:14 - 4:26 - Yep, that note!🎵
5:10 & 5:37 - Those vocal onset’s and the pace & precision from the band - awesome!
Your face said it all! 😹
Woohoo - a top 5 without question
Great review and I agree about always moving forward.

Booker T.

As always, excellent reaction! This band brings up so much emotion in their songs.
Your NW reviews and insights are a joy to watch/listen.
Congratulations I just love your reactions & your Imput in each song
About phoning it in. The fear of doing that is actually one of the themes in Dead Boy's Poem and Song of Myself....and 2 of my favourites ;-)
I concur ❤
Hi Eric,
Great reaction.
Stay safe, positive and happy
Dirk
Great NW - and a great Crew in the background.!!!!!!!
Awesome awesome assessment Eric. I thoroughly agree. NIGHTWISH and FLOOR are the greatest gift music at this time.
Keep it up!
Eric; todos y cada una de tus análisis son una pieza del más refinado y apoteótico ARTE; Gracias Totales y Abrazos desde Argentina!!!
A great reaction to a great song. I am looking out for your next reaction.
Noora Louhimo.
On Point.
And yes...as a loyal member of the NWA - I agree - very less lateral moves 🙂
As we have arrived Buenos Aires: Can we ask for "Slaying the Dreamer" next from Buenos Aires....to digest some more Oldschool Vibes 🙂
And then the party piece - I want my tears back.
In the future you should watch the entire concerts
1. Wacken 2013
2. Wembley 2015 /16
3. Tampere 2015 /16
4. Buenos Aires 2018
just to experience how Nightwish evolved.
As you know Kiss was originally done by Prince & the Revolution. ua-cam.com/video/omrzTTRB44I/v-deo.html
i thought him doing "Gangsta's Paradise" was his most epic performance on that show!!! that's amazing!!!
"Marko is metal": For sure! 100 % agree!
Next could be "The Islander" from Tampere!
You'll see why 🙂
I concur!
Insightful! Nothing more needs to be said. Have a great evening.
Absolutely love this song - the drumming is outstanding, one of my favourite songs listening while driving car - great reaction again Eric - tysm 😍❤🔥
Wow you have the gift of the word man. Beautiful reaction.
