Everybody talk about the female singers of Nightwish. Personally, I can't choose between Floor and Tarja, I love both, and I respect Annette. But you have a good point; Marko is underrated. He is really a good singer and, since he has been with the three female vocalists, he has been able to suit his voice to all of them.
This is a really old (and good) song. Tuomas wrote it when he was in high-school and he got into trouble with his English teacher because she saw the lyrics and thought it was devil-worship.

Yes, Marko is using a Warwick bass, and he also has a custom made double-neck with Warwick bass and Framus lead strings, and he is using Warwick amps and cabinettes. Don't know if you thought about it but Marko doesn't look down on the fretboard all that much when he is playing. I wouldn't say that Marko is underrated as a singer, those of us who have seen and heard more of him - I can assure you that we are not underrating him as a singer. I would prefere to use the word "overlooked" instead, because so many people does not believe in a guitar players ability to sing. Marko's control over his voice is almost unbelieveable, tone, strength, modulation, breath control, syncopation when he is singing together with Floor... You will find out yourself as you go down this road. And he does this singing at the same time as playing the guitar - Opera singers doesn't do that, as another Reactor pointed out (Chase Carneson or Mike Goodrich, don't remember who). I don't mind if you are posting your videos as Premieres, it actually makes it a bit easier for me to make adjustments to my daily chores so I can watch your reactions. Cheers / B.

Few things: Floor was just overcoming a flu at this point so she couldn’t put 100% into this show, but she sounds great regardless! Marko is mostly backing vocals but there are songs where he takes the lead and shows his true vocal abilities (the islander at Tampere, while your lips are still red at Wembley, high hopes end of an era dvd. Just some examples). Speaking of Kai “slaying” the drums, slaying the dreamer from this same show is a must watch!! Nightwish fans love Marko's voice since he joined the band. I never heard of him being overshadowed by anyone. In contrary, the duets now with Floor really shine. With Tarja I felt the contrast between his raw male rocky voice and her softer female operatic voice was a cool thing. But for me they never really mached when they sang together (I never liked "I wish I had an angel" with her for example). For the duets with Annette he had to take back his power for not overshadowing HER too much.
Their singing compliments each other so freaking perfect, no matter who has lead in the song. I also want to say Thank you for breaking down the tech aspects of the show and some of what goes into set up. That has always been in the back of my mind.
Marko is not underrated with Nightwish fans. We really love Marko. Oldest band member. He sweet, funny and super talented. His voice in 'The Islander' or Pink Floyd's cover 'High Hopes' is just phenomenal.
Yes, I was there that day. We waited a lot outside the stadium. There was some rain. Long rows of fans waiting. The show was amazing. There was a lot of people, didn't seem to be sold out, entirely, but Nightwish has a very good fanbase in Argentina. And the "argentos" are rabid fans. They didn't film the crowd so much, like in the famous Wacken 2013, but if you want to see some of it, watch " I want my tears back" live in Buenos Aires. Yeah, this song is a grower. It's kinda abrasive the first time you hear it, cause it's so far away from what you're used to from them and it has all these weird abrupt starts and stops, but the more you listen to it the more you understand what's actually going on here and how it all this rough chaos fits together and it becomes one heck of a ride.
PageMonster additional fact: Irene is a pretty damn good singer in her own right. They (she and Floor) share the stage regularly, in Floors old band After Forever, but also with Ayreon, for example.
I know some others have recommended Nightwish's tribute to Pink Floyd's "High Hopes". I've been a NW fan for nearly 15 years, but I had pretty much overlooked this gem of a live performance from around 2006 (?). I've listened to it a lot in the last month and it eats my lunch each time. To me it is one of the most impressive showcases of Marko's vocals. Amazing breath control and dynamics (not to mention spot-on bass playing). The skill and reverence that Emppu gives on the guitar solos has given me fresh respect for his artistry and does fine justice to David Gilmour's style. Jukka is a passionate beast on the drums. To me he is one of the most watchable drummers in recent memory. Tuomas' keyboard work is exemplary and powerful. His talent as an arranger elevates this song to a new level of epic grandeur. That "Decades" Tour has been my first Nightwish live, even if I know and like them since 2005. I was at the Paris show and just blown me away. What a show, what an energy, what a stage presence from all of them!

I felt the same way about it after the first listen (a couple of months ago) but I changed my mind quickly and it became one of my absolute favourites. There are many top tier band in this world that would be more than happy (and incredibly lucky) to have him on as a vocalist alone. He is an insanely talented musician.
I like your dad! This is my personal favorite. You see, that song belongs to the First Era of Nightwish. At that time in the early '90s, Tuomas was more inclined towards Power Symphonic Metal in the album Oceanborn but this particular song, Tapio Wilska did the beast for the studio version and it turned out to be a more or less of an approach to almost black metal in which the lineup band used to have more participation and not so much background playback. This new version is the one that made me pay attention to Nightwish again... I really hope they do more of this stuff in the future. I guess that's too much to ask for.
I thought the same thing at first that Floor overshadows his voice, but the more I listen to their songs, I hear he’s harmonizing with her perfectly, and it blends together so nicely

in fact, Marko is really respected in music circles and has a strong fan base. Marko 's first band Tarot, in which Marko sang and played Basso, was formed in 1982. Another band that Marko has been founding is Northen Kings, which brings together Finland's best male artists in one bundle. He has also made visits to other bands such as Delain. (worth a look) He also came some time ago with a solo album which was released in Finnish and English. last but by no means least the production of Heavy Christmas and the annual Finnish tour. One of the things I love about Nightwish is the amount of subtlety in every song. All of them could rock harder but they respect each other enough to understand their role in the song. If you want to see Marco take a lead role watch While your lips are still red or the Islander.

I think that is awesome your father enjoys Nightwish as well. I am guessing he is about my age and was probably rocking out to Zeppelin,Sabbath, Uriah Heep back in the 70's. Not surprising, the Nightwish shows I have been to the average age is 45 was 65 years old. There were some whole family's Children with their Parents and Grand parents. This is my absolute Nightwish song, i got super upset when i couldn’t attend any of the Decades in the UK (I’m in Ireland) during December because i work in retail and is the busiest time of the year, i had the days booked but was asked to cover and had to cancel everything. I was devastated because i was going to specifically see/hear this song live.

Yes, Marko is using a Warwick bass, and he also has a custom made double-neck with Warwick bass and Framus lead strings, and he is using Warwick amps and cabinettes. Don't know if you thought about it but Marko doesn't look down on the fretboard all that much when he is playing.
I wouldn't say that Marko is underrated as a singer, those of us who have seen and heard more of him - I can assure you that we are not underrating him as a singer. I would prefere to use the word "overlooked" instead, because so many people does not believe in a guitar players ability to sing. Marko's control over his voice is almost unbelieveable, tone, strength, modulation, breath control, syncopation when he is singing together with Floor... You will find out yourself as you go down this road. And he does this singing at the same time as playing the guitar - Opera singers doesn't do that, as another Reactor pointed out (Chase Carneson or Mike Goodrich, don't remember who).
I don't mind if you are posting your videos as Premieres, it actually makes it a bit easier for me to make adjustments to my daily chores so I can watch your reactions.

Few things: Floor was just overcoming a flu at this point so she couldn’t put 100% into this show, but she sounds great regardless! Marko is mostly backing vocals but there are songs where he takes the lead and shows his true vocal abilities (the islander at Tampere, while your lips are still red at Wembley, high hopes end of an era dvd. Just some examples). Speaking of Kai “slaying” the drums, slaying the dreamer from this same show is a must watch!! Nightwish fans love Marko's voice since he joined the band. I never heard of him being overshadowed by anyone. In contrary, the duets now with Floor really shine. With Tarja I felt the contrast between his raw male rocky voice and her softer female operatic voice was a cool thing. But for me they never really mached when they sang together (I never liked "I wish I had an angel" with her for example). For the duets with Annette he had to take back his power for not overshadowing HER too much.
I saw this tour in Baltimore a couple of years ago. Third Row.... was amazing!

Yes, I was there that day. We waited a lot outside the stadium. There was some rain. Long rows of fans waiting. The show was amazing. There was a lot of people, didn't seem to be sold out, entirely, but Nightwish has a very good fanbase in Argentina. And the "argentos" are rabid fans. They didn't film the crowd so much, like in the famous Wacken 2013, but if you want to see some of it, watch " I want my tears back" live in Buenos Aires. Thanks, and it's time to subscribe to your channel.

Yeah, this song is a grower. It's kinda abrasive the first time you hear it, cause it's so far away from what you're used to from them and it has all these weird abrupt starts and stops, but the more you listen to it the more you understand what's actually going on here and how it all this rough chaos fits together and it becomes one heck of a ride.

I know some others have recommended Nightwish's tribute to Pink Floyd's "High Hopes". I've been a NW fan for nearly 15 years, but I had pretty much overlooked this gem of a live performance from around 2006 (?). I've listened to it a lot in the last month and it eats my lunch each time. To me it is one of the most impressive showcases of Marko's vocals. Amazing breath control and dynamics (not to mention spot-on bass playing). The skill and reverence that Emppu gives on the guitar solos has given me fresh respect for his artistry and does fine justice to David Gilmour's style. Jukka is a passionate beast on the drums. To me he is one of the most watchable drummers in recent memory. Tuomas' keyboard work is exemplary and powerful. His talent as an arranger elevates this song to a new level of epic grandeur. I totally get why you said it was your least favorite song in comparison to the others. I felt the same way about it after the first listen (a couple of months ago) but I changed my mind quickly and it became one of my absolute favourites. It's so special, heavy and the vocals are outstanding, but maybe a little overwhelming at first.

I like your dad! This is my personal favorite. You see, that song belongs to the First Era of Nightwish. At that time in the early '90s, Tuomas was more inclined towards Power Symphonic Metal in the album Oceanborn but this particular song, Tapio Wilska did the beast for the studio version and it turned out to be a more or less of an approach to almost black metal in which the lineup band used to have more participation and not so much background playback. This new version is the one that made me pay attention to Nightwish again... I really hope they do more of this stuff in the future. I guess that's too much to ask for.
I thought the same thing at first that Floor overshadows his voice, but the more I listen to their songs, I hear he’s harmonizing with her perfectly, and it blends together so nicely
Missed it 3 weeks ago. Again great reaction. This and Romanticide are high on the favorites list. I think the band is made for outdoor concerts, as special effects are equally important to their shows.

in fact, Marko is really respected in music circles and has a strong fan base. Marko 's first band Tarot, in which Marko sang and played Basso, was formed in 1982. Another band that Marko has been founding is Northen Kings, which brings together Finland's best male artists in one bundle. He has also made visits to other bands such as Delain. (worth a look) He also came some time ago with a solo album which was released in Finnish and English. last but by no means least the production of Heavy Christmas and the annual Finnish tour. And meny more😊

If you're looking for Troy, try I Want My Tears Back from this same concert! It's one of their more "folky" songs, with a catchy fun melody. And some great dancing by Floor and the Buenos Aires crowd!
I would say another song you should give a listen to when you have the time, from this same Buenos Aires venue, is "I want my tears back". Definitely a groovy one.

One of the things I love about Nightwish is the amount of subtlety in every song. All of them could rock harder but they respect each other enough to understand their role in the song. If you want to see Marco take a lead role watch While your lips are still red or the Islander.
Found It. Awesome job Thank you. The Music tensions in this song are phenomenal. On your own listen to the Tarja studio version I think you will enjoy it. I think that is awesome your father enjoys Nightwish as well. I am guessing he is about my age and was probably rocking out to Zeppelin,Sabbath, Uriah Heep back in the 70's. Not surprising, the Nightwish shows I have been to the average age is 45 was 65 years old. There were some whole family's Children with their Parents and Grand parents. Finally some new music I can relate to.
The islander is my favorite Marko lead song of Nightwish - and the live video does include Troy as I remember. So that would be my suggestion to you for a next Nightwish reaction video for you.

This is my absolute Nightwish song, i got super upset when i couldn’t attend any of the Decades in the UK (I’m in Ireland) during December because i work in retail and is the busiest time of the year, i had the days booked but was asked to cover and had to cancel everything.
