Another awesome video. Love the way you’re transparent with costs and effort, admit any mistakes you make, give a really clear view of the work you do and explain the processes and tools that might be unfamiliar to many folks. 👍
I’m guessing it had an aftermarket bumper on it originally because there’s no way the original one survived that well. Either that or a body shop had already ordered a new one before it was totaled out.
Sam, I have a 2002 Super Duty that was nearly totaled due to an accident like this. Your front frame section is bent over because someone was driving from left to right in front of the vehicle when the vehicle hit it broadside. I'd guess the impact speed was in the 20-30mph range based on the damage. What you don't realize is that the frames on this year truck are high tensile steel and cannot be "pulled" on a frame machine. Ford typically sells front frame sections, there is a parting line on the frame behind the front wheels where the section comes off. The bill to repair this truck easily exceeds $15,000. You have to pull the engine and cab, then remove the front frame section, attach a replacement section, reset the engine and body, then do the mechanical work to repair the coolers up front, then reassemble the front end, align the axle, then get a 4 wheel alignment. But here's the kicker, since that's a high tensile frame, Ford probably doesn't authorize the frame to be pulled to get the "diamond" out of the frame, which means this is a full frame replacement. Some insurance companies will total a vehicle if it needs a front subframe replacement (Farmers) some won't (Nationwide), but ALL insurers will total a vehicle if it needs a frame replacement. Because you can't "pull" the diamond out of the frame (according to Ford), the vehicle needs a full frame replacement. That costs about $10k to swap the frame out. To repair my 2002 super duty with the front frame pushed over 4" inches was $12,900. This involved heating and pulling the frame with a frame machine, because the earlier F-350 and below Super Duty trucks have mild steel frames. The F-450 and above, all years, have high tensile steel frames. If you don't repair the frame correctly, it will tow miserably and when you come to a panic stop, the vehicle will crab due to the thrust misalignment of the axles. My truck still has a clean title because it was repaired and Nationwide didn't total it. A girl in a PT Cruiser pulled out in front of me while traveling 45mph.
Calm down buddy. The truck is already totaled and gets inspected by the state after the repairs, and the frame can be pulled easily. It's only 1/4 inch thick steel. It could be pulled easily even if it was 2 inch thick steel with a little heat.
Samcrac the first and only person to buy a truck and not want a truck experience. I.e. loud exhaust and engine, lift and rough ride and off road capabilities

I have a 2016 F250 and replaced my factory Michelin tires with a set of those same BF Goodrich T/A K02s and the difference in ride quality is night & day. The KO2s have a hint of road noise but the truck rides so much smoother compared to the Michelins. Since your truck has 60k miles, it's safe to say those are fairly new tires so don't waist your money in search of a smoother riding tire because you won't find it. Nice score on the F250!

I'm shocked that this damage totaled out the truck....these F-250s are crazy expensive and the damage doesn't appear extensive at all. Does frame damage automatically total it out from an insurance perspective?

@@JeffreyMyers_ yea a diesel Chevy would be better!
Ford vs Chevy, deisel vs gas, bottom line is for the money he paid, he got the RIGHT TRUCK
@@cap2c484 🤦♂️no, gas trucks are ok, not great! i *OWN* a diesel!
@@JeffreyMyers_ lol ford shits on everyone else
Makes you wonder why it was written off in the first place, with so little damage.
Something doesn't add up.
ConnorHD3
Like I said....somerhing doesn't add up, and someone is cashing in on it.
This guy got lucky, worked smart and benefited.
ConnorHD3
Nope.
I understand perfectly how insurance works.
This is b.s..
The next thing you'll tell me is that lucky Larry silverstein did not get paid to demolish his own buildings on 911.
Truck was wrecked with off road bumper. That’s why have original one. And frame is solid.
I just liked this video. It's hard to believe you were able to get this truck at that low price. I also can't believe how many people have given this video a thumbs down. Why are there so many haters out there. I guess they don't like to see someone get a really good deal.
Nice truck! Change the ac air filter, it would be better as the truck is used!! Love the videos Sam!
Whats an AC air filter?
@@bravobrk it's the filter for the air that enters the cabin. I recommended it because many times on used vehicles they are filthy and if this truck will become a daily it wouldn't be good for Sam to inhale bad air and breathe low quality air in the cabin. What do you think?
Great buy man, this is my dream truck, would love to have one but living in Australia, this things goes for well over 100K n then some. Keep up the great videos.
That many bugs tells me it was towed a long distance, tailgate facing forward
PigMine 6 this time of year that’s 15 miles in Florida
Thanks to you I got into buying vehicles in Copart. Recently I got a 2008 Mustang GT Premium manual 99k miles. Loaded. Just needed a rear bumper. Drove it all in with parts I spent $3600
Speaking of coolant the first thing I do on any new purchase is a total fluid change. Oil. gear oil/trans fluid, brake fluid, diff oils, coolant the lot. Also all filters. Fluids and filters are cheap and you just don't know when they were done last. BTW, ADR'd, converted and approved that would be an 80 to 100k truck here (Australia).
Buys a super duty F-250 and says it has a trucky ride? wow i never would have thought Sam lol
I thought it was a diesel then i heard the v8 roar 😭
Geo Arellano more then halfway through it took me to notice it was a gasser 😭😭 disappointed lol
F-350 Guy fair enough man, for towing it’s gotta be a diesel though, cheaper fuel, better fuel mileage by far and way more torque , each to their own you buy a truck to suit your needs right , cheers brother have a great day
Did we see an M3?
Thats V-Tuned's M4
@@Scrubje no it's not. It's a completely different car in the background of the truck
@@Scrubje pretty sure he is talking about red E46 in a background at 15:32
Given that about half of the damage cost beisdes the frame is cosmetic, I'd say this is an awesome steal
You win some and you lose some. This one is a winner. Nice truck!
Fantastic choice getting the gas truck. It will last you much longer and they work great! I use one for a plow truck. They are a bit rough on gas but better then maintenance on the diesel!
That F150 creeped up like “WHAT THE FUKC YOU SAY BRO”!!? 😂😂😂
That F150 creeping in the background 😂
Doing mechanical work out in the backyard....you sir are a real car guy
2004 and below fords you can't go wrong with Sam. 7.3l Diesel and 2v 5.4 were Million Mile engines. None of the new fords will ever hold a candle. Either way you got a really good deal man. Would love to watch the frame pull process.
Good call replacing everything not only could it have randomly let lose it may have rubbed until it busted a whole in it
"Goop the you know what out of it" Classic Uncle Pete! LOL
I'm shocked that this damage totaled out the truck....these F-250s are crazy expensive and the damage doesn't appear extensive at all. Does frame damage automatically total it out from an insurance perspective?
Yeah after the crumple zones on the frame are crumpled then the truck is totaled and it's unsafe to drive after bent back
It was cheaper because it's gas but it's a nice real truck! Not a "wanna be a truck" like that Honda haha
The honda is a good truck for what it does. Many trucks that are coming out are going to be like the Honda anyways. All the new Electric ones.
Gas is the better option for most people anyways.
6.2 are sick to tune
+Samcrac
you need to have the power mirror switch in the middle position not the left or right position and then pull back on the switch the mirrors will fold in. hope this helps.
To fold the mirrors in, move the round knob straight back while the pointer is in the center position. Move it back again to unfold them.
What panel bond did you use for the radiator shroud? Awesome job!
I love instructional bits like 'Now we will put the radiator back on so the truck doesn't gush fluids all over the place from all the lines we have open'.
Alright, good tip, yeah thanks genius.
You were trolling us with the ridgeline weren't you?
Dude, don't complain about THE best truck tires you can get! BF Gooders ATs are the perfect combination of ride quality, noise level, looks, capability and price. I always run them....except for the Nittos I have on right now lmao, but they are loud AF.
Unreal find! You have such a great eye finding these diamonds in the rough!
I see you posted the Ridgeline on Facebook marketplace
How much? Also, what is Facebook? Ok, Sam, I'm done now. I promise!

Sam crac you really are motivating and I really love what u do. I’m a barista at Starbucks. And I watch your videos always. I just wanted to ask you if I could have the blue 911 Porsche you rebuild. I’ve recently fallen on hard times and the transmission on my bmw 325ci went out. I’m out of possibilities for a reliable car.
You're not getting 35k for a '14 with a 6.2 gasser, just doesn't happen. 25-28k max.
R Shiery thanks gas trucks hold no value he did not over pay but not the best deal for a gasser
@@joshuajohnson6294 Right, pretty great for what it is, just would never sale for what he said.
Plus if it is a salvage title, good luck selling it.
@@nslouka90 Samcrac will have videos showing all the damage it had and the repairs. He won't have any problem selling the truck.
Mexican Spec for 35k
Nice truck! I love my '16 F-350. (I've got the Powerstroke. After the turbo spools, the acceleration is amazing... even with a HEAVY load in tow!)
Love how he tells his viewers the total cost of the project... Keep it up man, loved your video
