Hey Friends! I just want to apologize for the poor audio at the mall. Full disclosure, I only brought my small point-and-shoot camera to shoot because I wanted to be a little more discreet, and it doesn't have a microphone... not smart for filming in a crowded mall! Haha, lesson learned. 🤦🏻♂️ COMING UP NEXT... Cebu, Dumaguete, and Iloilo! As always, thanks for watching, and if you liked the video, come say "hi" on Instagram instagram.com/tourist2townie/
6:52- Mang Inasal originated in the city of Love -Iloilo City- just to make information right. It is also under the Jollibee Foods Corp. Its first store is located at the Robinsons Place Iloilo-
It's good to see another foreigner coming here to enjoy the Filipino cuisine... I suggest you try the different variations of Halo-halo... Sometimes the ones served at fast-food places don't taste that authentic. Look for the traditional Halo-halo stands around the neighborhoods... If you plan on going to the provinces, all the better the Halo-halo is... Enjoy your trip and welcome to the country!!!
misguided ghosts I'm a Filipino and I'll suggest if you have to try to make your own dessert = halo-halo, you can find different Halo-halo recipes, Philippine's Chicken adobo, Mango Float through the internet. Hope I helped you to taste the tasty Filipino comfort foods.
Awesome video, Gareth! I've heard a lot about Jollibee, but had never heard of Chowking before now. The chicken and rice you got at Mang Inasal would probably be my favorite dish, too! It looks amazing. I just recently learned what halo halo is. Like you, I always thought it must be incredibly sweet, but it's nice to hear that it actually isn't super sweet! It still looks pretty rich, but also very unique and interesting. I've watched two videos of yours now and had to subscribe. Love your content, man!
Thanks for this Gareth. Missing those visits to Mall of Asia, it is like remembering a distant past. 🙁 Looking forward to PH getting back on track soon. 🙏💛
He is now in Mexico. Most Vloggers who leave Philippines for Mexico make better videos. Mexican food alone has so much character and diversity. No one comes to Mexico to eat in a fast food selling burgers and fries.
for Gareth's info, mang inasal originated and started in Iloilo city and capiz, roxas city.grilled native chicken is never just a product of one particular place as it is a staple in most homes of pinoys all over the country.however, the taste, the overall recipe of their food offerings and concept of unlimited rice all came from the owner who started it all in Iloilo city/Roxas city..became very popular and a hit nationwide, and after years and hundreds of branches and outlets later, sold the franchise to the jolibee owner in the process making them partners.this chicken grill Pinoy style resto/fast-food is from Iloilo/Roxas city and not from bacolod, which btw has their own nice, local similar restos, just like in dumaguete city too or in some other places elsewhere in the country..and yes the halo halo is really awesome at mang inasal!! ..:)
Hello Gareth, "It's more fun in the Philippines!" Then make the most of it! Just ask and have the locals show you around! You'll soon get the grip of it of why that slogan got it's name! Thumbs up and I subscribed, too! Looking forward to see more of the Philippines on your own take! :)
Welcome to Philippines. Visit Tagaytay City you can view the "Palace in the sky", Batangas you can see Taal volcano the "Volcano inside volcano",and Batanes "Home of the Ibatan"
You must try the best tourist guid so that you can experience the best in manila and the other places here, not only fast food but the authentic dishes on every provinces that we have here. And get here and taste the best of the best of the philippine cuisine
I only missed Eastern Visayas and Northeast Luzon. 40 provinces visited, before the lockdown striked. Fortunately, I accidentally went to a city, which part of another province. So at least, I did 40.
Good thing you corrected your local friend about mang inasal. Though bacolod is known for their inasal, mang inasal is owned by an ilonggo businessman in iloilo and gained popularity in a short period of time that leads to jollibee’s interest and bought it. It has around 300 branches already when jollibee bought 70% of its share at 1.3B.
having anyone with you in this video, you're still genuine you on how you deal with the people in all your videos. And again your background music makes all your videos enjoyable to see.
The best way to eat Jolli Bee’s chicken is to get rice on the side and pour the gravy over the rice. The pancit palabok to me is way better than the sweet spaghetti. Too bad your guide also didn’t recommend the pineapple juice.
HI! Gareth I enjoy watching your Vlog it's good you enjoyed traveling vlog in Philippines that's my mother country watching right now, new friend here in California.
My favorite is Mang inasal. Your friend should have taught you to dip the chicken with soysauce and calamansi with the chicken oil. Its a great experience. Great vlog. More videos please. 👍☺️
Hiya! 👋 happy to see you're enjoying your stay and food adventures are slowly but surely opening your palette to or cuisine. I miss home that's for sure. Pro tip: typical sauce you will see and use is the use of vinegar or even better, calamansi and mix it with soy sauce and chilis if you like and that makes the difference in the proteins you would be eating. 98% of the dishes you will be eating will ALWAYS be with rice. Happy trails and looking forward to seeing more vids. Man, I miss my home. Cheers to you!
We’re hooked watching your videos! Amazing places & food in Manila. But this video, the intro song by Beats By Esta (my son) My daughter & I looked at each other like “Hey I know that song!” Lol!!! Pretty cool! Love it 👍🏼❤️
I miss most is Mang Inasal especially the Halo2x..It is summer here and I wish I could have that halo halo😌..Good that you bring a local with you to show you the right way and how to eat the food❤️👍🏻Love you vlogs💕
Wow, 3 meals one after another. Mang inasal has the most value for money. They have an unlimited rice option too. Tasty grilled chicken. A lot if foreigners look for it in the provinces but only a few near beaches. Good job guys!
Just started following you! Try leche flan alone for dessert, I'm pretty sure you're going to love it.. Enjoy your stay here and discover why it is more fun in the Philippines! ;)
I love pork Siopao with Hoisin. Never heard or tasted a chocolate Siopao. It would be a great desert served after pork siopao. Chicken oil over rice. We grew up with that. Anytime we made a stir fried anything and there was anything left in the pan, then we would toss rice into it and serve it. It's not healthy, but oh it's good. You can add veggies or an egg, but straight up greased up rice was always great with over-easy eggs and Filipino pork sausages (longanisa) for breakfast. Try dumping some rice into your Bob Evans breakfast sausage drippings. Just a light dusting of food oil. Don't drench the rice in oil. Your lubed up and ready to go.

6:52- Mang Inasal originated in the city of Love -Iloilo City- just to make information right. It is also under the Jollibee Foods Corp. Its first store is located at the Robinsons Place Iloilo-
He is referring to the dish not to the fast food restaurant itself.
