Those kids are telling the truth. The other side of that road is already BGC (Kalayaan Avenue side). You were under the newly built flyover connecting BGC to Ortigas Center. If only you listened to them, you could have reached your destination in less than 5 minutes. The direction they pointed at is the 8th Avenue of BGC going to Uptown BGC. I used to traverse that road everyday going to our office in BGC.

The kids you ask where is BGC it's not messing you. They said the right way because if you are going to commute using a public jeep There's a specific road way for a public jeep. Because in metro manila there's a specific road way just for a public jeep to commute.so that if you use a goggle map it's only effective if you have a car service or grab or taxi. That is why there's a different kind of vehicle that we use on public transportation here in the Philippines.

Realtor here. Those are rich subdivisions sure, but you can't say BGC residents are middle class. Maybe some are, but a lot are rich. Pacific Plaza, Essensa, Gallery Suites, and especially Horizon Homes at Shangri-la, are only a few of the very expensive condo's with ultra rich residents. Sure many owners don't live there and only lease them out, but still a lot actually reside in those condos.

What I love about the Philippines as a Filipino, Philippines have a good & bad side but I can say that Filipino are resilience, We experienced so many hardship. Our country GDP are not that high compare to other country in southeast Asia, our capital have been largely destroy in the past war but we stand firm and even until now we are the most disaster country in the world, we experienced volcanic eruption, earthquake and each year we experienced 20 typhoon some of the typhoon are strong that affects economy, our tourism, destroy root crops, houses, establishment, cars and also lost so many lives. Some countries maybe looking down on us but I must say we experienced many hardship that makes us strong whatever battles we may face, we will keep standing.

It's a Holiday, dude. It's All Souls Day in the Philippines. People mostly return to their provinces to visit relatives who have passed away. Go to Poblacion in Makati at night to find the best coffee you are looking for. Anyway, just randomly walk so you can discover things that are unique to you. Batangas the southern part of the provinces in Luzon produces good coffee beans so expect to have local coffee shops there. You may visit the nearby mall in BGC called Market Market for some local goods.

Angkan Coffee is the local coffee brand that you're looking for! I saw a video post about it a few months back and it's cool to actually offer local coffee made from coffee beans harvested around the PH (Batangas, Sagada, etc.) to the locals. I haven't been back to Manila in a decade so I can't say how good it is.
Sizzling sisig is usually made of a pig's face (jowl and ears). It's best when sprinkled with some calamansi (local lime fruit) and local chili peppers (for that spicy kick), eaten with plain rice and paired with ice-cold San Miguel beer.

So many foreigners retire in places like Cagayan De Oro, Davao and Samal island. There are big retirement communities there. Foreign people can buy non-land based real estate (condos) but you will need a Filipino partner to buy a land-based home.Mindanao is also way cheaper than Manila or Luzon. Were thinking early retirement in a couple of years (were early 50s) but dont plan to buy a property in the Phils. We are just staying in long term airbnbs and only stay there during the winter months of Canada.

As a South African, I am loving the Philippines more and more. I have come to understand that middle income earning countries like Thailand, South Africa, Morocco, Philippines, Iran, Brazil and a few others, have their poor places but also they have their middle class and upper middle class.

Just take note that each city has its own rich and poor area and they usually are just a stones throw away from each other. . Keep vlogging about our country. Enjoy!

Realtor here, and former AAV resident. Lotsa comments saying that residents in BGC aren't exactly rich/ only middle class. That's not accurate.
Sure the very rich indeed live in the exclusive gated communities, but there are plenty as well who live in the high end BGC condo's.
Essensa, Pacific Plaza, Arya, and especially Horizon Homes at Shangri-la, are only a few examples of condo's that range from 30M to 300M (yes meron, yung sa Horizon Homes), with actual unit owners residing in their units.
The condo dues alone, paid monthly, are the equivalent of a monthly amortization, ranging from 30k up. Not to mention condo utilities for daily AC use. They're that rich.
It's the same in Rockwell, lotsa ultra rich living in the high end condos. Rizal Tower is a prime example.

    • @uchniezt1212
      @uchniezt1212 5 днів тому

Also, Acqua is not in Manila. It's in Mandaluyong -- a city on its own.
Rockwell is not in Manila. It's in Makati -- a city on its own.
BGC is NOT in Manila. It's in Taguig -- a city on its own.
"Manila" refers ONLY to the capital city located at the west coast of the NCR.
Such an irresponsible vlogger considering it's not hard at all to name your locations properly -- we have Google.

In PH not all rich people live in luxury condo units, building residential suites, yes they have several units for a quick stay but most of the rich lives in a gated community subdivision or townhouses. Some lives outside the big cities on the country side with their own farmlands and resorts on a wide property some near beaches or hillside overlooking towns and cities close to nature far from traffic and hectic city life. For long term it's advisable to have your own lands/properties rather than live in a building unit that would decrease in value when the whole structure gets old and unsafe to live in.

Plus, misplacing the areas on where you can find what in Manila, but talking like you know, is also. And all the people you ask told you that you are in the wrong place and that the areas called different, they are not messing with you, the problem are you who cannot admit that you just dont know it right. Believing you are right and all the others are wrong is problematic behaviour.
