Little different than the video's I usually upload since this channel is more an archive of shows than specific projects, but it's still a live Tool video so it's getting uploaded here. I took the time to figure out which show this drum cam footage was from since as far as I know, it was unknown. I had to check for all the shows from 2002 with the same setlist, then go one by one listening to each show to find a match. And I found it on the August 30th show in Cleveland, OH.
There are 2 different audio sources of this show, so I combined them both and did some EQ work on each source to bring up the drums a little in the mix. Sounds much better than the old cam audio. I also used AI frame interpolation to bring the video to 60fps which looks pretty good too. I figured it only looks this good because of AI in the first place, might as well use it a little more.
Of course, the original upscale was done by iiiGerardoiii and his video was the inspiration for me to even bother figuring out what show this footage is from. I used his edit as a base to work on. You can still see his watermark in the bottom right corner. If you somehow haven't seen his video yet, make sure you check it out.

This is probably as far as AI tech can push these old 422x238 drum cam videos, originally from dannycarey.org. For now anyway... I'm just glad there was some good audience recordings of this show to work with. It's great to watch these videos with the full sound of the band in tact finally.
43:00 I´m here for that moment.
that's so cool
Has a shout back to John Bonham because he respects the art of drumming that's why he's the best
It's was even better live
I was waiting for it! I didn't see the gong in the shot so I didn't know if he would do it. It's so fucking cool.
me toooooo 😂😂😂
Danny in his prime. The perfect synthesis of athleticism and musicianship. Never tire of watching this, and even better now. Thanks for this.
I mean to be honest, I've recently been to a concert. And Danny is in his prime right now too, hahah!
He’s always in his prime 😂
When i finally go to see what he does for stinkfist at a drum cam pov i ascended
When was he not in his prime? I've seen Tool four times and as recently as this summer. I am convinced they've never been as good as now, 2024. Fine wine... Just keeps getting better.
Yeah watching his live pneuma performance feels like prime danny
I got to live at the same time as this band. I got to see them live several times and enjoy their art as it was released. I was truly blessed.
The goat of all goats that ever goated
3:47 time stops when you see this live
I so fucking believe you.
This video and the Vic Ferth video should go in some museum. Just chilling and amazing drum work!

Thanks for your awesome work… this ROCKS!!! 🤘🏻
Incredible effort thanks brother!!!!
amazing job man
This is fucking sick. I grew up on these old clips on his website so this means a lot to me and so many others. Thanks dude.
Nice work man
All this perfection and they dont play to a click. Wild.
Well three of them are definitely playing to a click
@@sonoluminescent👌👏
A click would be pretty much impossible. Just Schism alone has 12 different time signatures
@@user-pl5ds8iz6q can a click be programmed to support that?
@@shawnfallahi5616 yeh a click can be set to change time signatures, even tempos
The end of Grunge @6:32 reminds that me as much as I've seen them live and as many Danny videos I've watched, he never ceases to amaze me. So damn clean.
Simply amazing, I was extremely lucky to see them a few times on this tour. This music is the soundtrack to most important decade of my life and it helped me through some super tough times, I thank God for Tool!
Im just in awe, the power, the way he makes it look effortless, the intricacies, but mostly the attention to detail, and to be able to experience it now with a better audio and video, truly makes this a work of art, all hail Danny the GOAT! 🐙🐙🐙🐙
I was fortunate to catch 7 shows on the Lateralus tour and it was absolutely some of the most amazing musical experiences I've had or ever will. They've always been great, but nothing compares to the fall 01/02 run. Each member was at their peak. And Maynard still screamed.
16:12 it’s amazing how the human mind works. While he’s focusing on picking up a new stick with his left hand, another part of his brain was telling his right arm to reach across and hit the snare at the exact moment.
The human octopus lost a tentacle, and didn't miss a beat, he just adapted that fast. The man is a genius
That shizz can't be faked! He has to give 200% every show! It's phenomenal!
I was at this concert! First of three times I've seen Tool. I always say if there was a concert I could attend again, it would be this one. What a setlist!
Bro... i wanted to see if there was a crowd recording of this show to get the better audio and took less then a min to find this... thank you brother, My high will not go wasted tonight.
Awesome. Glad to see this legendary video with some great new audio. I think this may be some of the best Danny footage on the internet and if anyone knows of better then I beg you to point me to it.
This era the band live was actually insane, I saw them tour Sydney in 2001 on this Lateralus tour. The show finished with the song Lateralus mixed with explosions and contortionists and as a 17 year old my brain pretty much had exploded
The Master at work
Amazing. Saw them live a few months ago, fantastic.
God damn this audio is great. Can almost hear everything crystal clear
11:05 end of Stinkfist notice Maynard sings Elvis "Suspicious Minds."
yup! i noticed it.
I wonder how many other people recognized it? I almost didn’t, but for the fact that I watched it second time
Danny has such great crash cymbal technique. Must be a (really good) habit left over from the days when he couldn’t afford to just have a new crash cymbal at will.
One of the best
Your favourite drummer's favourite drummer
Thank you a million times for your effort! 🧡
thank you for including the very very end of Lateralus without the video
HOLY SHIT🤘🤘IVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND VIDEOS OF JUST HIM PLAYING!!! THANK U!!!!!!
As a long time Tool fan and having seen them in concert 6 times in 4 different countries, I am kinda amazed that it took yt 5 months to show this to me ..... I have only watch the Vic Firth video ~50x ;)
Its interesting how his setup but most importantly his hand techniques were tweaked slowly to where they are now. It clearly wasn't holding him back but I think his left hand is faster now than it was then and he seems more comfortable playing even so many years later.
What he's doing at 40:58 is extremely difficult.
We saw this tour in Tacoma WA. 1st concert after 911 + all the madness / fear.
It was strange in that regard, but they were incredible as always of course.
That's awesome, thanks for making it!
The end of The Grudge is on the Mt Rushmore of drum parts
I saw them for the first time this tour and watched Danny the whole show. Powerful drummer, gos through 3 snare heads a show I think he said. He hit even harder back in the Undertow touring days.
By this tour you meant the 2002 Lateralus one or now supporting Fear Inoculum?
@@Qliphirot I saw them for the Lateralus tour in late 2001, Washington DC. I saw them once again a couple years later in between album releases and then finally for the 10,000 days tour. Both of those shows were in Baltimore. I am personally not a fan of Fear Inoculum so had no desire to see that tour.
@@actionjackson8439 You're lucky you saw them in their peak. I was between 7-8 years old during that tour.
@@Qliphirot I was 10 when Opiate came out and 11 when Undertow was released and feel the same as you about that time period wishing I could have seen them then. Those were my favorite Tool albums when Maynard was pissed and yelling.
what a gem
What a treat. There's something about this band thst just puts me where I need to be. I hope to meet Danny someday and jam out. Don't we all.
So good.
This is amazing thank you!
Absolute gold ' thanks so much for uploading this
Even Maynards voice is amazing here
Yeah he's crushing it
Ram Ram Ram God Bless Danny Carey Ram Ram Ram
Thanks for the Upload! I hope we will see the cut out sections one day!
I was about to trash you for being another youtube account that posted popular videos to trick people. It seems like everytime I follow a topic, I realize after a couple clicks they are the same videos, that someone else hijacked. Glad I read your description. My comment to you is THANKS for your time and effort to bring us this great video,
Monster drummer
Nice I was at this show
Someone versed in law that loves TOOL really should figure out how to lobby or petition to get them to make a live DVD.
Thank you so much for this.
ToolConcerts100,te pasaste ..tu trabajo de mejoras es notorio, gracias amigo
a joy to watch🎉
What a BEAST!!
Thanks for the good audio
I was really hoping that section was in this vid 9:18. One of my favourite live additions to their songs and it made my night!
11:05 was something of a happy surprise, haha!
Jesus that section at 9:18 :OOOOOO mother of god finishing on the pad to make the FX was ridiculous
I was there!! It was awesome!!!
Was this at the wolstien center? I think I was there also!
@@gabrieldickey4764 No man, it was at the Gund Arena. Now called the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse...
Truly a genius.
Wow this is absolutely incredible, thank you, looks and sounds amazing. Only bit of feedback would be to somehow make the snare louder
43:00
haha, holy shit, I thought the whole damn arena would come down XD
i wish i was there
I was hopeful they would play Lateralus on this previous tour. I’d imagine they could produce neat visuals to go along with the song in 2024.
I was there such a great show.
Omg thank you
Man....wish I had been at this concert in 2002 rather than whatever other BS I was doing.
sad that it gets cut so much in middle
Very fuckin cool, thank you.
Omg 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I wonder what snare Danny was using during this time. Maybe the HLD? Could've just as well been a custom made Paiste one just like the kit.
When did he start putting the hi hat in the center
in the middle of the first lateralus tour
Imma need more FPS plz
ua-cam.com/video/Lawu_5p8Kg4/v-deo.htmlsi=11K7z2BSsMAaTMXl&t=970 Danny rejects his current left hand stick and grabs a new one, seamlessly!
Epic drumming, poly rhythms n shit lol
The only drummer that matters
Much smaller kit than his current one
Thought it was me ... 13:18 ... imposssible ...
what? i dont understand
I personally know the person running this channel, and they don't look both ways before crossing the road.
Feels too synthetic when watching
💔 'promosm'
You could stop at any point in this video and it sounds like the same song, god this band is so overrated
You’re the one here watching it
Oh how that kit grew in 22 years
yeah that one moment when he looks at the camera
15:52
badass
