I am brand new to nails after a disappointing nail tech experience, so I thank you Karen for very clearly explaining things right from step one. Even though videos are for "beginners" some people skip steps beginners often wouldn't in their explanations, and you do not. Thank you!
I love Clear Sculptor in the jar for building out my extension first. Especially in Atlanta summers. The thick consistency let’s me build out my tip with the time I need to shape it and not have it in a puddle on the floor. Then I use the precision applicators to build the rest of the nails one at a time.
Good tips - thank you. Karen sure loves her purple nails. The set you're wearing in this video is so pretty! I love the muted tones with the gorgeous glitter. Nice balance!
I just bought my first kit, waiting for it. I used to do my own nails but without acrylic and I used to make them look real and they use to last me at least 2-3 weeks then of course I stopped and started doing my nails at the salon. Nowadays salons are not great, the people working are rude and not friendly and they're also doing not a great job. The last person I saw she did my nails great but I guess she didn't like me because she never took me back 🥺🤷🏽♀️ no reason whatsoever. So I thought about it and said why go somewhere to pay someone to do your nails and an attitude smh so I recently bought a machine and few tools and bought a bit I'm willing to spend my money in a store to buy my products.. I really hope I can do this, I will do my all to learn and get better at it every time. These videos will definitely help me, they're already helping me because Ive learned a lot watching these videos . If I get professional I will definitely open my own business and hired the best nail techs and friendly. I want my shop to be unforgettable with my staffs and my work (job). I will definitely treat every lady like a lady, how we suppose to be treated when going to these places. I will also make sure I have some champagne for my clients to sip while doing their nails and feet. Looking forward to doing all this.
I've been doing nails for 25 years and have never once done a set of gels. I'm awesome with acrylics so I've always stuck with that. We never focused on those in school.
I LOVE this video - for someone who's slowly working my way into the hard gel system, this is very helpful. Also, new base gels in the tub? Hellooooooo shopping cart for the sale 😈😂
Yeess!! Thank you! I needed a better understanding of ur gel system and how to. I love ur products but didn't want to purchase without knowing how to use it. Plus with the ones I have I minorly misused them. Prime example, I didn't know concealer peach/pink was for base as well. 😯😯😯 I definitely needed to know that for my art work. Thanks!! 🤗🤗🤗 💅🏾💅🏼💅💅🏿
Love the brush cleaning info at the end! Any chance of getting a video (or part of a video) on which products would be best to mix a milky white gel? I know y'all have done it with acrylic but I don't use acrylic, only gel, and I really want to make up a pot of milky white. Please and thanks! 😘
@@Anon_E_Muss I've tried it before and the only advice I can give is to start with clear and slowly add white to it instead of adding clear to white (if that makes sense). Once it's too opaque with the white, it's a pain to get it translucent. It doesn't take much white.
What do y’all use to clean up with or best practices to keep my work area clean when using gel? I do my own nails and I always get sticky everywhere. Especially on my jars, brush handle, and tile. I feel like no one else talks about the struggle of the clean up. I had a whole pot spill out into my organizer once and it was a nightmare. I just thew the whole thing away… organizer and the pot.
Before addressing how to clean up the sticky, it's best to figure out why everything is getting sticky. As you are working, make sure you aren't pulling the gel from the pot and creating a string of it. If you are pulling this string out of the pot, it can start to get on the sides of your jar and run down the edges. Once the outside of the jar has gel on it, everything (including your hands and table) will get sticky. When you notice a sticky area, use a lint free wipe with some Swipe or acetone to clean it off right away so it doesn't spread elsewhere. As for your jars tipping over, always make sure you clean the threads of your jars when you are done using them (again with a lint free wipe and Swipe/acetone) so the caps can get a good seal and are less likely to leak. Also, it is best to store your gels in a flat drawer, not stacked on top of each other so there is less chance of getting knocked over.
Great Video as always ❤️ I never knew what YN Flex gel was for, & thank you for talking about it. I learned something new today 😍 I love that most about your channel! Thank you! I do have a couple questions though... If I didn’t have flex gel and only had base gel would it also work for mixing glitter and then you could encapsulate it? I would assume you could encapsulate the glitter/ base gel mixture with Clear Precision Gel or Clear Sculptor Gel for the best structure and strength? Oh, and YN Clear Sculptor Gel in the pots converted me from using Acrylic about 4 yrs ago.YN Clear Sculptor Gel in the pots just don’t move! + it gives me plenty of time to perfect my gel application. It is a great product for beginners and those of us who love acrylic. I just don't have the time it takes to perfect acrylics after being out of doing nails for many years. YN Clear Sculptor Gel in the pot is still my favorite nail enhancement product. I was a little surprised when I used the Precision Applicator Clear Sculptor it acted different and now I know why :( Last but not least... I also wish you would sell the Blush Precision Gel in pots it is another one of my favorite gels. I just love the shimmer I use it for all my cover pink... Some girls never have enough glitter ;) YN is the best gel on the market and yes I have tried them all... #nailtechforova20yrs😍 #i❤️YNgel #olddognewtricks
We don't recommend mixing glitter with the base gel but you can mix it with clear sculptor if you don't have flex. It will just be a thicker consistency.
Can someone explain base gel vs builder gel? My gel extensions lift almost immediately no matter what kind of prep I do and I feel like I might be missing a step.
I would check the top of the jar and bottom to make sure the both say clear sculpture. Either way, you can contact our customer service team to get the correct product. Business hours are M-F 8:15 am - 5 pm PST. Contact customer service at 1.800.777.9170 or by email at info@youngnails.com
Question- I used build pink mixed with white and clear and after curing it has a yellowish tarnished look. I was working on myself and I had to cure one nail at a time because of the design I was doing...did it turn because it was over cured? I can't do all 5 fingers on my own hand at once so idk how else to approach it if that is the case...thank you for any help! Love all you do for the nail community ❤️
Did it turn yellow after curing the white or after applying a top coat? The product itself won't "over cure," but some top coats will have a slight yellow tint when they come out of the light. That discoloration will bleach itself out after a short time and go back to normal.
@@youngnailsinc it turned before the top coat. It wasn't straight white - it was synergy build pink, build clear and white mixed - idk if that makes a difference. I had a beautiful translucent light pink and I noticed that it yellowed after I cured my 3rd nail.
I don't know what I'm doing but I always no matter what brand it will eventually peel off like a plastic😂🥴🥴. Even if I use a base its just annoying even the acrylic starts to look like plastic.
@@youngnailsinc well I file my nails wipe them then use dehydrater I place my nail tip on the next step I have tried 2 ways I use a base coat then apply builders gel on thin coat then i cure for 2 minutes I apply a thicker coat cure for 3 mins I apply another coat of builders cure 2 mins the apply a top coat all uv also tried using no base coat but I still get the same results it just lifts x
Can you address lifting? I'm having a lot of lifting after doing thorough nail bed and cuticle prep, I leave a decent margin between the cuticle and the hard gel... Having significant lifting after a week. Especially on my dominant hand. Any suggestions? My lamp is working correctly.
@@monicalockard8109 I use both. Protein bond but I don't let it flood the cuticle when applying, also a thin layer of base that does not touch the cuticle or skin.
Are your hands in water a lot? Especially hot water? I was having that same problem until I started wearing dish gloves for washing dishes and cleaning.
@@youngnailsinc I use that diamond cuticle bit after pushing back cuticles, then sanding band lightly on 4rpm then scrub with swipe / manicure brush parallel to nail beds. Then dehydrate with swipe, once dry two coats of protein bond being careful not to over saturate the cuticle area. I work with my hands in water and do short nail extensions on forms.
