I've been using an acrylic dip system for ages, as it seems to work well for my clients and myself, plus their is little no no smell. Although I've used gel in the past, I've steared away from it because it self levels an I found it runs into the side walls and cuticles. So haven’t finished the video yet but I’ve been using gel over acrylic recently because acrylic smells and I’ve been traveling a big the last few months and don’t want to stink up hotel rooms with the fumes. I’ve been using I.B.D clear builder gel and I’ve been prepping my nails fine, removing the cuticle and filing the shine away. Then I’ll apply the I.b.d primer and start working. When I cure it, it burns my nail plate, even in the lowest setting and then sometimes when I’m done and I’m filing it starts lifting! Like I spent so much time on all that and it’s lifting as I’m filing, it’s completely cured but does that, then if I get lucky and that doesn’t happen, the nails come off easily and lift within a week. Never had that issue with acrylic before. Also I use tips because I’m not good with forms.
I’m not familiar with I.B.D gel. I could trouble shoot with our Synergy Gel with you if you were using it. Try our Base & either our clear build or one of our Councilor Gels! You will love them! 🤩💖💅🏻✨
I've been using thick hard gel in a jar for many many years and use it on the majority of my clients. The one thing I want to say is always put a really good layer of thick hard gel or even acrylic underneath all your gel polish or glitter acrylic fun colors. That way when you sand it off you don't get near the natural nail. I get tired of seeing videos where they put color gel or acrylic right on the natural nail that is terrible and very hard to get off. I'll get a new client every now and then that used to go to the walk-in salons, I start to sound off their gel polish to find there's a thin little sad layer of so-called base gel underneath then I have to soak their hand and acetone it's a real pain. If you put a good thick layer underneath the colors, it sands off very very quickly, faster than soaking.
This video was soo helpfull. I have been doing my own nails as a hobby for a long time. For now, I only do hybrid gel on my nails as it is the easiest to start with, but I really want to start doing gel nail this video made me realize that I can make the free edge a thinner than that I do normally.
Thank u so much for this tutorial. As a beginner who prefers a gel overlay, all of your tips were so helpful. I like gel because it allows me more time to work with it vs acrylic that sets rather quickly. I need to invest in a better brush than the one I'm currently using. To be honest, it's not very good but it's all I have right now. I too am super meticulous when it comes to shaping and filing and I always end up where the center is thinner than the sides so I'm so glad you touched base on that. However as I watched, I found that I did do what you did to correct the issue so I patted myself on the back for that, lol and I also like a squoval nail. It's just so classy looking and elongates my chubby fingers 😂. I'm going to order a new brush tonight and upon my next fill, I will use what I learned. Sending xo to the young nail crew...
That’s so awesome!! 🙌🏼😉✨ Thank you fir sharing that with us!! The brush I was using is amazing & make a world of difference with your application! Enjoy!! 🙏🏻💖💅🏻✨🤩

These are such great tips. The best tips I’ve seen for base/builder gel. Thank you for all the details!!

I like her work she is very good in taking us step by step love it
This video was soo helpfull. I have been doing my own nails as a hobby for a long time. For now, I only do hybrid gel on my nails as it is the easiest to start with, but I really want to start doing gel nail this video made me realize that I can make the free edge a thinner than that I do normally.
What does the 'hybrid' consist of- powders?
Enjoy!! 🙏🏻💖💅🏻✨🤩
