A way to keep the bottom of your trekking pole in place. Find a drink bottle or other plastic bottle that the hand end of your trekking pole will fit in. Cut it down to make a small cup. Put a small hole in the middle of the bottom. When needed Put the cup where needed ,put a tent peg through the hole in the cup and stake it down. Put the hand end in the cup. Claire, you are by far my new favorite channel. Thank you. I love that you film rain when it happens at night. My son and I were wild camping for the first time recently, and the original spot we wanted to camp had people there, so we walked off path in the nation forest and ended up with an incredible spot for our hammocks! You're right, things didn't go as planned, but probably our best camp ever!

Another amazing video, Claire! I enjoy all your vids, but this one may be my all time fave so far. Your enthusiasm, humour and above all, your overt joy and happiness derived from simply enjoying nature are an inspiration to us all. This was a fantastic reminder that the great outdoors doesn't shut down for the winter. With the minimal amount of the right kit, winter outdoors can be as enjoyable as all the other seasons. Love the fact that you're willing to share your own learning curve, as nobody ever learned anything by never messing up from time to time. However, your solutions are always well thought through and highly intelligent, when you encounter difficulties. I'm starting to "gush" a bit now, but just wanted to say well done for all you do and for inspiring many of us to get out of the house and enjoy what's out there. Also, loved the drinking straw montage at the end [comedy magic] :D
Heyy Jeff 👋 naww thanks so much, you are too kind 🤗 yehh I wouldn't get very far pretending that it all goes to plan all the time because it usually doesn't haha! Still just so nice to be out though. Glad you enjoyed the lil LifeStraw montage too 😄😄 Merry Christmas to you and yours 🎄🎅 Claire 🐻

This was quite a video! I am always astonished by your ability to thrive in some pretty challenging conditions! Very amazing. I love to watch your videos as I like to hike and camp. I am astonished though at your willingness to use an open tarp and ground sheet in rain and heavy wind and soggy ground. I admit appreciate a conventional tent with poles to keep the rain and wind out. I was very entertained by the Lifestraw and of course especially how you demonstrated drinking straight out of the source. That looks super inconvenient but also looks like a very useful backup. Your videos are beautiful! I live in USA so I'm not familiar with those areas at all. The SLUGS FREAK ME OUT A LITTLE. We don't have anything like that where I am and it's likely because it gets very cold here in the winter. I can't image waking up with those crawling all over your tent and everything including your own self! Wow. Thanks for working really hard to share something really nice!
Beautiful territory Claire. Love the intro edit of the 'rude' "culprit". I noticed the quick-bog changed your plans... but as usual, you just simply keep going. Another fantastic video I smiled the entire way through.
Evening Claire, just watched a couple of your videos for the first time. Excellent stuff! I started camping in the Lakes with my school aged 14, then lived in a Welsh mountain village for ten years in the 70s. A good life. Came back to England to get a grown up job and for the most part got consumed with my family and career. Now well retired and a bit cut off from adventure. Watching your adventures, your deep joy and the visceral quality of your work has reminded me of just how much I delighted in that life. Maybe it is time to plan my next adventure. Thank you.

Claire, Claire, Claire. Good to see you out and about on another adventure. Love the contrast of landscape colors. You are an impressive Lass as you constantly evolve in skills, gear, and mindset. In the Algonquin Park I love so much I'd be more concerned about evening visits by bears, moose, wolves and snakes etc. Especially if my legs are sticking out of my shelter. I absolutely love your tenacity and grit. Life isn't always perfect. But it does teach valuable lessons along the way. Well done all around. Doesn't Lifestraw have a 3L hang up filter bag? Anyways, I enjoyed the excursion and as someone else commented. It's better than what's on tv. Many blessings Lass. Irish Bob says hello and enjoy your upcoming Christmas and New Years.😇🤗😎🍀🇨🇵
Hello dear Irish Bob :) 👋 thank you so much, it was beautiful out there despite the moody darkness that weekend, I loved it LifeStraw may do a 3L filter bag, I'm not sure. But I've since got their filter squeeze bottle, which I'm loving! I used it on my snowy wild weekend (on the editing pile) and it was really convenient You have some scary wildlife in your parts! We are quite fortunate here.. the only thing I fear here is ticks haha Thank you for watching my lil video and hope you have a wonderful Christmas! 🎅🎄 Claire 🐻

Just realized my spelling error. Should read son. Bloody small phone buttons. The kind of phone I need is about the size of a small billboard🤓🤓Or a hat with binoculars built in.
Claire, We kinda take it for granted but you're all alone so you are your own camera person, how did you learn your skills for cinematography? You have great camera work, multiple camera angles including aerial shots all edited perfectly. Did you go to film school? What cameras do you use ? How do you achieve your camera setups? What editing software do you use? How do you blend it all seamlessly together including the music? Maybe I'm asking too many trade secrets, sorry. It would really be cool if you did a behind the scenes video explaining how you are able to create the magic being a solo production crew of 1 person. Anyways love the work! Keep the adventures coming!
Another awesome video and adventure Claire! This was a really fun one to watch :) Some of those shots of you getting a drink with that LifeStraw looked like they required some interesting yoga positions, haha ;) I can absolutely relate to what you said near the end of the vid about preferring to be out in the wild versus sitting at home scrolling through social media... so much more rewarding and soul inspiring! I hope that you have an amazing weekend and a very Merry Christmas my friend! Stay wild.... -John
I have one of those life straws, I fitted a non return valve and a longer tube so I don’t have to bury my head in a stream to drink 🤣🤣 like your cup idea though! Great video as always Claire 😊👍🏽♥️⛺️
As ex British Army, all I can say is well done. Now imagine doing that every night and carrying a rifle, ammunition etc then staying up during the night to stag on sentry or go on a patrol and repeat it day after day.
Thanks for this video, it was great as always. And I must say I am impressed. This hike would have been very challenging mentally and physically for most people and you made it look easy. And on top of that, you were filming.

Great video, camera and drone work Claire, impressive and always look forward to a new video. Your watering hole trials at the end was funny. You are just a natural reporter. Thanks.
Hi Wildbeare. Thanks for taking us along on another adventure in your beautiful countryside. The mountains, forests and meadows are gorgeous. Thanks also for the lifestraw hack of drinking from a cup or pot. I carry one with me but always hate trying to get my face down near the water to drink. Well, no more, I’ll just scoop up water and drink standing up. Brilliant idea!
Another beautiful video, some quite stunning photography. I'm glad you found the slug, because I once woke covered in a very similar slime when I was in the Navy. That definitely wasn't a slug though.
I appreciate that you find joy and beauty even in the rough times. That slug though‼️ It’s amazing how you can get down and up wearing your pack! You are strong!
The peaceful atmosphere of the camping place, I am very excited to carry out this activity in the new year season. I really love camping activities like this.
Your editing is absolutely superb! Your fade to black on your first night was so beautiful, especially using Fragil Stevie/ jobii as your music. You're such bad-ass! Thanks.
I love your videos you capture the feeling of being out in the elements so well. You make your trips so easy for everyone to understand. You also show the doing some you love is so good for your mental wellbeing. Thank you for sharing your adventures and everything your learning while your on your adventures with us. I miss being out in the hills and mountains and you have brought back all the sounds and smells back to me. Thank you again 💓
Nice video. If you add a poncho to your kit, you can use it to cover the opening of your shelter and use it as rain gear. Happy Holidays and a Healthy New Year. Good Luck, Rick
I'm new to your channel and am loving it. The slug incident had me shivering! Reminds me of sleeping in a friend's house once, opening my eyes and seeing a mahoosive cockroach laying next to my head on the pillow! I moved so fast I broke the sound barrier. Yikes. I love how you do these camps alone! I wish I had it in me but I'd be a nervous wreck and a wimp with things like slug and the dark. Nature is so wonderful, I wish I was able to do the things you do.

Aren't these telegram one not from you or actual person youtube channel , I heard most are hacks 🤷 what say you Clarie 🤔
Superb as uaual Claire. I really do get totally engrossed in these videos , and love how they're always "warts-n-all" which just makes them all the more relatable to me. Editing is off the scale, and...WHAT a beautiful place. Snowdonia? All the best Claire.
❤ totally amazing time and again , I just love these mini adventures there so life affirming . Keep up the good work your doing a brilliant job.
Glad I came across your channel I already have a love for all things outdoors. But you've inspired me to get out a wild camp a lot more than I thought I wanted to. Love all your videos thanks for posting and helping me learn how to wild camp properly 😊
Hi Adrian, ahh this is so lovely, I'm still learning myself but that's so nice of you to say, thank you :) happy camping 🏕 😊
I deeply, deeply miss the sea, but I am rewarded with the open sky and the wind being a loving thing and *no gd slugs!* I can’t STAND slugs!
Irish Bob says hello and enjoy your upcoming Christmas and New Years.😇🤗😎🍀🇨🇵
Hello dear Irish Bob :) 👋 thank you so much, it was beautiful out there despite the moody darkness that weekend, I loved it
LifeStraw may do a 3L filter bag, I'm not sure. But I've since got their filter squeeze bottle, which I'm loving! I used it on my snowy wild weekend (on the editing pile) and it was really convenient
You have some scary wildlife in your parts! We are quite fortunate here.. the only thing I fear here is ticks haha
Thank you for watching my lil video and hope you have a wonderful Christmas! 🎅🎄 Claire 🐻
@@WildBeare Tis a grand day indeed to receive a reply.
May you and your sin be blessed in all areas of your lives in the coming 2023 year.
Looking forward to seeing new and exciting excursions. I'm sure you'll include reviews of new gear along the way.

Just realized my spelling error. Should read son.
Bloody small phone buttons. The kind of phone I need is about the size of a small billboard🤓🤓Or a hat with binoculars built in.
U are brave person Claire. travel alone in the wilderness.I love your video so much.
Claire,
We kinda take it for granted but you're all alone so you are your own camera person, how did you learn your skills for cinematography?
-John
Hi John! Aw thank you, haha yeh using the Lifestraw was interesting 😅 wishing you and yours a wonderful Christmas 🤗🎄🎅
@@WildBeare You're very welcome Claire! Thank you for the Christmas wishes 😊
I think the 'Life Straw' would have to be substituted by at least one can of cold beer.
Really love the drone vertical shot of the second pitch !
What an absolutely beautiful wooded valley. Love your little tarp and the morning coffee looked awesome! Beautiful photography. Thanks for sharing Dave 🇬🇧 🇳🇿
Great video, camera and drone work Claire, impressive and always look forward to a new video. Your watering hole trials at the end was funny. You are just a natural reporter. Thanks.
Happy New Year Will. Great to see you back on the Road. Steve & Anne IOW 😎
Very beautiful video! The stars thru the trees was awesome! Your tarp setup was very impressive! Thank you for sharing.
Another beautiful video, some quite stunning photography. I'm glad you found the slug, because I once woke covered in a very similar slime when I was in the Navy. That definitely wasn't a slug though.
Claire, thanks for another great adventure. I love seeing your part of the world.
The squeaky door hinge sound bite when you sat up 5:38. 😂👍🏻
Thanks for covering the water filtration. Inspirational as ever.
I appreciate that you find joy and beauty even in the rough times.
That slug though‼️
It’s amazing how you can get down and up wearing your pack! You are strong!
The woods look fantastic in this episode.
The peaceful atmosphere of the camping place, I am very excited to carry out this activity in the new year season. I really love camping activities like this.
Loving your positivity and optimism 😊 It did look pretty tough going at times. Fab video ❤
Your editing is absolutely superb! Your fade to black on your first night was so beautiful, especially using Fragil Stevie/ jobii as your music. You're such bad-ass!
Thanks.
Fantastic stuff ,love your enthusiasm, the cup idea is a great way of not getting soaked getting the dirty water .Happy days 🐻
Thank you, yeh I really enjoyed the lifestraw + cup :) bit of a mare without a cup though haha
Nice one Claire. Loved the amazing, star-studded sky shots from night one, really stunning.😃😃
Nice video. If you add a poncho to your kit, you can use it to cover the opening of your shelter and use it as rain gear. Happy Holidays and a Healthy New Year. Good Luck, Rick
You had nearly had me convinced that even I could tent camp until... SLUGS!!! o-my-effing-god! No way! 🤣🤣🤣
Bravo Claire ! Malgré les conditions atmosphériques difficiles, vous avez réussi ce week-end vaillamment ! Bonjour de France.
