Omg ! Why am i only just seeing this now !! I loved the movie as a kid ! Play the songs all through out my years.. 36yrso and have only just seen this !! I love it soooo much !!
Good to see a band enjoying themselves, and Andrew Strong has a great voice. Pissing myself laughing at his dance moves. But he is having great fun. So are the crowd. Original film was brilliant.
Omg I will never forget singing the backing singing lines with my best friend walking to school, in school, on the train home from school! We loved it! ❤
I saw Andrew in Aus several years ago and he an amazing voice. Hope he comes back again soon. I just think he is awesome. Can't understand why people have to put negative comments. Would love to see how gorgeous 1953Excalibar looks and how well he can sing. Sounds like envy to me.
One of my favorite quotes when Dean says “maybe we’re a little white..” and then later when he’s practicing the sax 🎷 outside he says “ I’m black and I’m proud” I saw this movie as a teenager and I just watched it yesterday I’m now 47. it’s timeless.
When I first saw this film I was blown away and thought he would be an international megastar with that voice. Why wasn't he? Had he appeared a decade later on one of the singing shows, he would have been.
The Commitments has been a long favorite movie of mine and it was fun seeing the video of them still playing.....doesn't have to be perfect I'll always be a fan of theirs even if it was just for a movie
This was an amazing movie. The plot is good, as good as the acting. What is outstanding is the insight on the very real issues a group goes through, not only about attitudes but on musical issues. For somebody that hasn't been in a group is kind of interesting, for those in a group it is required viewing, because it is too real.
I'm so glad to see you have the gift of understanding and compassion to a young man who has been "Obviously mentally and very psychologically abused through clever, evil, manipulation". You can hear it in his voice Rudy 'isn't well'. I've heard 'harsh', 'cold', judgements towards Rudy and I can't believe their blindness and , maybe, prejudice towards him. I hear the tears and tremors in his voice. He's clearly not emotionally or psychology well. May Jesus of Nazareth protect and defend him.
The whole band from the film is there except Maria Doyle, who was one of the three backing singers, and both drummers. Everyone else is present: Outspan, Derek, Dean, Deco, Amelda, the piano player (I forget his name), and the other backing singer (I forget her name).
Is that Dara O'Briain singing? he still a little bit crazy.. love it! so underated as a singer hes one of best around and makes other singers look so ordinary he still a little bit crazy.. love it!
Take it from an old roadie: There are many reasons that a singer might cover one ear -- * Their foldback may be too soft against room noise (audience) or band volume and it helps them pitch better. Because singers don't have a volume knob (like guitarists do) they can end up below the group volume. * They might need to harmonise on top of other singers' notes * It can be a signal to the sound desk asking for more volume in their own monitors * They may have a cold and have a blocked ear * One instrument they usually use to pitch off is going out of tune It's not necessarily a sign of poor singing ability.
I dunno what video you were watching, but in this one there are only two very short instances when she was singing the 4th vocal harmony with a bunch of fucking horns screaming harmonies too. Give it a break mate.
I seem to remember gatecrashing a wedding karaoke and roaring "Ride. Sally Ride" somewhere back in the 90's; up in Yorkshire. Sorry guys and hope you still had a good night and life :)
Das geht ab --------------- ins Wochenende I was pleased at how many people from the movie were in the performing band. "Say it with me- I'm black and I'm proud!"
Saw them in the DeeWhy Beach Hotel Ballroom just up from Manly Beach, NSW, Australia in 1991. Great back then, still great. Must watch the movie again now.
It's a shame Maria Doyle Kennedy didn't return for the gig...she has a great voice. But I think she decided to stay in acting and has done well for herself, including doing work in the US.
This was one of the greatest rock/soul music movies made! The band evolved from the film and they deserved to hit the big time.
Yep! so Great!
Loved Jimmy's song at the end too
Yep that alongside the Blues Brothers
…that’s because they are playing some of the GREATEST music EVER produced.
Love this rendition of “Mustang Sally.” 🌺😮♥️
God! I love these guys! I never get tired of hearing them. Commitments, hope y'all live forever...and keep singing! You are one of the best!
OH,OH OH, YEA!
I agree COMPLETELY
Andrew Strong can still absolutely belt. And Angeline Ball is still beautiful. So cool to see most of the original Commitments.

He was awesome in The Commitments"!!
Remember in the movie, he was only 18 years old. Voices like that come once in a generation.
The best voice in the world. And the ladies-you are beautiful!

That boy can sing!!!!
I’m in Pensacola Mustang Sally blew In disguised as a hurricane A huge healing is taking place in our city it is amazing
God bless you my love your voice is unbelievable.
No, Quanell wasn't lying. I think Rudy was embarrassed and afraid of what he told Quanell.
This is the absolute BEST FOR A HARMONICA. And yes I AM TOOTING MY HORN.
Great freaking song!!
A good singer doesn't need to be constantly covering their ear to hit the notes! His backup girl does it all the time!
Take it from an old roadie:
There are many reasons that a singer might cover one ear --
* Their foldback may be too soft against room noise (audience) or band volume and it helps them pitch better. Because singers don't have a volume knob (like guitarists do) they can end up below the group volume.
* They might need to harmonise on top of other singers' notes
* It can be a signal to the sound desk asking for more volume in their own monitors
* They may have a cold and have a blocked ear
* One instrument they usually use to pitch off is going out of tune
It's not necessarily a sign of poor singing ability.
