Been luv hootie an the blowfish for many many 🌙’s so glad they came in my life an still to this day they fill my soul 💙 an been blessed to have seen them many many times 💙 ohhhhhh yeah Darius is the man 💙
A Bar Band. Cool. Good place to hear Mustang Sally. My daughter named after her gramma. Great song. Great band. She doesn’t have a Mustang. But texting her this wonderful song will make her very happy listening to it. Thanks for sharing with us!!
Hootie and the Blowfish are THE definition of a bar band. I have loved them since seeing them play hole in the wall places in Charleston and Columbia SC. Thanks for upping this.
Used to see them back at the Music Farm back in the early 90's. Great band! Darius can really shred this song in a good way. Think he got pretty tired of always doing it. Glad Hootie had their moment of fame. Great band!
Reminds me of my late Dad. Back in the day (80's), I had a '68 Mustang Fastback and he would call me Mustang Sally and sing this to me all the time! I miss him (and the Mustang) dearly! ☹ Great cover! 💔
Saw the 1996 concert in Columbia, SC.....and swear I saw one of the first FarmAid concerts in the very late '80's in Lexington, SC..Willie Nelson, Dottie West, The Beverly Brothers, and Charlie Daniel's Band was there.....
Does anything in America ever reach a potential where no one comments? No one criticizes, no one condemns, every one agrees and all find the topic being some thing worth while? Controversy is rampant in this nation...I came to this video to listen to see what quality these guys could add to an already fabulous song. After listening the comment section came up.....and Oh brother all these reviews are no reviews at all just a bunch of people who don't know how to play anything...but a radio...a CD player, or itunes on their cell phones. If you can't be positive....who do you think wants to hear your scorn and negativity?
I understand your sentiment and agree to a point. However, as a musician myself, who has played this same song countless times, I think I'm in a position to critique this version to some extent. The tempo was all over the place. Yes, sometimes it was intentional, and that's acceptable. But at other points where the beat should be straightforward, it was a roller coaster ride. The musicianship was good, but nothing exceptional. Does it suck...NO. Was it awesome...NO. Was the song better than any one of the "zillion" times I played it ? That depends on who you ask and the musicians I was playing with.
@ Mike Smith, Exactly Mike, you are dead on. Classic 12 bar blues is the way musicians who never played with each other (or sometimes even met) can get together. The point is to jam and try to fit together, which will never happen the first time. Everybody has to feel each other out and constantly adjust. To see an amazing, (amazingly bad that is), example of this look up on YT the "Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus." They put John Lennon (rhythm and vocals), Eric Clapton (lead guitar) and Keith Richards (bass) together, without any rehearsal, and tried to play "Yer Blues" by Lennon. It was embarrassingly bad. Even guitar heroes can have a bad jam when they haven't worked together before. Darius and the others did better than should be expected for a cold jam in front of a big crowd. IMO of course. Peace Mike, Steve.
P.S. Other good examples of musicians not ready to play together and just going for it in front of an audience can be seen in the videos of just about every Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.
steviea427 Thanks dude. As a musician I've been the "victim" of many an impromptu jam. Predicting the outcome of such an event is nearly impossible. I could call five very talented friends of mine today and cover this song impeccably. On the flip side, I could call five equally talented friends and completely torture it. To James' point, I do think too many have found reason, warranted or not, to disagree with each other in a most uncivil manner. I think we've both shown that you can criticize without insults.
He started out as HOOTIE so why not call him this. People just making a big deal out of nothing. I would think he would appreciate being called this becuz this would mean the person has been following from the beginning. I know I started following him when he was known as "Hootie and the Blowfish. I love his music either way.
"my wifes name is sally, and for her 40th bday I bought her a "red Mustang" we went for a ride " and made her a "mix c.d" for her ,as we were cruising the back roads I had put "mustang sally on it" for got i had did that,Any ways Now when she Leaves for work "she cranks Mustang up In the yard as shes leaving for work, "and her license plates are Sally 1.. lol
my Hot Rod 1988 mustang I bought for my 59th birthday this past March has a tag of Sallie. Corny for my age I guess, but am up for a short race with any punk of my town when challenged. She will pass anything on the road except the gas pump =)
He calls himself Darius Rucker, why would you think he calls himself Hootie? I don't even know of anyone who calls him that other than children or completely incompetent people.
Thanks for the memory
Awesome song.🤙❤ Thanks for bringing it back.Reminds me of first car.MUSTANG 65 dark green. Those hot wheel days. A gift from dad. This man had 🤠Class.

Which was Hootie and which was the Blowfish?
That was his nickname, and the Blowfish was a friend of his
Yes
He calls himself Darius Rucker, why would you think he calls himself Hootie? I don't even know of anyone who calls him that other than children or completely incompetent people.
Whos the fruit with the tambourine?
Nelson Porter , Radney Foster, one of the greatest songwriters ever. 😊
@@lilliesibley3673 He cant sing.
LOL... they wanted hot chicks to come up on stage... oh dear
Ok
Who is the white dude clapping offbeat????!!!
hottie. is good, but he's no wilson
I put Wilson Pickett first and I thought the Commitments did a pretty good job
I just wanted to be comment 100. There were 99
The white guy keeps the beat like only a white guy can. I thought Trump was bad.
Kinda dead ..Nobody's done it better than Wilson Pickett
Dude with the tambourine just stick with that leave the singing to the professionals stop messing it up for them
I thought the same exact thing. I was going to comment but saw you already pointed it out.
He was Darius’ musical idol before he became famous. It was a huge honor to get to sing with him
This just sucks.......
Look in the mirror douche...the view sucks even more!
