Haven't seen the movie, but this is the most Dark Souls thing I've ever seen put to film. Big door leading to boss arena? Check. Crown-adorned corpse, most likely with an interesting story behind it? Check. Big reaper-looking dude manifesting out of dark wisps? Check. Absurdly gigantic glowing fiery sword? Check. Nattering back and forth about souls? Check.
honestly the movie is very good entertainment, the character is from one of the lesser known works of Robert E Howard (creator of Conan the Barbarian) If Im not mistaken he's a descendant of Conan's bloodline in canon.

You know if they did a sequel, maybe it would be good. The only problem now Hollywood has an agenda and they usually just remake everything that has been made. They lack imagination. The original people that made the movie should get a huge payload of money to make a sequel, but Hollywood would not give them the money.

This gotta be one of the best movie openings of all time. You have a protagonist, who acts like a villain, and acts like he is a bad boss... Until "I am the devils reaper!" Then he runs away and decides to spend the rest of his life hiding in a church. 😂

If only the Reaper continued his persuit of him, if he continued to be set in his ways of murder, rape and pillage instead of getting reasonable on us and become such a saint imagine how awesome that would have been him evading death as he looks for an enchanted item to release his soul from the devil or an item the devil would accept for a trade for his soul.
I am not sure about this but this is what I think might be the reason for this film. The grim reaper in this scene might not be the actual grim reaper. This one stated that they are "the Devil's Reaper" which might mean he only takes the souls of the people that made deals with the Devil.

James Purefoy - one of my favourite actors and sadly very underused. He’s very talented but only played small parts in movies until that one. I remember it coming out I was not disappointed and yes it’s one of those unknown and underrated gems of a movies that has all the hall marks of a franchise but never came to fruition sadly.
This movie, Van Helsing, and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen should have all been in the same "universe", and we should have gotten a whole SLEW of films about it. Sigh.

I firmly believe this movie should get a remake. The story is there, the setting is there, tweek it a bot and improve some effects and this could be absolutely incredible.

This was some str8 Castlevania sheit, & I loved it. Best scene in the film.

That would be inconsistent with the original source tough, there's a lot of cool stuff in the comics.
