Lots of Deadlock Lore questions from all these! What do you think Shiv's deal is? Let me know your burning questions and theories! Sorry on the slow upload, GPU death on pc over the last week :(( -Ham
with Shiv, my guess is he's some kind of a vampire considering the blood mechanics, having a very goofy placeholder "monster form" in the files with large fangs, and my buddy mentioned that it would be a good tell that he hangs upside down on the transit line like a bat! edit: OH also the big collar. rockabilly+vampire edit again: if they also named him "Shiv" as a nod to Blade the vampire hunter I swear to god
I apsolutely love the patrons, they're much more then generic announcers and it helps that they're in universe characters. Them praising good players, warning you to focus fed enemies and sounding distressed when enemies enter your base give them so much more personality.
acoording to warden's lore bio, he's trained his whole life to prevent the patrons from being summoned at all. the amber hand patron not being able to read his desires is very interesting
as a dynamo megafan who's analyzed the lines way more than necessary, and considering the patrons seem to try to get at the insecurities of the heroes -- I find it funny that the patron seems to imply his marriage/relationship is at risk. He has SO many quips that make it sound like his wife deeply cares for him and that they're VERY happy together, he seems coded to be a very busy middle aged guy and they're still even planning date nights together. I really just think she minds his current body way less than he thinks, haha
Makes me wonder what the Patrons will do once they're summoned. I'd imagine not something too catastrophic/world ending, since Dynamo seems smart enough and nice enough not to release an omnicidal abomination into the world just so he can have his body back.
@leonardomittmann8919 honestly whatever it is I think it's bad, kind of a "deal with the devil" type situation. At least warden's family thinks it's pretty serious. Dynamo is smart but I wouldn't doubt him going "this is suspicious but it's the only chance I'll get"
After overwatch flopped with their story the bar is in hell 💀 there’s so much potential here though so I’m excited to see when they eventually flesh everything out
The Patron's voice actor sounds veeeeery familiar for those of us who play Guild wars 2. It sounds almost identical to a certain whispering, persuasive ice dragon... edit: yep, same VA! It's Debra Wilson. Funny, because the Patrons and Jormag are very similar entities in how they coerce their champions.
Ivy just being so pure of heart that the only thing the Patrons can really think to offer her is to be able to do more good. X3 Joking aside that's something that while on the surface it doesn't seem to mean much actually I've realized can indicate more than we think about the Patrons' intentions. Because if you think about it, more than any other character, Ivy has the least to gain from summoning the Patrons. All that they promise her is either just a broad power to do good which she already has, securing the future of the Arroyos which again she already has done by saving them and all of Spanish Harlem from the Mendoza Syndicate, or trying to repay the Arroyos' kindness--which AGAIN she already has repaid, tenfold even. Every other character has some kind of need or desire that they haven't already achieved on their own merit. Ivy has no such weakness to pray upon, so the Patrons are preying upon her being naive and fearful of not being good enough or losing what she's gained.
I wonder if the Patron could handle the things I have to effectively say about and towards myself. The things I do to myself mentally. They probably do, and they wouldn't like a double-talker with someone in their own head who could betray the Patron at any moment despite being offered anything in the world. They would probably try to silence, separate, divide, and conquer each part of my brain.
There a lot of errors in your texts in the video, like Geist's name appearing instead of Haze, and you type "people" when the patron clearly says Bebop. Don't rush your vids of an early access game
I hope they strengthen the lore even more. This game deserves Riot/League of Legends levels of world-building

That’s redundant. This is a product of Valve-the characters in their games always have personality and depth. The worlds in their games are told through environmental storytelling, and that has been Valve’s strength for nearly 30 years. I don’t even like Dota 2, but that game had an extensive lore system ever since its Beta release in 2011, while League of Legends didn’t have a proper storyline until like 2016 or 2017? Dota 2 also features a highly detailed dynamic dialogue system, where the character banter is influenced by the environment and in-game situations (a technology Valve already used in Left 4 Dead), further deepening the game’s world. Not to mention, Riot’s writing team is so weak that their lore has been rewritten and patched up multiple times to better fit the game’s world. Riot excels at adding superficial, cheap elements like progressive ideas and LGBT themes to attract Gen Z, and that’s about it. So, don’t compare world-building in Valve games to Riot 🤣.

Building a massive world in a fantasy or sci-fi game isn’t too hard. But creating characters with depth, personality is the real challenge. Riot is doing what Marvel is doing-a universe with many characters, but most of them are bland.
Do have some proof read the auto generated subtitles. For those who are heard of hearing this is really not helpful to have broken voiceline transcripts.

Not exactly true. Patrons probably have been summoned thousands of times and they didn't destroyed the world(Yet?). In visual novel they provide the wish exactly as the person asked.
@@alextheenderwolf1865 yeah, lady geist and I think abrams summoned the patron in one of the storylines and they managed to ask it questions kinda like the genie. Why does grey talon not have any lines from the patron?

I like Seven‘s lines because the patron isn‘t really offering things that he can‘t get himself; he might just be doing this for his own entertainment
