I love when you visit the museums. This one is especially touching. Such a huge part of our history. I had ancestors on both sides and it grieves me to think of family fighting family. Thank you for all the things you showed us. I hope our nation never experiences such a division again. Have a safe trip to England and enjoy every second. HUGS!
We always appreciate your comments and support. It is so sad to think a nation was so divided that war was the only answer. I hope we never have anything close to that again. Can’t wait to show all the cool stuff from England. 👍
one mistake in video. The colors of the sashes identified the part of the army they were in. Yellow is cavalry, red is engineer/ infantry. green is medical
Wasn't set up yet the last time I visited Richmond. Someof the Tredgar Ironworkspart were mazing. Glad they got everything going. I am a Civil war buff but love alll of your videos
My understanding is this museum grew out of the Museum of the Confederacy, which had a definite Lost Cause slant. What was your impression of the current museum? Does it explain the distortions of the Lost Cause point of view? Based on the list of historians advising the museum, I'm hopeful it's not a house of neo-Confederate propaganda.
No I didn’t feel that way at all, although I do feel that “the lost cause” needs to be remembered as well and not forgotten, because it was a huge moment in history as well. I thought it was a more well-rounded story. I even felt that way at the Jefferson Davis House. They didn’t shy away from the truth, but just telling it like it was. I really appreciate keeping these things from the Confederacy in a museum for people to learn from.
@@WalkwithHistory OK, good, that sounds positive. The Lost Cause fascinates me, it may be the part of Civil War history I find most interesting. I agree it needs to be remembered as a cautionary tale of very effective misinformation, but not endorsed or amplified.
Civil War is my favorite period to study and learn about. This museum looks so amazing.
I am so fascinated by anything pertaining to our Civil War. Thanks, Jenn, for sharing this!

Good to know. Thank you. I do think they are a neat part of the uniform that is not used today. At least in the US Navy.

Visit The Puertorican Civil War Museum in The Bronx, NY. (It doesn’t exist) 🤣
Any museum will be great. TY. Cheers.
Ha! I bet there is something in NYC we could visit. 😉
