I followed her instructions verbatim and LOVE my nails!!! I got tired of spending a ton of money to get my nails done at a salon just for the techs to do a sloppy job. MULTIPLE techs... Thanks for this fabulous tutorial! It took me about 1.5 hours to soak my old acrylics off, prep my nails, silk wrap, and paint. I found the exact same products used at Sally's for the extensions and painted them with China Glaze polish (regular not gel).
Wow, so much easier than powder and gel. I moved to FL and nobody here does silk wraps, either with or without extension tips. In NY, no problem. Acrylic has ruined my nails, not to mention everytime I get them applied, the person does a great job the first time, but rushes the fill. There is no consistency to the way my nails look, and they always are too WIDE, too thick, and end up looking like teeth! They destroy my cuticles with filing as well. I can save my cuticles, (and $25 for a fill) and do them myself! I looked online and Sally Beauty has an ASP Light Less gel kit with the resin and the activator. That's where I'm headed. I did my right hand with silk, glue and IBD powder...gonna finish the left with your method! Thanks for sharing!
I've used silk wraps (or tea bag) (at home) on and off for 40+ years and its great that there are resins now, we used to just use nail glue and silk to fix the nails, then use 2 coats of ridgefiller base and polish. Now I do similar to your techinque (without using acrylic powder) BUT started using 1 coat of resin (or nail glue which is thinner) BEFORE adding the silk. I have very little lifting if I do to much house cleaning without gloves. Now that my breaks are grown out I have long healthy nails using just Gelous, OPI and seche vite.
You can also add up to 3 layers of silk onto the nail, and repeat the entire process if you want a thicker super strong nail more similar to an acrylic. These nails grow out with your natural nail. No need for fills, so that is a great benefit. Although, the very skilled nail artist can paint a graduated acrylic so thin near the cuticle, that you can grow the nail out too without needing fills. Yes, this is my hubby's account. I am a female, lol.
Wanted to add that I did this in about the same amount of time as the video, pausing about three times to complete the steps. If you take your time, the results are FABULOUS! Thx again.
When I first started doing acrylic nails 10 years or more ago, I often wondered why they didn't have a system such as this. Watching your video is actually the first time I seen it applied from start to finish. Wonderful video and product! Thank you for sharing :)
Perfect! I just did this and I have a new nail which looks surprisingly natural. Almost like it better than my real nails. I followed along with the video and your instructions are very clear and concise. Thanks so much, this is EXACTLY what I was looking for as an alternative to tips. Brava!
Thank you so much for posting this video! I love ASP lightless gel and use it all the time when I have a crack on my natural long nails. I have tried this method and it works great replacing a broken nail that I recently had. You couldn't even tell that I had a broken nail by using your method in your video. Thank you so much and keep posting the great videos!
I recently broke off the entire tip of my natural nail -- along with my my complete gel manicure. Normally I would use some nail silk to reattach the tip, but it flew across the room and I haven't found it yet! I had some cheap nail wrap that had too much "body" to wrap my nails well and I was able to use it with some structure gel to recreate the end of my nail, and it matches beautifully with my other manicured natural nails. Very nice! A life saver (from a purely fingernail perspective ;)
WOW Anna you are so full of knowledge and new inventions.I am definitely going to be doing this it looks so much better than tips and more natural .I'm in awe at how amazing your creativity and ingenuity is.Keep going please don't ever stop what you do I will follow you forever .
This is my Hubby acc, but I need to say that "I Loved this way to make my Nails much better" I gonna try to find the products and make it for myself!!!! Thank you so Much and still giving to us this kind of videos!!!! You're Amazing!!!! God Bless You!!! =)
I did this yesterday on 2 of my nails I wanted to even out the length with my other nails. OMG!!! worked like a charm and so easy to do. Thanks for sharing.
This is a great vid. I just tried your technique, and it came out perfect. I did this over my natural nail, of which 2 was broken. Thanks so much for this information.
Thank you so much for this! Now I must go see if I can find these products. No matter what I do mine break when they get to a certain length. I've tried all the repair tips out there. This is a great way to get the length without having to go to the salon!
That is really good for when you break a nail and you don't want to cut them all short but at the same time you don't want to walk around with one short nail and the rest long. Thanks for the tutorial =] xx
Amazing! I'm hooked on your videos! I can't believe how easy you make them look. I'm having a hard time but I'm hanging in there and will continue to try! Thank you!
Finally something that I'm not allergic to. After calling all over the place to find a salon that would do silk wrap i said F it! and looked this up and did it myself. Lol love telling people i do my own nails :)
Thank you sooo much for this!! Firstly this product is amazing. The first time i saw i was completely astounded. i have been looking forever for a way to mend my natural nails. i also took your advice about switching to a strengthener for my nails. my nail was broken and sadly a piece flaked off. so i had a nail with left to the midway right missing, then the rest of the nail was there. i used this method and it worked great!! you cant even tell. thanks again.
Thank you so much for this tip. I watched a couple weeks ago and today I visited my Sally's Beauty Salon and picked up my set of nail essentials and will give it a try. Tfs hugs Letty
My nails have been growing out and snapping off. Two down to the quick. I found your vid, and followed your instructions. Awesome. I am not great at buffing and smoothing, but I am getting the hang of it. I found on my "quick" nails, your powder method was perfect. (Redid those 3 times before connecting that dot-HA!). The powder gives the structure needed to hold up. Thanks so much!
Last time I did this method I ended up using a lot of silk for the the nail extension to feel harder, now I just apply a thick gel resin over my growing nail, much easy for me. Thank you for showing how this is done, gives a helpful idea!
Ooh this looks great! I hate getting acrylic nails done because they file my nails so much and they look horrible after the fake nails grow out. Loving this!
This is an excellent tutorial. Very detailed and you explained every step so clearly. Your finished nails looks amazing...so natural! Definitely going to try this out. Thank you!
I've just watched a series on silk wrap i just might try this one it's something like i want thank you i hope it works cause im having a very hard time growing them plus im taking vitamins too god bless u hun
Thank you so much for this! I am trying to grow my nails long and if I break a nail it is good to know that I won't have to cut all my nails off to keep the symmetry! GREATLY APPRECIATED
Hello ! I'm totally new to these nail trends, so when I broke 2 nails last week I went to look for some tutorials, because I didn't want to cut all the other nails down (which are quite long !). Your tuto helped me out a lot ! I fabricated 2 new nails very well for a first time ! But it's quite difficult to shape the silk wrap, and it becomes translucent ; and the and the silk bandage that I also tried doesn't get translucent at all. Great video, thanks !
I accidentally stumbled across this video and am so glad I did! My nails grown out long and then just snap off! So they're either really long or really short. I guess I should use some oil on them or something. I've been thinking about getting acrylic nails but this looks so cool I am definitely going to try it!
I loved this and I'm totally going to try it on myself. I personally don't like acrylic nails because they are way too thick. This looks way better. Thanks SO much for this video!!
I love it ,it looks real natural and I assume that it doesn't damage your nail as much as the acrylic ... Thanks for sharing thirty product and explain with detail how is suppose to get done ... Thanks n God Bless you ,have a wonderful night :-)
Great video! I used this product years ago and I saw with your demonstration video all the things I was doing wrong. I will purchase this product again and follow your instructions. Sally's use to carry this product, but if you can not find it at Sally's you can try eBay or amazon.
I have to get me some no lift primer and ASP gel resin. I used to wear silk wrap for many, many yrs, then went to gel manicures. I wear my nails natural now and went back to doing them myself. Every now and then I have to fix a broken nail. Thks for the tips. I will mark this on my favorites.
Thanks for this video, I think I will go this way instead of tips or acrylic. I will try this out soon. your nail look natural and great.....thxs again.
OMG, you're a genuis! This caught my eye, even though I don't need this, but I thought it looked really cool, so I clicked on this! I'm really glad I did! Someday if I need to, I WILL use this! :D
Beautiful! I always wondered how to use silk wrap! I bought some a while ago, looked at it recently & almost threw it away! I found ur video by accident because I was looking for something to put on top of my nails to keep them from cracking because they are hard when they grow out. And they grow backwards & not down. Thanks so much!
Hi Anna, thank you so much sharing...2 weeks ago I stumbled across your video showing how to mend a nail with the lightless gel kit which I bought 2 wks ago in Sallys. Off to purchase the other items you showed in this video and will be using this method instead of false nails which I was about to purchase 500 today..I may still do, who knows ;-)
jesus you really went in on the filing, and when you were tapping it with your other nail, i was cringing just waiting for something to peel or ping off but nope! solid as a rock!! really nice idea, must give this ago, they look so sturdy!! :D
Does this make one's thin and weak nails stronger? I am trying to find a product to harden my nails which are very thing and the nails peel off very easy as if you were peeling the cover of an onion. The reason for my interest in this is because I want to use my nails on the right hand only to play classical guitar style. Thanks.
I attempted to do this today and I failed so bad. Kudos to you for having this mastered and making it look so easy. I'm having to let my cuticle heal on my thumb for ripping off some glue. lol
hi anna i was wondering i am using silk nail patches with lightless gel on my breaks. I been experiencing a downward curve to my nails. I also experience lifting i have to change them once or twice a week. Is there something i am doing wrong ? Thank you if you get this i would really appreciate it.
I think this is great for watching and doing as you go along. I really love this video. I got all of my supplies from sally's.... Big mistake. Lol too expensive but I hope it's worth the money. Thanks again
Loved the video, I worked with acrylic, plus the odor of the liquid is very strong, and end up weak nails. So I thought I'd use this project, how much longer this lasts nail? and how do i remove the product without damaging your nails? Abraços
Really loved your video and it was very easy to follow. I was wondering....It looks like you use ASP resin. Did it come with the nail brush? I'm not finding it that way.
so helpful and you are a wonderful, organized instructor; my problem is i bought at sallies the lightless gel and both times i could hardly get it out of the bottle, it seemed all dried up; i returned it and the second bottle the same; so maybe old; today i am going to a different sallies and try again; however it still came out great, just cannot get any more gel out of the bottle so obviously something is wrong. I did store upright and cap tight.
this turned out perfect although sallys was out of the right no lift , what I substituted for is lasting. My only problem is I bought some one step no chip polish (gelaze) and it wont stick to my nail! i tried a regular polish and the same thing! I am going to try roughing up the nail now and see if that helps otherwise this is a great tutorial and it works amazingly! finally my nails are all the same length and no more going to salon and having them destroyed. Love love love this idea! now if I could just get my salon to do this!
I suddenly, after 10+ years of using acrylic, became allergic to acrylates almost overnight. It looks like dermatitis. Little blisters, broken skin, itchy, embarrassing & gross. This is such a lifesaver. Not 1 nail tech in 10+ years ever told me about silk wraps. A true God send. Thanks a bunch!
I have troubles with the same skin issue. If I spray the gel cure, my hands break out so bad. I'm currently trying to grow my natural nails, but it looks like there may be a lot of patching needed to keep them up. I guess its short nails or itchy rash... :'(
It sounds like you have eczema on your hands. 2 years ago out of nowhere I had itchy little blisters on my fingers & toes, come to find out it was eczema.
A little over a week ago, I had a finger nail that I was going to patch, but it chipped out before I could, so had to trim it all :( I bought an acrylic kit and sculpted an overlay, but I have near 0 skill and wound up doing much filing to make it passable. Found this video, did it last night, and it worked! I couldn't find silks, so I used two layers of fiberglass, each with IBD brush on. Probably could've used a 3rd layer. It ski-jumped slightly, but you can't tell if you don't look closely.
The nails look really natural, Excellent tutorial. I can't imagine spemding this much time on nails, personally, but they look great. My only suggestion would be to take more time with your polish because it's messy at the cuticle area and on the sides. Needs touching/cleaning up.
msmeg you can have long nails using garlic, and olive oil. I started 3 weeks ago and my nails that never grew have grown a half inch. Heathly nails is far better then fake.
Love your vidoes. So glad I found you. Just a couple of questions if you don't mind. You use the gle brush to even out the gel, how do you keep from getting gel in the glue? Also how do you remove the extension? Does it soak off? This is a grat way to extend the nail without tips. I have a few clients that I have a very hard time getting tips to fit. This also would be great on nail biters :)). After you have made the tip you can put any design you want on it. I like useing gel paints.
Thanks Anna this video was very helpful! ^_^ Glad you mentioned the primer! i just bought the primer and the dehydrator last week just for this purpose! cause the last time i cracked a nail i used the LG and had the lifting problem, so figured if it worked for acrylics and gels, why not the LG...then after i bought it thought to myself should of asked Anna first before i bought these LOL *Shew* so glad you did this vid :D (now i don't feel like i wasted my money ^_^)
I followed her instructions verbatim and LOVE my nails!!! I got tired of spending a ton of money to get my nails done at a salon just for the techs to do a sloppy job. MULTIPLE techs... I loved this and I'm totally going to try it on myself. I personally don't like acrylic nails because they are way too thick. This looks way better. Thanks SO much for this video!!
Thanks for the video. I didn't think I'd be brave enough to try the lightless gel, but I'm going to try it. thanks again.
I love your videos! You always make things look so easy. Great ideas!!!
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS...I AM LEARNING SO MUCH FROM THEM....YOU ARE AMAZING....THANKS FOR SHARING......
My first time seeing this! I prefer this over false nails which i can never keep on for a day! Thanks very helpful! :)

Thank You I loved how easy it actually is.... STAY BLESSED n BEAUTIFUL.....
I found it at Sally's in California a month ago.
Holy moly! Thank you so much for this!! I just did this on one problem nail, and am blown away already! :)
Omg!! love it!! thanks.. First time trying was hard but after a few tries, i got it!!
Thanks for this video, I think I will go this way instead of tips or acrylic. I will try this out soon. your nail look natural and great.....thxs again.

This is what I want. Another simple method to strengthen nail without tips or acrylic. Thank you.
jesus you really went in on the filing, and when you were tapping it with your other nail, i was cringing just waiting for something to peel or ping off but nope! solid as a rock!! really nice idea, must give this ago, they look so sturdy!! :D
Does this make one's thin and weak nails stronger? I am trying to find a product to harden my nails which are very thing and the nails peel off very easy as if you were peeling the cover of an onion. The reason for my interest in this is because I want to use my nails on the right hand only to play classical guitar style. Thanks.
awesome, I am going to try this out. Thank you for the info...look forward to other tutorial videos from you..
Fantastic tutorial. You make it look so easy.
bought my silk wrap and resin so will be trying this soon. love the results. thanks for the info
This is a really good idea! I think the gel would be easier than using tips w/acrylic powder, which I always apply unevenly!
I enjoyed this very much! Excellent tutorial!! I have prior experience with nails, and really found this useful to learn by.
Thank you for this.. i do prefer a natural nail. Beautiful work!
Thank you Anna!!! I am not going to wear fake nails again after seeing this video . Love it!!!
I think this is great for watching and doing as you go along. I really love this video. I got all of my supplies from sally's.... Big mistake. Lol too expensive but I hope it's worth the money.
Thanks again
Wow seems like a lot of work but the out come of it is great i luv it
Loved the video, I worked with acrylic, plus the odor of the liquid is very strong, and end up weak nails. So I thought I'd use this project, how much longer this lasts nail? and how do i remove the product without damaging your nails? Abraços
I just learned how to do fiberglass in beauty school, and this seems SO MUCH better and easier!
Wow! Looks great!
I've never seen such thing! It looks great!
Thanks for sharing this ;)
This will help me so much. I break my nails all of the time, and just end up giving up on them. Thanks for this video it's helped me.
great result!!!!! loved it! thanks!!!
Really loved your video and it was very easy to follow. I was wondering....It looks like you use ASP resin. Did it come with the nail brush? I'm not finding it that way.
love the way your nails look n like the wasy you explained thanx
amazing product and nice work
You are so amazing, thank you for posting this video. Great, really great
Very nice video! Very detailed and thorough :)
so helpful and you are a wonderful, organized instructor; my problem is i bought at sallies the lightless gel and both times i could hardly get it out of the bottle, it seemed all dried up; i returned it and the second bottle the same; so maybe old; today i am going to a different sallies and try again; however it still came out great, just cannot get any more gel out of the bottle so obviously something is wrong. I did store upright and cap tight.
...And also do you have to use the same brands to get the same results. Like if I find a cheaper brand for everything will it work just as well?
excellent video .I love learning from you. Awesome. Mercedes
great love this i am going to purchase these products my nails are short and paper thin ill let you know how it goes
Thanks for this. It's very useful! You have a very soothing voice too haha
This Looks So Good 😍 , I Need To Try This .. Does It Need To Be Done In A Ventilated Area ??
this turned out perfect although sallys was out of the right no lift , what I substituted for is lasting. My only problem is I bought some one step no chip polish (gelaze) and it wont stick to my nail! i tried a regular polish and the same thing!
Just bought all the supplies. I'm about to attempt this! I'm so excited! :D
Needs touching/cleaning up.
msmeg and a more flattering color that doesn't show mistakes so much
Really. That's what cleanup brushes are for.. all nail artists use them. A lot.
Iman Amin she says right in the video why she used white..
Wow. Just... wow.

msmeg you can have long nails using garlic, and olive oil.
I started 3 weeks ago and my nails that never grew have grown a half inch.
Heathly nails is far better then fake.
Thank you for the tutorial. So informative!
very cool. never knew silk was so versatile!
my eyes got so big lol!! this is amazing!
Amazing idea. You're a genius.
You have pretty natural nails.
I thank you for your videos for they are very helpful.
I just created my first one Lady with success! Thank you! xoxo!
+Brenda Keitt congrats i'm glad it worked for you
Thanks Anna this video was very helpful!
