I don't think they consider engagement a win when they've spent hundreds of millions of dollars on a series, and the extent of the engagement is to dislike the trailer on UA-cam instead of buying a Disney+ subscription to watch the whole series.

You have really bad takes. They’re talking about how people don’t like something and your argument is that dislike engagement is stupid? It’s indicative of how a majority of hardcore fans feel. You say hating on something is stupid and you’re just hating on people disliking something. It doesn’t make sense.
If youre going to come in and criticize my takes then at least understand what youre talking about. I am not saying that the like dislike system is stupid. I am saying that it doesnt matter. They are, just like many people in this space, using it as a metric for definitive taste of the content. This chronically online behavior of thinking a ratio means anything is reductive and wrong.
@@airrickdebunks It matters greatly because it helps represent (and inform) the mass opinion on a given subject.
Disney very much relies on these numbers for their own predictive capabilities with regard to how their shows do.
UA-cam, particularly, relies on these numbers for their own algorithmic decision-making (and yes, they DO suppress videos that get dislikes even if you believe ad revenue is unaffected).
There is a reason why UA-cam removed the visible dislike counter for most users.
@@snoxeriUnless they don't like the outcome. If the numbers were good the same people using the like system options now would disown it. Just like they do with Rotten Tomatoes or IMDB critic scores. All that matters is the narrative.

I think it is similarly all about the narrative for Rotten Tomatoes (can't say anything definitive about IMDB, although probably true for them as well). The narrative matters. That is, again, why the likes and dislikes matter. And in the case of Rotten Tomatoes at least, they have been shown (perhaps you might disagree) to fiddle with the numbers of some pieces in order to shape the narrative you describe.
As a channel who's like to dislike ratio is normally 50/50 I see why you would think it doesn't matter but it does show what the general public thinks.

I just love these channels that say its an agenda and that they wont watch it have thumbnails that say things like the scissor sithsters. But they don't want to be called homophobic. As a gay person i find it very homophobic that you wont give something a chance because it has a gay person in it thats the definition of being homophobic.
My favorite is when these would say it’s an agenda when they called out supporting something like slavery.
Hey great video, I just wanna start by pointing out the clear amount of effort and time you took to share your opinion and it shows in the quality and presentation and as a viewer that is appreciated, I would like to share 2 opinions I had while watching and hopefully it doesn’t come off as an attack in anyway but I do disagree to an extent.
I think to an extent you are correct, engagement creates engagement even if it’s negative. Kinda like the idea that all press is good press and for the concept of marketing and spreading the word of a series you are absolutely correct, however your delivery makes it seem like you are undermining the value of customer feedback and how it affects sales. I always read Amazon reviews before making a purchase on a product to get an idea of what other people who are also interested in that product have experienced with it. And I do the same thing for movies and UA-cam content or really anything I consume and I think it’s important to take feedback seriously and respond to the market feedback to be able to sell a product. Feedback does matter but it won’t stop the release of the show.
As far as the specifics of what they talk about, I have actually never heard of these guys until you brought them up today and this is the first time I’ve heard of you but I’m trying to expand my understanding of both sides to this argument and I would be very interested in seeing you talk about creators like Star Wars theory, WDW pro, and even Mike Xero just don’t point out Mike Xeros click bait. We all know he click baits and it sucks but he still has some good points that are worth discussing (occasionally, he also has bad takes just as often) but I would love to see you break down the opinions that aren’t just obviously sexist and gross in their own right. I myself and a lot of other people aren’t upset that women and minorities are being given a spotlight, it is undeniable that straight white males get portrayed more than any other gender, race, or ideology. And I want to live in a world where everyone is equal and treated equally and fairly. To that end however, attempting to completely exclude straight white males does not create an environment of inclusion it creates an environment that says everyone is allowed except for straight white males. Which is the opposite of equality itself just reversing the racism and sexism which makes some people feel validated but it does not solve the core of the issue. We can have strong female, transgender, minorities in strong positions in movies but we don’t have to tear down and destroy pre existing characters because they don’t fit the new mold. I think it’s also important to understand that Star Wars was originally created for young boys, it was intended for a mainly male audience and that’s not to say that women and grown men can’t enjoy it too but if you change the target demographic there will inevitably be a fall off of viewership and positive feedback. Yes the smallest portion of the audience is upset because there’s a women of color as the main character but the majority of us are upset because what was originally created for the sole purpose of telling a good story has been hijacked and taken over to send a message that women are powerful too. And yeah that conversation does need to happen more in our day to day but I watch and consume content and products to have a good time and to escape the reality for even just a moment. I don’t want the shitty reality thrown in my face all the time, especially when I don’t hold the beliefs that are being fought and there’s really only a small few people who hold those beliefs so why do we have to hijack our means of entertainment and turn it into a political movement?
excellent points but much like his adversaries neither group actual goes pass the their bad because they don't agree part of these debates. In arrick view if you don't like something its because your phobic of some nature while the nerdrotic side says your too woke if you enjoy something.

I appreciate the work you’re doing countering the anti fandom content. I used to be subscribed to Eric and the fandom doofuses but the constant whining everytime something new was coming out burnt me out.
The Acolyte trailer got me hyped since I love action. It would be crazy to me that they are saying it looked so bad if I wasn’t familiar with them and how they operate.
They had three trilogies where white people were the main characters and villains. Now they are upset they couldn’t spot a white man in a tv show trailer.
