The sith are considered dead at this point. Most of the jedi likely naively or arrogantly believe either someone wouldn’t want to because they are peace keeping monks or because they believe no one could. Anakin thinks in Phantom Menace that no one could kill a Jedi because they were seen as invincible heroes to some and he goes and helps drive them to near extinction.
How many times do we have to keep seeing the Republic fall? Especially since in this timeline the Sith were supposed to be gone for millenia. So I guess they weren't really gone? This means the Jedi are completely incompetent and stupid.
The Sith were hiding for a thousand years so in order to not contradict that statement, the Jedi who have find out or encountered a Sith have to die.

@@FireflyFalafel What do you mean? The series is literally full of Jedi doing Jedi things. Obi-Wan defeating Vader, Luke helping to rescue Han, Luke defeating/saving Vader, Vader defeating the Emperor, Rey beating Kylo, Luke tricking Kylo to defend/save the Resistance is like the most Jedi thing I can think of, Rey healing Kylo/Ben, Ben going to help Rey, Rey defeating Palpatine, Grogu being saved by Kelleran Beq, Kanan sacrificing himself to save the Rebels crew, Ezra sacrificing himself to save Lothal, Ezra helping the Noti survive, Yoda seeing the Clones as individuals in Ep1 of TCW, I mean there are too many times to count in The Clone Wars, the list goes on and on and on.
5:29 in regard to world not changing so much. I had a conversation with my brother about Avatar the last airbender and The legend of Korra, assuming theres been over 100 Avatars from the very first Avatar Wan all the way to Aang's time the architecture and fashion of the world didn't differ all that much. There wasn't a huge change until Korra's time, the industrial age. My brother compared it to all the high rise buildings of New York. I asked him why is that? Why did we go from stone houses to wooden house to all of a sudden steel buildings? He told me it was because the discovery of steel.
Thats when a lightbulb lit up for me, it was because Toph discovered metal bending. The rise of metal bending meant the rise of uses for metal, buildings, cars, ships, clothing and jewellry. One would argue, didn't the fire nation implement metal in their ships, blimps, tanks, armour and buildings prior to this? Another lightbulb lit up for me, what would you need to manipulate metal? It was because of fire bending that they discovered how to manipulate metal by forging it.
So in terms of Star Wars, unless the big shipping yards constructed new spaceships, architecture and fashion might remain the same for 100 years. The Jedis specifically dont believe in attachments and possessions apart from their clothing and lightsabres.

It feels like Andor to me. I may be wrong, because there are a few youngsters in the cast. But I think it has potential to be dark as Andor.
By the way, cameos: Yoda is 900 years old in the original trilogy, so, 800 years old in this? Probably the only possible cameo, maybe together with Yadle.
Seeing the cast on Wikipedia, there's also the X-29 girl in this. And Carrie-Ann M.'s character is called Indira, Jedi Master Indira.

Considering I LOVE Andor, an "Andor with Jedi" sounds excellent to me. I can't stop watching the trailer, I'm super pumped.
There is a lot of theories about Darth Plagueis appearing. Since we've only heard about him in live action stuff, I don't know if that counts as a cameo though.
I didn't get any sensations of Andor but I hope I'm wrong. To call my feelings lukewarm would be an overstatement.

I my opinion, a good ACOLYTE would have been Plagueis training Palpatine
I don't have high hopes. Being that it is only Canon that Darth Bane started the Rule of Two, and that Plagueis was Palpatine's Master, it will be interesting to see what the Acolyte focuses on. Are they the Sith, or as Plagueis would consider them as some dark side assassins.
Also, while you may not know the canon or legends comics and novels, you both are great critics.
This is gonna be so bad. Family friendly Disney hired former personal assistant of Harvey Weinstein to be showrunner of this show.
Hearing this I hope they do have great action and a strong story a good blend of the original and action from the prequel series cause we just haven't seen that duel of the fate action stuff has been close but just not there yet.

They really need to go further back, Yoda is still well established and knows all about things and this is probably when he now realizes the Sith are returning...Further back before Yoda even existed and the Sith were the dominate "force" would have been a better choice imoo. Back when Star Wars the Old Republic game takes place. Back then there were the Old style "electric" swords and Lightsabers were just becoming a thing...Big deal on the red lightsaber, as those were never lost, just those that could create them. Back when I played SWTOR mmo game, I enjoyed the lore MUCH more then the current movies because it was history of that era I was learning. Now I am not sure if this can be a Rogue One thing and does not look anything near Andor.

An argument can be made that after you pretty much peak in terms of technology a 100 or more is pretty much nothing. Like they discovered hyper space how can you progress after that.
If in the prequel the jedi said the "Sith have been dead for over a millenia." How are their sith in a show set only 100 years before the prequels?

The director has described the show as a mix of Frozen and Kill Bill. She also stated that her main goal for the show was to increase gay diversity. Go in with extremely low expectations for this one as the story was apparently an afterthought for the director and she mainly wants to be woke.
"Not about good and evil" is a pretty good sign that the director doesn't know what makes Star Wars, Star Wars.

It's in the past but not as far back as the old republic but maybe they will explore the old republic if this succeeds

@@laffingist218 I think if they actually stop listening to Kathleen and make live action films during the Old Republic with Revan, Malgus, Nihilus and Vitiate it would become more iconic than the prequels and OG trilogy especially with the right directors and fighting choreography leaning more towards Kung fu and Shinobu arts, the dark gritty feel that Man Of Steel had with Hans Zimmer in charge of the music, omg we're talking surpassing Avatar levels .

Comparing fashion evolution in our world to a world where they travel across a galaxy and have creatures thousands of years old is a little weird lol
100 years? barely 2 generations prior to the Skywalker saga and yet in Ep1 they're all surprised the Sith exist, as if they thought were extinct for longer than 100 years. Then again in Ep 4 both Han and Tarkin speak of the force as some ancient magic that has been gone for centuries when it was barely a couple decades after the events of Ep 3.
The music was cool, I like that it's not Skywalker era, choreography is decent, better than previous iterations.

When the female assasin used a knife and was rebuffed, it felt more like a martial arts movie than Star Wars to me. Now I like and enjoy martial arts movies, but my point is that I didn't get the Star Wars vibe, despite lightsabers and Jedi knights coming on strong later in the trailer. I also reacted to the expression of the man being interrogated, that said he saw "darkness." For some reason it seemed fake and corny to me. Usually trailers hype me up in an unreasonable way, so maybe its a good thing to be dissapointed and feel that the trailer is generic. I hope I'm wrong about this series, because I've been wanting Star Wars stories set in the past or future (separated from the Skywalkers) for a while.

Hmm... I'm cautiously optimistic that this can be fun. I agree with some other comments that the vibe feels more like Obi Wan (when that show tried to be serious and grounded) especially because it feels like this will use the volume a lot rather then epic use of location shooting in Andor (which is my absolute favorite Star Wars creation of both tv and movies).
But for good and bad this trailer didn't really tell me anything so I'm curious to watch this series and see where they take it.
Oh, and I agree that it's great to have new characters, but I do feel that they must have Yoda pop in for some wisdom, I mean he must be part of the council during this time so it would be super weird if they didn't include him in some way. And big yes to flowery kung fu light saber jedi fighting 😁 that would be a nice contrast to the gritty realism of Andor. Again, for me Andor is the best star wars content ever, but I would love for Star Wars to make more bold choices in style and ways to tell stories. And wushu wire work jedi action sounds super fun 😊

I do like that it's set during the High Republic, we've been waiting for something like that for, what? Over four decades?
We will see when it comes out if it's any good, I refuse to get enthusiastic about it just to have my hopes dashed.
Andor while being very good has ruined star wars for some people.
So when is the apprehension going to be over? after the praises for andor and Asoka series maybe stop judging everything on the worst of the star wars projects and judge them individually. Years ago people complained that rogue one was to dark for a star wars thing and now through revisionist history they're praising it and wondering why shows can't be like that and andor. I for one am not goito be so judgemental about a teaser.

4:56 This story takes place during the end of the High Republic, about 100 years before the Phantom Menace. Why would the Jedi Temple or Jedi look different? Didn't you react to the Knights of the Old Republic trailers? That story is set way before this story! While that game isn't canon, its setting, aliens, vehicles, etc. certainly are. Coruscant is the city-planet set at the center of the galaxy. It's the New York of Star Wars; everyone wants to go there and live like the giants that dominate it.
Jedi are traditionalists, they don't like change as the prequels showed. Their inability to change blinded them and eventually wiped them out. The Jedi/Force was advertised as a "hokey religion" in the original trilogy, right? How often do religions and their practices change? Of those that do change, does that change happen quickly or drastically?
Personally, I think this trailer wouldn't have worked if it didn't look the way it does. More importantly, if the setting, places, characters, vehicles, fashions, etc. are what make Star Wars Star Wars! If you throw everything away and try to build it up from scratch you get a Rian Johnson problem that no one asked for. Don't reinvent the wheel, use it again and again and again. Add to the mythos, don't erase it. The past can't also have something present stories don't currently have, so using many things we all know and love is nothing but a win for the franchise.
Feels a little too "marvelesk" for my taste a lot of superhero stances and/or poses :S
