Great job again Tim and John. It’s a shame this album never got a push. Excellent album with lots of songs that should have been all over the radio. Looking forward to the next episode. Thank you . Chez

Another Y&T album like IRWT that has really risen up on my Y&T album rankings. As you mentioned many times in the show the musicianship and production on this album is top notch. My stand out tracks on the album are 10 Lovers, City, Surrender, Hard Times, and many others. I remember seeing Y&T in a club in Oakland in 1988. They debut 2 or 3 new songs. At the end of the show they asked us to fill out reviews of the new songs. The only song I remember what it was was Surrender. I remember raving about that song and writing that it had single potential. When 10 came out a few years later and I saw the track listing, I remembered that song even though I had only heard it once. That was how much that song stuck with me.

Love this album! Surprised you didn't mention the the use of the toggle switch by Dave to open Hard Times. One of the last times I saw them live they opened the show with Hard Times the right into Lucy. Amazing!

Great review! Finally some love for TEN! It's in my top 3 Y&T albums behind only In Rock We Trust and Earthshaker. Keep preaching the gospel of Y&T Tim!

I think you may be onto something Tim. This album may well have just passed the rest of my ranking. I listened to it today for this episode and it really is much better than the early albums and it has gotten my favs, In Rock We Trust and Down For the Count, on the ropes! I wish they'd have released this album when they did Contagious. I came in on Contagious and wasn't really into them. Your series has me listening to all the albums and I have found some great stuff in this period of the band. Early on in the discography Dave's vocals were weaker and I couldn't get past that but, they really got their act together from '84-'90! I can't wait to see how the next three albums hold up against this one.

As always another great show and discussion! such a fantastic series on a great unsung band!
Like I stated in the previous episode I jumped off with Y&T after Down For The Count as I was getting into much heavier music and Radio
and MTV didn't give Y&T any interest and they just fell off my radar and I didn't get interested in them again until the 2000's when the guitarist
in my band at the time gave me a box of cassettes he didn't want anymore and TEN and Contagious were among them. So I gave them a
listen and I liked TEN a lot more than Contagious lol! TEN is a really good album. Hard Times is a hard rocking opener and was I was glad
to hear them getting back to their hard rock roots, and Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark is a fantastic power ballad as is Come In From The Rain.
I absolutely love Ten Lovers! definitely a favorite track along with closers Goin' Off The Deep End and Surrender. I regret not getting this when
it was released but it did reignite my interest in the band and made me search out the next two records which I didn't get when they were
originally released and we will be discussing soon! I really like this album and I am surprised that this doesn't rank higher but I give it a 7/10

My current ranking of studio albums after watching your series to date and listening to the albums with fresh ears, removed from my biases and narratives as they were released:
    1) Endangered Species (hard to choose between ES and MI…both are great all around. Great production, song writing, performance, and their best lyrics by far too date. Also they are at their peak as a band talent and skill and experience wise. Because they are independently released albums while on hiatus the band has the ultimate creative control. They have zero pressure from a record label and no audience capture/fan pressure or internal pressure to break big or write a hit)
    2) Musically Incorrect (see above)
    3) Earthshaker (besides being my introduction to rock music and Y&T it has 3 of my all time favorite live songs from any band: I Believe In You, Dirty Girl, and Rescue Me. And 2 more that are 2 of my favorite Y&T songs live: and 2 of the best hi tempo hard rockers Hurricane and Squeeze
    4) Mean Streak (2 more all timers in Mean Streak and Midnight in Tokyo. Also the album is very coherent and a great blend of power and melody ie; Take You to the Limit, Straight Thru the Heart, Hang Em High)
    5) Ten (hard to choose between Ten and In Rock We Trust …both great for different reasons.)
    6) In Rock We Trust
    7) Black Tiger
Hard to rank the following except to say Down For The Count is last place.)
    8) Contagious
    9) Struck Down (would be significantly higher if not for the horrible production and engineering)
    10) Facemelter
    11) Yesterday and Today
    12) Down for the Count
