Seriously impressive how they managed to line up the camera so well, that must have taken either some insane planning (to get the height right and use the right lenses) or some absurd luck.
Being one of the game devs and animators on this game this video is sooooo awesome to watch. It was cool to watch you visit all of those locations in real life and to see your excitement along the way. Great stuff !!

I never thought the entire map was inspired by real locations, I thought they just created it on their own. The amount of work and raw detail that went into this game is absolutely astonishing.
Saint Denis was the first big giveaway as it was modeled on New Orleans. When I entered first time into Lemoyne, I could tell straightaway that it was Louisiana
It's arguably way easier to just take real life examples then to make everything up yourself. The true skill is making it all work in a cohesive game world. Monumental effort nonetheless of course.
This was so fun! I can definitely relate to how you were amazed to find the exact things you experienced in the game in real life. It's a worthy adventure 😍
This is TV show quality content man, well done. Came for the real life versions of the game's locations & stayed for the professionally done editing, camerawork and hosting job. Keep it up boss, I happily subscribed!
there were points in this where I literally could hardly tel when it jumped between gameplay and real footage... this game is INSANE. never fails to keep amazing me all these years later ! Great video this must have been such an amazing trip
This is totally a Rockstar thing. They did this for GTA V as well, basically remodeling LA and California into San Andreas/Los Santos Rockstar takes so much time working on their environments its actually amazing. Wonderful work lining everything up to the real world counter parts. Hope yall are well!
Red Dead supernerd here and this is mind blowing. I'm an Aussie so had no idea it was exactly like landscapes and cities in the US. Thanks for your tour.

One of the most coolest things i've loved about RDR2 is that we can take photos in the game. Its like you are a photographer who loves to travel but you got a broken leg and is stuck at home. Then theres RDR2 with exact replicas of the real world , it made me so happy .
@9:31 I legit thought the "real" was just a realistic reshade mod of the game. So gorgeous out there. Went fishing in a small lake at the base of the Gran Tetons when I was about 13. One of my favorite memories.
Really happy youre making this video! I've driven across the US several times and spent lots of time around Grand Teton, Yellowstone and the Great plains. Playing RDR2 was incredible since I was literally recognizing so many landmarks I had already seen in real life.
As a guy from the East Coast of the US. I have never been to any of these states. Thanks for sharing. I know I can go see most of these in RDR 2 . But seeing it IRL shows how awesome the developers are that work for Rockstar. I can't wait for GTA 6. You had some awesome horses 🐴🐎🐎🐴 😂😂😂
Sometimes, I failed to distinguish between reality and RDR2, when the camera transition was so fluid(in first person mode). Truly RDR2 is the best game of all time.
Seeing the real life houses compared to the ones in Saint Denis so cool! As much as the environments are beautiful and the game mimics them very well, it’s attention to detail on architecture that really shows how dedicated the developers were to making RDR2 feel real. I mean, how many people would even think of putting a corn fence in a game unless you saw it in reality?? There is one area of this video where the game got it right and reality “didn’t”, though. If you ride horses all the time, like Arthur and the rest of the gang do, you’ll get used to it and it won’t bother you at all. You’ll also be using a saddle that fits you (because it’s mad uncomfortable otherwise even if you ride often), and you’ll have enough experience to find your “seat” right away so you don’t have to fidget to get comfortable. Of course, if you rode at a full gallop all the time like Arthur does (or like we make Arthur do) you’d have sore legs often. But also muscles of steel because it takes a lot of strength and is a serious workout to do that, especially often. Just another reason why Arthur Morgan is an absolute badass 😂
One thing that always impressed me with RDR2 (and GTA for that matter) was how ‘small’ areas could be made to feel so big. Saint Denis really isn’t a big city when you think about it, 4 blocks wide maybe?, yet feels like a big city with distinct districts. RDR2 really was a masterpiece in terms of map design.
Yeah, it’s amazing how you can travel from one side of the map to another in about 15 minutes yet it feels huge at the same time cause of the valleys and mountains
How awesome to spot all those places and super transitions between game and real. I didn’t know these abandoned houses still exists. Imagine the hard life those people had. You should arrange guided trips to these places.

i cant imagine the fact they made a country about red dead
It's incredible how the virtual graphics are so well done, that it looks like the real thing but with filters and an atmosphere from the 1840s.
