Still meh he’s not a hall of famer at this time and first overall have to be a hall of famer to live up to the 1 pick
@@danielsowell858 Stafford had some amazing seasons that were completely wasted because of terrible coaching and some just terrible defenses. If the Lions franchise wants such a joke he’d probably have a ring. He’ll finally get that in LA tho.

Your argument for stafford being a meh was his record but cmon he’s on the lions it’s hard to win consistently on the lions
Ya but the quterback has alot to do with winning my guy u could argue that for couple years but it's been 10
@@katelynnpolk473 They have never truly given him talent he has put the team on his back for years, the same arguments should be applied to Barry Sanders and Calvin Johnson if W/L is your only indicator. The lions only win because he's under center and thats facts. (As a bears fan)
@@sportgamer3255 you realize the one name you gave, Calvin Johnson, played with Stafford for a number of years. That means he had at least one of the most skilled athletic freaks at WR in NFL history. And he still couldn't win past a first round playoff. They brought him reggie bush, attempted to draft talent like Pettigrew and Ebron. Also drafted Jahvid Best. Ebron was mediocre at best until he went to the colts and Andrew Luck, where he actually showed he could be productive with a good qb. He's also had pretty solid defenses for 4-5 of those years. So you can't use Stafford has no talent as an excuse. Sorry, I like stafford, but no he needs to own up to that record just like any other qb would have to.
Hard to win on the lions at all*
ehhh Stafford might not be an elite QB but he is a solid franchise starting QB I would say that makes him more of a hit than meh
Damn this draft sucks 😂😂😂
MrMadeye2020 YUP
Nah this was an ok class. The top 10 was just not great. 9 Pro bowlers in the back end of the 1st round. About 20 really good players didn't even get drafted that year including Arian Foster & Michael Bennett. Bad year for scouts
MrMadeye2020 ikr
yeah but eric wood and vontae davis were pretty good
Definitely a dreadful class..
Stafford is the only reason why the lions were not 0 and 16 for the last 10 years
So having the #2 defense in the NFL in both YPG and PAPG in 2014 had nothing to do with the Lions being good that year? It was the 11 times in 17 games that the Lions scored less than 20 points that made them good?
I'm sure it was the lack of weapons he had in Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate. Or his offensive line that finished in the same position in sacks allowed (11th) as Pass Attempts (also 11th).
1 thing is for sure though; The Detroit Lions in 2014 boasting the 2nd best defense in YPG and PAPG with 3 All-Pro players (Suh, Levy, Quin), and featuring all-time great WR Calvin Johnson would have definitely gone 0-16 without Matthew Stafford.

God is good
The success of the team is worth acknowledging for a quarterback, but it shouldn’t be a huge factor, or reason to not give someone the top grade here.
Now if we were grading coaches, you’d have a good argument to weigh that heavily
Damn unless dude got 5000 passing yards, 2000 rushing yards, 3000 yards after catch, 20 pro bowl appearances in 3 years somehow hes a "meh" or "miss"
I think the point is that the 1st round pick is extraordinarily valuable and it really should only be used on a special type of player. Anything less is just meh...
they called vontae davis a meh. i remember this guy playing reeeally well
@Tyler G Stafford would've won a playoff game if the refs didn't cheat for the Cowgirls. It's also a team game, so he's not the blame for not winning in the playoffs. He's also never had a run game!
@Tyler G They have never truly given him talent he has put the team on his back for years, the same arguments should be applied to Barry Sanders and Calvin Johnson if W/L is your only indicator. The lions only win because he's under center and thats facts. (As a bears fan)
Percy Harvin was dominate for 6 seasons. Also helped Seattle win superbowl
This video lost credibility in the first :30 by calling Stafford “meh”. He’s still the youngest ever to throw for 5000 yards, fastest ever to 20,000 yards, owns the nfl record for most comebacks in a season, and accomplished all that after missing most of his first two seasons. Add to the fact that he’s had 3 head coaches and was drafted to the worst team in nfl history, I’d say he was definitely a hit.
Lions are not the worst team in NFL History, But i get what your sayin
Andrew Cumming 2008 lions were.
Stratford doesnt win. All stats. No wins. Hes incredibly mediocre
How can he be a hit if he’s done nothing for the lions? Dude might have good stats but if it doesn’t translate to wins not sure how it’s a hit. That dude had megatron and still couldn’t win a playoff game
@@gavinbeard4026 he's on the lions we could have Tom Brady and still miss the playoffs
So was Barry Sanders a “meh” pick because his team only won one playoff game in his career?
Yeah bro Calvin Johnson is so trash because he hasn’t won a playoff game.
Exactly! C’mon
i’m fact brady only won 7 rings i would say that’s meh
Garbage argument, Stafford has never been considered a top 5 QB while playing, Barry and Calvin were the best at their position while playing and all time
Well he wasn't throwing to Calvin fucking Johnson Jr was he? Stafford is a QB
This guy thinks pro bowls are the only thing that makes someone’s career a hit😂. And he really put brian cushing and Mathew Stafford in the same category like wtf
You now this draft sucks when mark sanchez has the most qb playoff wins in the draft.😂😂😂🙈
the fucking lions suck
Crazy stat, but Sanchez has more playoff road wins than Tom Brady. That’s also proof that stats don’t always show the full story.
Rex Stetson yeah but that’s just because Tom Brady wins so much he doesn’t have to play on the road in the playoffs.
honestly sanchez played his best in the playoffs
He was on the Jets team with revis and that nice defense
So making multiple Pro Bowls makes you a 'meh' this guy can't be trusted
If you don't make more than 1 pro bowl your trash I guess, he called Stafford raji and Crabtree meh lol
Well Stanford is a meh pick mostly because he was number 1. He hasn’t won games with them so it can’t be a hit of a pick imo
Kendall Nash Yeah Crabtree is a meh. Not that good of a career for him
Feel like the guy could've been a HOF QB if he with a better team.
@@whitesticcwilly8907 Well its not his fault Matthew Stafford didnt fail the lions the lions failed Stafford no defence and no run game and no coaching staff
So I’m seeing old comments from 2 years ago, it makes me smile seeing that real fans understood stafford was a Hit. Now he’s a Super Bowl champion.
Ye
He’s certainly had a good career, and he’s now proven he was capable of being the starting quarterback for a team that wins a playoff game, let alone championship.
frfr
This would actually be a great segment if they had a competent analyst
Facts
Stafford is a hit he’s just on a cursed crappy team
Hes a meh. Hes had every opportunity to showcase his talent and he's just not good enough. Makes too many key mistakes. If he was a mid or late first you could argue for sure that hes a hit. But when you are the number 1 overall pick, you gotta be damn near transcendent to justify that pick. At least do enough to carry your team to more than 1 playoff appearance, and a sub 500 record all while having possibly the 3rd best WR ever. Hes a good, solid qb, but a very meh #1 overall pick
I know he made mistakes but he gets 4000 to 5000 passing yds a year he’s a hit
Naw, he's only gonna get close to 5k yard with Megatron. He's mediocre.
@@MrDanielWP Wrong, in 2017 he had 4500 yards and 29 TDs and was one of the best QBs in the nfl
@@KING-ti9ys - In 2018, Stafford had 3777 yards, 21 TDs, and 11 INTs, ranking 16th in yards. He's put up some good numbers, but he's had an awesome WR corps for most of those seasons. He's also playing from behind against prevent defenses, so his numbers are inflated. I didn't say he's terrible, I said he's mediocre.
I would say Stafford is a hit. The reason he hasn't won a playoff game is bc the Lions have been rebuilding since the 90's
All Hail Rodgers yeah
Yeah because thetas an excuse for his inaccuracy his ridiculous amount of picks thrown each year, he still stares down his receivers, Peyton Manning said that stafford is missing things qbs at the age of 15 have. You’re making excuses for a guy who threw to Calvin Johnson, best wideout ever, Jared cook, top tight end and many more. You know nothing he’s straight up a miss
BaronVonBielski Wanna spit out any more lies or are you done
I think a Meh is fair for Stafford's production. After all, we are talking about the number 1 overall pick. That kind of pick is supposed to be reserved for a guy who can alter the fortunes of your franchise. But while Stafford has racked up passing yards since his selection, he is rarely in the top ten for QBR, or passer rating on a season. Other advanced analytics also place him towards the middle of the pack for NFL signal callers. I think it is a fair assessment of Stafford to say that the Lions have received much closer to his floor than his ceiling from his prospect projections. There is something to be said for a reliable starting QB that doesn't hurt your team's win probability, even if he doesn't significantly add to it. But for a number one overall, that gets a Meh.
@@BaronVonBielski Stafford got better after CJ left? You don't know shit. Also Cook was never on the Lions. You don't even know what you're talking about.
Stafford took an 0-16 to the playoffs in less than 3 seasons, well missing a significant amount of time injured. And he is the best QB in Lions history BTW
@BlackWatchAmbush Layne - 49%, 15,710 YD, 118 TD, 142 INT, 48 FUM

Percy Harvin was definitely a hit for the Vikings. He played quite well and then got traded for more value than his original pick. He was a late first rounder, that's way more than you can expect in the 20-32 range where you only have about a 55% chance of getting an above average starter.

“Might be the Lions’ all time leading passer, but...”
No, no buts. That’s not how it works. “The Lions organization is garbage so that must mean everybody on the team is” is this video’s logic
How the hell is Stafford a Meh?? Not his bad his team has always been dogshit, he's carried that sorry excuse of a franchise since he's been drafted
tomás zazzali hasn’t really done anything......
But he's never really been considered a top QB. He's been named to 1 pro bowl and an alternate for another, which is the year he threw for 5,000 yards (an amazing accomplishment). But that's it, the one 5,000 yard season and a 2015 pro bowl. Sure he's been the Lion's most productive QB, but that's not hard if you look at their previous QB's. He's been good but not consistently great.
Calvin Johnson made him look like a better quarterback than he really was
@@27pattywhack2 he had better years after Megatron left lol he was too reliant on Megatron when he was young, but has since matured and spreads the ball around better.
@@MattPawlowski yea ok lol good joke
Dope video. Do more of these.
If Malcolm Jenkins wasn’t a hit in here I would’ve went crazy
4:45 weird to think Jenkins was drafted to the saints then went to the eagles then went back to the saints 😂
I was looking for this comment hah, yea I was thinking that too.
Please do more hit miss and meh video s
Nick pleaseeeee
How are you gonna call Matthew Stafford meh he’s an elite quarterback on a bad team that’s not his fault
Tyler Murray Elite QBs win in the postseason
@@Simpnamedslickback ask joe flacco lol
@@Simpnamedslickback Only when they have decent teams.. Football isn't a solo sport, no matter how good you are. Only idiots think the way you do.
Tyler Murray a team with an elite QB shouldn’t always be ass like the lions are
@@cheezitchar1239 define always ass.... After going 0-16 with an awful team (games weren't close and the Browns terrible season had much closer games), the Lions went on stretch of making the playoffs 3 out of 4 years. Not many teams outside of the Patriots can say that. Of course no wins is tough, but no run game and poor management doesn't help Stafford.
Look at the Lions draft picks from 2011-2017 worst by far in the NFL. Stafford is a super bowl winning QB with amazing game winning drives in last three playoff games in 2021. I would say he was a big hit now.
Stafford and Raji are definitely not meh’s. I love this series, but you can really tell that this channel had to do a few of these before it got good at evaluating a draft class.
Stafford is a meah? Look at The franchise that he's running
