The Spitfire F Mk24 is the most powerful piston engine aircraft in the game with an inline V engine. I'm sure it has the highest power to weight ratio of any piston fighter in the game and in the world as well
quick feedback regarding me: Stock to spaded vids are the most entertaining , because when u are grinding something.. u can really relate to the performance.
Most Spitfire grinds in Warthunder are painful. You always lack insane amounts of HP when stock due to the rank 4 fuel unlock. BUT! Spaded Spitfires are goated. I especially enjoy the L MK IX at 4.3 which totally outperforms anything at its BR (except premium BS planes like the XP50). The MK 24 is also great. Nothing says BR compression like catching an AIM9 in a WW2 prop. Snail be snailing.
This thing has sat in my 7.0/7.3 GRB as a means of air deterrent for ages. A shallow dive puts you above 500mph easily, combo that with peoples general lack of spacial awareness when playing CAS, you can just humiliate anything
the mk24 is defently good at 7.0 because i often play the f8f at 7.0 and i actually do better against jets than props, so long as you climb all the can do to u is run
P-51H is better. Sure, it can't turn with Spit Mk24, but it doesn't need to. It's faster, climbs and accerates like a rocket, and nothing in the game with a prop can dive with it. Against the Spit, the P-51H picks when and where to fight and can disengage and dive away whenever it wants to, and the only way the Spit can keep up is to tear its own wings off. In a 1v1, unless the Spit driver is a lot better than me, I'm gonna win. The only reason why the Spit is at a higher BR is because so few War Thunder players actually know how to energy fight, and they're terrible with the P-51H, which is the ultimate prop energy fighter.
Good timing, just unlocked the 5.7 MK14e. Idk if I'll go higher, it looks like any jet player with half a brain can run trains on you all day every day.
Keep playing for a bit and get the LF MK IX. It's my favorite prop to play by far - It's basically a MK IX (i.e. really good) but with an engine that's about a third more powerful. The best part is that (once spaded) the climb rate is so ludicrous that you will be higher than everyone else 99% of the time. Legitimately the only problems I have with this plane are the "decent" speed (you won't be outrunning a bearcat or anything) and the "meh" guns (2x 20mm and 2x 50 cal - not amazing, but workable). 10/10 would spitfire again.
I haven't played in years and everytime I see War Thunder videos nowadays, I'm like "wtf is this matchmaking" or "Why are these planes in the same match". While the spit mk24 has always been up against jets, I still think superprops should be in their own BR group and early jets (1945-1950) in their own BR group. Their excuse used to be that there weren't enough players, but there are double (or even more) the amount of players as when I played. The first Me-262 should not see a Sabre A-5 and a G56 should not see a F-80.
This spitfire is certainly fun to play, but if you encounter a jet who knows what he is doing, you don't have a chance against it 1v1. They just won't allow you to turnfight or do the 700kmh dive. I feel like Spitfire MK22 is much more competitve in current state of the matchmaking. Also, the time you need to get to an actual battle is just unbearable. I usually take it 1-3 times during the play session and that's it. Also, the best belt for hispanos is either ground or stealth. Air belt is just utterly useless. Gaijin must give it hispanos V instead of II.
Ive just spaded it. It didnt take long. I was a little worried about being the only prop in jet matches. But people seem to want to turn fight me with jets... it didnt take long to spade for this reason. Also downtiers is almost like seal clubbing
so depressed it seems Gaijin will never add the Supermarine Spiteful or Seafang which are the ultimate forms of the Spitfire design. Also, i hope Gaijin adds the Spitfire MK8 that was used by the Australians
I cant bring myself to spade this plane because of the shit matchmaker. Also like 2 months ago before i had this plane i was looking around for reviews on this plane only to find none so although you making this video now is bad timing for me, at least for other players they can now find this video in the future.
Anyone else think that the Spitfires have some of the most horrid energy retention in the game? I don't know how accurate it is to real life, but for such a high-performance aircraft the top speed and speed retention on these planes is unacceptable. It accelerates quickly but slows down past 600 kph on a straight line
It is nowhere near accurate.... there was a reason spitfires became famous during ww2... they were some of the fastest/strongest planes to come across during ww2 .... just gaijin doesn't do it any justice.
If that’s at sea level, that seems about right. The Mk. 14’s top speed there is just under 600 and the Mk. 24 should be similar. At 7.5 km it should be much faster than that, though.
@@arcadeians I mean its really good, and extremely fast, you can just do circles around most things...which doesnt help only againstT-34, cause its got armor everywhere, prone to eat stuff it shouldnt.
That thing is OP , 8 out 10 games are down tire, but be careful with down tire becuse in down tire you will get team mates with down tire IQ to. Most of my win games in it are in up tires. But in general it is good in air and tonks games to.
i kinda gave up on the british tech tree at some point and I never got to this one. I find that my favorite prop in the game is the italian Re 2005. It has similar maneuverability to the earlier spitfires. It has the 109 engine (i forget the name but it's great) it gets 3 mg 151's, one of which shoots through the propeller, and 2 italian 12.7 mgs. it's a unique combination of capabilities and it's just a joy to fly. Unfortunately it suffers due to being in the ju288 br bracket.
SK-60 will be your worse enemy in this bucket, SK have air strat and they really like to go for props first becuse you will be only one on altitude just like they are becuse of air start , and those 30mm HE on swedish guns are brutal for any prop. And dem do hispano do not like to kill jets aka spark like creasy on slightly highter ping. Fun aircraft this spit is but frustrating if enemy in jet know WTF he is dooing , aka you will be siting duck for experience and patient jet player , but WTF we can do gajzila know better what BR is good for this prop. By the whey did I say, I got dem talisman for this bucket from war bond loot box , I am not shure shell I be happy or depress with my luck 🥴
They are called hisparkos for a reason. I don't know why Tankenstein called them good, the video shows that the best thing about armament in this spitfire is its ammo capacity.

Those Hispanos are absolutely ridiculous against low tier jets and high tier props alike...some of the best in the game.
ill take anm3's over any 20 mm in the game, that includes the volcan
Quick tip: Use universal belt for the MkII. They are much better than the AA belt.

tbh at 6.7 i have fears of full downtiers cause i can face the Spitfire IX lol

I forget is that the last one in the 5.7 tab? My favorite spitfire is the 5.7 one with the 150 octane

I think it's 6.7 now. Would be interesting to see an update vid on it
spitfire mk 22 is better with lower br and lighter weight, just doesnt get 150 octane fuel, i have no idea why
you referred to the spitfire mk22 as the f-22 a couple times lol 10:10
Because it's called Spitfire F Mk 22.
great vid
Dope video mister tankenman!
The perfect example of nearly every british plane being overtiered unfortunately.....
I feel that there are people that get so good with the spitfires that they up the br a bit too much, having the 1a at 2.0 is criminal.
The fair br for this is 6.3 i still get nightmares when this Monster was 5.7

How is the spitfire mk XIV?
I like it it’s a bit unreliable stock tho
It's probably the best Griffon given it's BR and damage of Hispano's.
