- The G.91 R/4 is a premium rank V fighter than can be used in both the German and Italian tech trees. In short, it is a monster beast, in all the best ways. But, even still, it costs a LOT of GE, so is it worth it? I go over all of that and more in my G.91 R/4 Full Review for both the German AND Italian versions, as they are the same plane with the same armaments.

Great subsonic airplane.
My father did 371 combat missions in Angola and Guiné Bissau during the Wars of independence of the Portuguese colonies in África.
He remembers the plane with Tears in his eyes. His Best friend and wingman was shot down and Killed by a portable AA Strela missile in 1973.
The troops on the ground loved them,when they were being pounded by Enemy artillery. The 2 250 kg bombs did a lot of damage.

Taking off the "New Boosters" modification very much reduces the wing rip at low altitude in the R/4 as I can speak from lots of experience as having grinded almost 100% of the Italian air tree with it.

The G.91 R/4 and my Su-11 are perfect for jet noobs like me. Even if I fly like an idiot I somehow manage to get at least one kill per game. You're wrong about the AS-20 Nords. They're nowhere as good as they used to be. Near misses used to annihilate tanks. Now a near miss won't even knock out a track. Regular bombs are much more useful
pro tip for the manually guided missiles like the bullpup and nord (that a surprising amount of people dont know):
because they are manually guided, if you dont give any input, they will fly almost completely straight. meaning, once you figure out the distance and angle you prefer on an attack run, you can basically just dumbfire it like a rocket with upwards of 90% accuracy. Go into a test drive and experiment for yourself to see where youre comfortable at launching one dumb.
iirc, the bullpup lands a bit low, and the nord just barely lower than the center of the crosshair, so a good rule of thumb is to aim slightly above the target youre launching at, if at a 45-65 degree dive, and it should hit relatively center on it, obviouslyt based on the distance as well to the target considering if the motor burns out it will begin to drop a bit more on its trajectory curve.
this dumbfire method is why bullpups and nords are so deadly in the hands of some who knows this, and can do it well. for me, the g 91 is a guaranteed 3 kills minimum before i have to rearm or get shot down, usually the first 2 kills being on my first pass.

@@johnbennett951 I learned this from console playing before I switched to pc, made a lot of planes worth using again. Still do this on pc as it’s quicker and easier.
Stick with it and you’ll get the hang of it quick, don’t let yourself get frustrated while you work out when it’s best to fire one and you should be fine

I was insanely bad with the manual Nords as well. Then i checked out OddBaws "How to Cas" video where he showed his control setup. I instantly became about 200 times better and started hitting near to every rocket after some practice. I can only recommend to try his controls. He has it set, so that when you press a "guiding" button of your choice the guidence sets to 100 percent after you let go it goes down to 0 again. It turns the nords into " WASD" guided rocket you could say.
Would also be an interesting video to see u improve with these rockets in a little compilation.
The G91 R4, the Nords have been nerfed to oblivion. I get a direct hit on the turret and still didn't kill the tank. Also it's not accurate with how the missiles were in RL they had a warhead of 33 kg of composition B which is about 43.89 kg of TNT equivalent. What is the current almost 16 kg of explosive bullshit. Good thing no one touched the Bullpups. And this is not me being salty, gaijin is too lazy to make planes have different BR in Air and Ground modes.
i 100% agree. they feel so useless atm even if u hit perfectly. i dont understand why gaijin doenst give air und ground modes different BR... doenst makes sense to me
I agree with everything but im not sure how you guys get no kills with direct hits. I get 4/4 kills with the nords at times. The times i do miss are 100% not direct hits.
The current explosive amount is correct, warhead weight does not equal explosive weight. Besides that the war head itself isn’t physically large enough to carry that much explosive. Also the Bullpup’s and AS 30 were also hit the corrections, though it wasn’t as noticeable do them being much larger.
There's a reason the Bullpups didn't get touched, because all the US mains complained about the Nords being "ToO oP" and thus being unhistorically nerfed into the ground
@@bfmv-thepoison1347 hitting any ERA equiped tank on the turrent front usually doenst kill it. Hitting next to it on the ground is often times better cuz it explodes the ammo in the hull.
I suck at flying and even i manage to make very good profits/progression with this plane lol.

I know people tend to like the G91 R4 more cause it gets missiles, but don't sleep on the G.91 R/3 for the German tree. A pair of DEFA cannons means you can actually kill things, and not having like 750kg of missiles on the wings means its a lot more manoeuvrable than the R4. Still gets the Nords for ground RB
mmm you should try different controls for the Nords. You can set it up so the act much like the aircraft... as in the control axis goes back to 0 when you release the controls, much easier to guide them on target.
I still remember how irritated they were when the german G.91 R/4 got introduced (with only 2 Nords) and when it later could take 4 nords xD
God damn bro you got my like for sure and a follow. I took your recommendation and picked it up. First game I got 5 player kills and 94k Silver Lions and 26k research. This plane is awesome!
so a quick thing about the nords. They are BUSTED with their head on capiability. The usual tactic i have for them is to bait someone into a headdon, of which happens with literally everyone at that br. Get them wihin about 1km, if you are at a decent speed like 500kmph just fire it off then, 99% of the time it requires no guidance from that point so you can just peel off without having to worry about guidance. At that range and with the average reaction time of most pilots theres literally nothing they can do to dodge it. THe proxy det cone on the AA variant is just too large to duck out of the way. On top of this most players dont even know the r/4 has headon missile capiability so they arent expecting it. Using this strategy i ALWAYS come out with 2 kills a match at least, ive had maybe one or two in the last 200 that didnt work out that way.
Along with this the nords are also great for overshoot protection, or to do deflection shots that the 9b simply couldnt dream of doing. It takes a bit of practice but ive gotten to the point where at basically any given speed and closure rate at a 90* angle, i can predict when to fire off a nord so that itll smack a plane thats getting by me. Or like i said with overshoot, if youre just going to overshoot someone, you could last minute fire a nord and angle it sort of towards a plane as youre flying by, unless youre literally within collision distance the det cone wont kill you, just the enemy
I would have literally gave the same score as a judge for the G91-R4. I have the German one. Honestly even the g91r3 is very good too. It doesnt look as cool but it has more thrust and still turns as hard as you could possibly want it to. You can easily dodge sparrow, even 2 at a time if you are at just the right speed to max g invert roll and halfway through the loop you make another loop going horizontal instead of a vertical manuever. It can dodge almost anything if you have extremely good situational awareness. One great strategy with it and other planes is to make sure you always keep enough distance between any craft that poses a challenge and build up speed/altitude while doing so. Birds work amazing for me, both as and agm nords. Yeah they were nerfed quite a while ago, however they buffed the effectiveness of them about 6 weeks ago. They still aren't as good as they originally were but they're better. It's all about making your aim delay around 30-45% and having a comfortable sensitivity. Then you can aim smoothly and slowly while zooming in and accurately shooting moving or standing ground vehicles. If it's a plane your chasing with a 2.5 km gap or less, good luck with tracking those suckers. Big talent. I can see how mouse n board work much better. But you can do damn well with the stick.
I’m loving this plane so far I carry 3 nords for the ground and I keep one for the air mainly for choppers or head ons it’s amazing for head ons but so far it’s great and it has the HIGHEST silver lion bonus for a premium plane even the 11.3 mig 21 only has 600 bonus this plane has 1k

Aim 9bs are bad. They dont have modern buffs and radar locking stuff to increase its capabilities. They can be used though. Just stay between 1-2km so they don't overload too fast
Extra: they are really bad at predicting and if a person goes in a straight line it may just fly off to some magical place
@@frankhill4358It's ok, the g91 has 2 different AAMs so i didnt know which one. you use the aim 9s when the enemy is flying relatively straight and when you have a speed advantage. It also helps to be higher than them

I bought it today, its good versus enemy jets and good with enemy ground units, just learn how to use NORDs vs Tanks.

Plane right now is horrible at Air RB -> 9 matches out of 10 you will play agains 9.3 and 9.7 (in here you will have A10 with all aspect missiles whicheats g91 for breakfest) machines ; Aim 9b is super easy to dodge so it is not a realiable in game killing tool if you shoot outside 1,5km away; plane rips way to easy while pulling 4g manouvers - so you have to unequip "booster" modification also dogfighting in it with more fuel than the minimum loadout is not advaisable espesially when you face sabers and miq 15s (never ever go into vertical fight with migs with this thing (have seen ppl in G91 vertical fighting mig 21 so there is also that ... )) ; In ground RB Nords got so badly nerfed you wont kill t62 with direct hit into the turret (explosive mass is a joke)...
to conclue if you are new to the game please do not buy this plane

its pretty easy to kill an A-10 with a g91 if you just dodge the head on. you can actually TOY with the A10s

Plane is interesting because often you fight the time traveling A-10 with AIM-9L
No time travel required, both were in service at the same time.

I experienced the point with the weak wings in my first few matches a lot. if u arent carefull, its gona happen quite a bit. i was still able to land in most cases though

Good plane only let down by its poor guns. The 4x M2 are just too weak at this BR. You either have to be very lucky or you have to put alot of lead on target before they go down.
My ass always ends up in 9.7 💀
I suggest you turn off relative control for the AGM
The aim9bs are horrible I shoot at a target flying straight and he doesnt even see me or avoid the missile and it still misses from 1km away.

Damn shit sucks after AS Nords got nerfed pretty hard, people's bitching about getting killed by G.91 yet they weren't say a single thing about A-10 with Maverick & AIM-9L in 9.7 that like to compress itself to 8.7 in Air RB...goes to show how dumb the general War Thunder Community is considering u need to manually guide Nords unlike Mavs...
I am ass when guiding the Nords but when use them as normal rockets with zero drop they smack.

I have it for the German tech tree and I sadly have to say that I never find myself using it...ever. Its acceleration is too slow when compared to a lot of it's other counterparts and it's cannons feel slow. Not to mention that it loses momentum a lot more than other fighters at the same BR and even lower.
Your evaluation of "it does everything well" is accurate because it certainly doesn't do things great. It leaves a lot to be desired. It's a many trick Manny that really can only do the trick half way.
It's pretty bad migs will shred you to death you are extremely slow and turn like a bus. Su-25 just avoided 4 of my shitty rockets just by flying straight and barrel rolling. What a waste of GE. After that i quit the match since without rockets it's impossible to get a kill anyway. I hate that plane.

@@DerSmufus it doesn't matter, it still can steal burning/flat spin kills from more competent players. This plane objectively is one of the weakest 8.7s. but it's easy to fly and easy to master, it will lose 1v1 against both mig15 and sabre(all g91s will) but this one for some reason has AA missiles. Yet none of the tree variants have them. Fair the German one with 30mm doesn't need them, but the Italian ones are the same br as this and also only have 4 .50cals for absolutely 0 reason other than to be a crutch for dogshit wallet warriors.
