Dawg I’m jealous this was the last big show that the original 9 were together. Us Iowans love you guys across the pond. You were the ones who grasped them from the beginning with us dirty Des Moines rock kids
I too was there, it was immense and reminds me of the first time they played Download in ‘99 and opened up in bright daylight and killed it. Also love the little Kyuss riff right at the end. RIP Paul and Joey.
Yup I was there as well, Download 2009 in general was a REALLY good year but man seeing these guys headline was a dream come true. I left a battered mess and loved every second of it. Also managed to see them headline Sonisphere 2 years later in 2011 just after Paul died and that show was equally as good for very different reasons.
I'm originally from Des Moines, and would run into the guys regularly early in their careers. They were always class, and good dudes. Never turned people away, and were very awesome, especially with their hometown fans. I bounced a concert for them in like 2003 or 2004. Got to sit and chat with Paul, and shake Joey's hand and tell him how much I love his drumming. It's so surreal to know I would talk to those guys regularly and they're gone... it's weird. Anyway, funny aside. Mick Thompson (#7) used to give guitar lessons at a guitar shop in West Des Moines called "Ye Olde Guitar Shoppe". In 1997, my senior year of high school, I took lessons there for a little bit, and he'd rag on me all the time. I loved how he'd just mess with me, even though at 18, I didn't understand at the time. Now I look back on it with fondness! Anyway, he would show off pictures of a Pre-Corey Taylor Slipknot playing birthday parties. It'd be fuckin' nuts to know I had Slipknot play my birthday party... a year later, they're on Ozzfest and they break out. It was a crazy ride!
We love and miss you Joey & Paul. Slipknot was something very special and those two guys played such a huge part in that sound and intensity. We lost two guys that had so much heart, but they gave us so much kick ass music to keep their memory alive.
Joeys passing was a tough one to digest. He was one of the reasons I wanted to play drums. He was iconic. I was gutted I never got to see Slipknot while he was playing with them. The "Jump the fuck up" moment at a slipknot gig is so good. It gets chaotic. One of the moments you never forget 🤘 Rest easy Joey and Paul 🙏
If you like a day to remember I highly suggest seeing them play….I saw them, asking Alexandria and point north for the first time and all 3 put on a great show
@@justinp6067 I saw ADTR couple years ago with Beartooth, amazing show as well ! If you didn't see Beartooth, i highly suggest as well, they're fucking crazy live !
Watch any of the preformances of Slipknot in 2002 please. Preferably in London ;) It was their peak time period. Also please watch Joey's drum cams in Disasterpiece, The Heretic Anthem or People = Shit
i was lucky enough (or old enough..) to see Slipknot open the main stage at Ozzfest in '99, in Nashville, no one knew who they were, and it was so chaotic seeing 9 guys in masks going nuts on stage, they were moshing with each other while playing songs, just putting on a helluva show, i was amazed at what i was seeing, it was a great experience. i saw them a few times after, all great, but that first time, really stuck with me!
They were so brutal at the start of their career, Corey often hit the mic so hard against his own mouth he'd begin bleeding 🤣 chaos is a perfect way to describe what they were doing. Even Corey's growls were so chaotic he would've ended up destroying his vocal cords if he'd kept on doing them like that 🤣
FINALLY, somebody commented on Clown just throwing his mic off to the side!! Details are key and you notice them Aileen! I love that about your reactions!!! Plus your passion for aggressive, deep bass, crunchy metal :] is awesome I loved Joey's drumming so much and miss it! RIP Joey and Paul.
I've seen Slipknot many times and I was at this Download Festival and whilst his video is great, the energy in that crowd is something that can't be described. It's been 13 years and I still get goosebumps thinking about that weekend.
8:50 when you said "oof that was a nice" That was a Kyuss riff, also plays a Kyuss riff right at the end.. Awesome stoner rock band. Best roadtrip music.
Growing up 2 hours away from des moine. I found that even if a person didn’t listen to this kind of music every person across the state knew Slipknot. I think that’s awesome!
Some of the cam footage of just Joey doing Joey things is on the dvd Disasterpieces. Song's Heretic Anthem and Disasterpieces. Also he has an AMAZING drum solo in there as well. Great reaction, can't wait to see what else is on deck. PEACE!
You have to watch the behind the scenes with Joey so u can feel what kind of person he was its awsome Love the content always enjoy seeing u react to a band or song that I love
Metalheads are totally the most friendly people on the planet. I've been in some very violent moshpits but the moment someone falls down or is hurt everyone around will help.
You can find his drum solo similar to this setup it’s a ton floating around UA-cam. And if you want to see something really touching check out Slipknots tribute to Paul Gray.
Slipknot is chaos but it works. Like they’re legendary. And it’s like there’s so many elements to what they do and what they are that they keep everyone interested. And every musician that’s in that band or was previously in the band is so incredibly talented. Top notch.
I was there, Was crazy, got into the pit on the left hand side for this, helped a little boy jump out from getting hurt. I'm working at download this year. It's gonna be sick!! This was the last time I saw Paul alive, Was at sonisphere festival in 2012 I think it was for his goodbye tour, was super sad but I have the funniest story for it. There was 70,000 plus slipknot fans there, this year will be over 200,000 😳, it's our 2nd home for us metal fans in England. No matter what you wear or what you look like, everyone is equal. It's pure bliss 🥰, Also loving the reactions on videos
You're my type of woman @aileensenpai for liking slipknot and heavy music in general. I recommend the music video of my plague and the top 10 best of Joey Jordison.
This was one of the best performances. I’ve seen them live where they did this in the US and I always will love Slipknot. It’s hard trying to tell my family I’m not mad. This music calms me
How on earth can he still play VERTICALLY on that platform like nothing?? This has to be one of the greatest things i´ve ever seen on a live show. I´ve only saw them live a long time ago back in 2005, worlwide timeless beasts!
I've seen them 4 times. Two with all the original members and two without Paul but with Joey....RIP to both but I love this band I will see them as much as I possibly can until the end of time! ❤
awesome reaction, I was there ✌️last time I saw Joey and Paul together 😢 what a night though, was absolutely mental, I'll never forget it! think there was 80k of us there!
I was lucky enough to see them over 30 times during the first 3 years of them coming to the scene. Got to hang out with them at Lupo's heartbreak Hotel during the first tour. Amazing guys, truly good and down to earth guys. P.S. Mick made my friend piss in his own shoes cause he doesn't like adidas shoes lol good times.
If you want a heavy and intense performance watch them perform The Heretic Anthem Live on Conan O’ Brien. It was Slipknot in their prime. Also, it was the exact day Jay Weinberg met the band backstage for the first time when he was just 10 yrs old.
Nice reaction! I met Joey after a Slipknot concert back in 2005 in Michigan. I went to a show right after that at a small bar in Grand Rapids. Randy from Lamb of God was playing in his side band. It was back when they didn’t take there mask off but I had seen him once before. I talked to Joey for a few minutes and he seemed to be a really nice guy. R.I.P Joey.
so cool that you reacted to this performance after I recommended on your channel! These guys put in everything they have with their shows. How epic wouldn't it been to be there. So jealous lol! keep up the great reactions. Really enjoy your channel
Welcome to the slipknot fandom lil sis. Glad to have you here with us. I love the world of Metal/Rock...plus We have an amazing support system and the best bands and artists that are making a difference! One thing that makes me damn proud to be a lifelong metal fan is to see these guys amongst several others like Korn , Tool, Seether, Linkin Park, Foo fighters , and many many more stop the concerts to watch out for the family of fans, not to mention the causes they contribute to, and the social causes they raise awareness of and sense of community and ethics they instill. They give us a healthier way to get out aggression, and demonstrate how to bring us all together no matter what and how to care for everyone in their own individual ways ! It's a powerful genre. In a lot of ways these bands are (now) acting as leaders to look up to. Expressing their struggles and pain, overcoming it and advocating for others and trying to help everyone is what sets these bands apart from the rest. It's all very cathartic! I love our metal world/community.
The reaction i never knew i needed! I LOVE it when people react to this video, the genuine expression on everyone's face is so amazing. For us Maggots this is nothing new, still impressive tho but you get what i mean, and seeing people getting to know one of the many reasons why we absolutely love Slipknot is just a great feeling! You should do The Heretic Anthem live on Conan O'Brian. It's incredible, and what makes it more crazy is that it's insanely heavy for television. I remember seeing it live and it blew my mind.
You’re reaction was how mine was for the first time. I been listening to the knot since I was 7 years old so for me it’s hard not to picture a world with out slipknot
Did you already see the live version of „Till we die“ ? It really shows that Joey and Paul were both more than band mates, brothers in a way, so tragic that both are gone for ever.
Been listening to Slipknot 20 years and their self titled album and Iowa Still kicks the shit out od me Such a beutiful part of raw brutal energy you can get from music 🤘

i saw them back in 2001 and when they did this with spit it out, sid was in the crowd next to me and my friends. dude beat the hell out of us and it was awesome.
Watch Joey's solo from the 2002 live show in London it'll blow your fuckn mind. And it's awesome to hear Corey scream Joey's and Paul's name in this video

Beautiful chaos is a perfect description.

Amazing performance...love so much when you realize that the drum-set spinning ❤😂
Exactly, this is why Slipknot is one of my fav bands ever
I subscribed cause she's a good soul and very beautiful but mostly cause she gives off good vibes!
There is a reason they were ranked number one performance in rolling stone magazine for years they are so amazing

I was at the Manchester show on that tour and the whole place got down. The crowd in that London show on the DVD were just not that great
@@anthonycooper3573, glad y’all did. I’m sure they were too.
Corey is arguable the absolute greatest metal/rock front man EVER.
in my opinion, corey, chester bennington (rip), and jonathan davis are the 3 best
@@yourlocalgarbageman6659 Yeah handsdown totaly agree on that those 3 are the best no doubt
Did it in Sweden like 10-15 years ago...best concerst ever...was like "only" 20-25k people and I can tell you the ground shake
I love this one SO much one of my favourite songs ever.
SPIT .. IT .. OUT ......UUUUAHHHHH!
to all my 90s early 2000s,
We are the pulse of the maggots
F**k me, I'm all out of enemies
Legend has it on that night in the United Kingdom, in the moment everybody jumped and landed it recorded a motherfuking earthquake a seismic scale
Never mind Joey and his drums if you understand quantum physics you would understand that you're hotter than a kugelblitz
Subbed 💁
