The Nick Symmonds Track Classic is back! And this year we have eight events over eight weeks, including field events!! Free Run Gum, autographs, and cash prizes at each event. Location + time & dates here: instagram.com/nicksymmonds. ALSO, this marks the beginning of Sunday AM video drops. For the next eight weeks, my UA-cam videos on this channel will go live at 9 AM Pacific. As always, I will be responding to comments for the first hour! :D
I know this feeling. I walked around at 245 pounds, and would play at 265 for football. Heavyweight wrestling class was 235 in MA at the time. Only respite was you could make weight the day before meets, so I was like Nick here trying to cut weight. Not fun. On the plus side, I could plump back up overnight and have 10-15 pounds on my opponents.
@@nicksymmonds From what you said during our interview, the haters on LetsRun might say SUMO Wrestling ;) 🤣 Also, I was surprised how entertaining I found this video!
Waitress: "Would you like a cup of coffee"? Nick: "Coffee is a diuretic, it will make me pee and poop so in theory I should expel more than I ingest". Waitress: "Is that a yes?"
Sleep does wonders. Improves your mood, aids muscle building, and does a thousand other things. I'm only a little bit that surprised someone like Nick sleeps early. The reason for that "little bit" is because he takes so much caffeine: Rungum and Coffee.
@SomethingReallyStrange I'm recovering from an ED right now and Idk why i'm watching this but its so incredibly harmful. Sickening that he did this for views, that he weighed himself that much, purposely skipped dinner, etc. He is an athlete. He should know and promote the importance of fueling your body the right way, not this bullshit.
I used to wrestle in high school, I appreciate your emphasis on the importance of healthy weight cutting! That erg clip definitely gave me flashbacks lol
During an ultramarathon in triple digit heat, a guy I was running with had lost 18 lbs in about 12 hours. He dropped at the next aid station and was in really bad shape.
I did this exact challenge about 10 years ago. I bet my friend $100 that I could lose 10 lbs. in 24 hours. I lost 14 lbs. I ran a marathon within that time and didn't eat much. I also drank a LOT of water just before the first weigh in, which was allowed in our agreement and I think accounted for half or more of the weight loss.
Azka Gul if you want to try to keep the weight off you have to stay in a calorie deficit so eat low calories and burn more than you eat so that you will continue to lose weight because if you just go back to your regular eating you will gain the weight back quick
I run track and cross country and I've wanted too quit so many times in some races and u have helped me so much I think of your vids and I just push through thank you so much
Ive lost about 8 lbs on one of my night time longs run in FL during the summer, about 150 to about 142, though even after chugging like 2 L of water asap after I still got a very harsh dehydration feeling trying to sleep that night.
I find with nomad fasting or multi day fasting the loss is quicker when drinking more water. From reading it seems because your body is working through even that water still, the extra trips to the bathroom also help 😊
But what do U win as a wrestler. Best case U are ignored when in the olympics. Worst case u get used up in fake wrestling. In the middle of the road you roll around in sexual positions wearing skin tight leotard with a Creepy coach watching and telling u what positions he wants to see.
As the guys on Peaked Too Early have discussed, the heavyweight mile (200 pounds and up) seems like a fun challenge. If you got up to 200, what do you think you could run? And who else do you think would be good at it?

According to Guinness World Records, Ron Allen is the world record holder. He lost 9.7kg (21.4 lbs) in 24 hours, in August 1984. (Went from 113kg (248.9 lbs) to 103.3kg (227.5 lbs))
Dang, I wish I would've known this. I went on a hike in the desert in the middle of summer, got lost, ran out of water. Left at 246 lbs, came back at 221 lbs. It did slightly exceed 24 hours though, but I also had food before I weighed myself when I got back home. If I weighed myself right before the hike and right after, I bet I still would've lost more than 21.4 lbs, and that would've been right around 24 hours. I bet survival-type situations are excluded from Guiness anyways though
Nick. 2600m in 10 minutes is super impressive. I see your form can be fixed so much on the rowing machine, and this will make you more efficient. Just try to put your arms ahead of your knees before your knees come up
Nick, you are aware that drinking water makes your body hold on to water weight less. meaning you'll be going to the bathroom more the more water you drink, meaning if you stop drinking water you're actually likely to hold on to more water weight
I lose 5 to 7 pounds in the sauna every day (1.5 to 2 hours) but put it right back on drinking fluids in about 30 minutes. Not recommended, but I've been doing it for years and it works for me.
Even though you call yourself the bison I thought you were exaggerating. Would have never guessed you were in the 190 range. That makes the cowboy boot mile even more impressive.

If you water and sodium loaded beforehand then cut the water, sodium, and carbs to glycogen deplete at the right time you could have lost 10 lbs in 24 hours from not doing anything but living and pissing lol. Epsom salt hot baths, sauna suit sauna sessions, jolly ranchers/spit cup, and rubbing alcohol all over your body could double it. It’s too easy, I always cut from anywhere between 175-180 to 165 for powerlifting meets. Used to go from 160-145 over night too.
