Uriel saw all of his "dreams" while suspended in Oblivion. He probably saw every threat to the empire until the time of his death
Uriel had achieved semi-CHIM and saw all the plotlines and contradictions of the future of Tamriel.

@@themoleman6806 If everyday life was a nightmare thanks to Dagon, the nightmares in your sleep would no longer terrify you, Vaerminas relies on people having peaceful lives to torment them in there sleep. I could see her reasoning for ratting out Dagon.. plus the daedric princes in general are all trying to undermine each other.

I would recruit Eola the cannibal, Teldryn Sero the raven rock assassin, and Ingun Black-Briar the creepy Riften alchemist. All three of these characters just feel like they would be right at home in the Dawnstar sanctuary
Cool comment. I think the brotherhood could use more brawn and tact a la Nazir, but it's definitely a faction the misfits of Tamriel are right at home.

Eola because she is eola, aela because she would be able to replace arnbjorn due to the beast blood they share, and faendal because he is the broski and he is an archer, perfect for a part in the brotherhood. I would also have some death hounds join as pets of sorts. Also, another reason I picked faendal is because he would have potential to fill the hole left by veezara. Another reason I chose eola is because she is well acquainted with the lifestyle of the brotherhood, killing people and enjoying it. Another reason I chose aela is because she knows how to kill and when it's right to kill, striking her opponent with arrows in their throats before they even get the chance to look up to see the wolf that just appeared above them, ripping them limb for limb with fierce claws. Next thing you know she starts to feed on the hearts of those dead bodies and then she transforms back to human form. As a team, aela faendal and eola would rip their enemies apart and get coin for doing so.
Uriel also wanted to reform the Empire from an Empire to a Federation of provinces
I believe there's a strong argument for Uriel Septim VII's prophetic dreams coming from the Aedra Akatosh himself. Septim *was* of the line of Dragonborn, and while there are arguments that Akatosh bestows that gift, rather than it being genetic or inherited, I still believe that it's because of that dragon blood/dragon soul connection to Akatosh Uriel had, that his dreams alerted him to trends, conditions and events in the future in order for him to better prepare for and deal with them when they occurred. It is canonical that when the Aedra created Mundus, they gave up a large portion of their powers, and thus cannot manifest physically in Nirn. Working with your chosen protege through dreams, then, seems to be the best way to ensure avoiding disaster. It's possible that, as Dragonborn in TES V: Skyrim, we could have had psychic powers. Making that work in a game might have been a bigger can of worms than Bethesda cared to open, so we got Shouts instead.
The Dragonblood and being Dragoborn could easily be very interesting or more.Prophetic dreams the Blood of Akatosh the blood of time it self runs trough the Dragonborn,just imagine all the lore building

I bet he regrets putting his hopes in me. I never took the amulet to the chapel and just went and did the dark brother hood quest. I’m guessing if we went off of real time my version of the world has already been flooded by demons. And then they got taken over by a bunch of slug people and so on for at lest 3 more take overs.
Or not, since no oblivion gate will open before you proceed somewhat in the main quest. In essence you can simply blame the entire oblivion crisis on the Hero of Kvatch.

It's okay though because during the final battle with your alter ego in shivering isles, I forgot to adjust the settings on my various sex mods and wound getting raped by jyggalag. My last save was so far back I could not undo it. Then my khajiit went super saiyan and saved the day. After that I killed everyone in the shivering isles. That is how my run of oblivion ended.

It would be really interesting if you did a video on Janus Hassildor. But I don't exactly know how much information is there on him. He's definitely one of the more interesting characters of Elder Scrolls.

Mede's Empire is the world Empire..Empire under Septim always kept Thalmor under control. That's why Thalmor always hated the Septim's. Even if Potema Septim was alive, she would be far better Empress than Tidus Mede. Her crazy nature and her magic would be reason enough for Dominion to not mess with her.

I’ve played oblivion and though I only knew him for but a mere few minutes I still respected him for his manliness he was fine with getting stabbed in the back!

He might have got more time to shine had Bethesda not been in such a rush to kill him. I really feel the pacing of the story at the beginning of Oblivion was too fast. He just dies and for some reason everyone knows about it. Then oblivion gates pop up suddenly. This should have happened a hour into the game. The emperor would still die early on but we would get to see his power. That of being able to see more than lesser men. Oh and how about removing his "I seen you before" line. That line makes it feel like your fulfilling a prophecy. Rathee than rising up on your own accord. Without the nagging feeling you need to "close shut the jaws of Oblivion."

@@dutchpatriot17 Killed isn't a good word to use exactly. Lorkhan still kind of exists and Jyggalag was allegedly the strongest Daedric prince yet was subdued by others. If I remember right Lorkhan went down due to similar trickery. Trinimac wasn't killed by boethiah he was cursed to undergo a metamorphosis that made him into malacath. Even so, boethiah is not a weak prince at all and trinimac was fairly powerful as well. I believe being one of the creators of mundus rendered lorkhan weak enough to "kill".

I just think it's funny how different he looks through all of the Elder Scrolls games he was shown. In Arena he has hair and a beard, in Daggerfall he's totally bald with no beard and in Oblivion he has hair but no beard

This video is mostly accurate, but there are a few problems. The Dragon Break wasn't caused by bringing peace to the Illiac Bay, but by the Numidium becoming active. The Dragon Break combined all the alternate timeline endings to Daggerfall so that Bethesda didn't have to choose one ending to make canon. The Dragon Break caused peace. Other than that, great video. I agree with the ultimate message.

You should analyze Mankar Cameron, his plan, whether or not his idea that Lorkan and Dagan are the same is legitimate, whether he has anything to gain from the oblivion crisis, what it would mean for the inhabitants of Nirn. Also I’d be interested to know if the magic he uses to create his Paradise could be used to make peoples lives better. Intuitively and even with some critical thought his plan seems terrible and idiotic but I don’t know enough elder scrolls lore to be more specific than that.
As a Uriel myself, I'm duty bound to like him, so I'm glad he was a good man.

Just to note, i don't think Hammerfell ever became established as a Kingdom in its own right after the Warp in the West. If anything, the four kingdoms to emerge influential in the Iliac Bay would be Daggerfall, Wayrest, Sentinel and Orsinium.

If you can find enough material can you do a video about titus mede II? I hate how he gets a free pass for signing the white gold concordat after wiping out most of the dominions forces and their best general in a single battle. The terms of the treaty were the exact same ones from before the war started. He could have easily gotten a white peace.
It's pretty much canon that the Empire would've lost the war had the peace treaty not been signed.
I don't know if it's canon, but it was actually the Forgotten Hero, the protagonist of "The Elder Scrolls: Legends" who wore the Emperor's armor during the Battle of the Red Ring, and defeated Naarifin, giving the Empire a victory. The texts related to the Great War say it was the Emperor because no one knew there was someone else under that armor

I wouldn't exactly count Daggerfall's events as evidence of ol' Uriel being particularly ingenius. The Dragon Break was entirely unintentional on his part; Uriel's ultimate aim with the Numidium was to use it to forcibly subjugate or cow the region into doing what he wanted, which is the same agenda that all the major factions other than the Underking and the King of Worms had in mind. The Dragon Break was, according to the most credible theorycrafting I've been able to find, more a result of the fact that in all of the endings other than the Underking's own, he rises up and strikes out to seize the Heart for himself, and in the struggle to do so, the Dragon Break occurred. (There's some additional theorizing that this event also allowed Talos to ascend to godhood, and effectively rewrote time so that it was as if he had always been there, which is why there were only eight Divines in Daggerfall but suddenly nine in Morrowind. But it's all a bit convoluted and muddy, and a little beside the point.)

(Disclaimer: I don’t hate this video, I’m just going over the finer details because I love this series to death and I felt like being a little tismy about it. If the title was “Uriel was the best Emperor in TES history”, I probably wouldn’t have commented for this long.)
So...ok, I’ll respond before and after the end of this video.
This part is before.
Now, he’s not so much a genius as he is wise. And a lot of his insight came from his many years in Jagar Tharn’s pocket-dimension of oblivion, in which Uriel had several visions of the future between the nightmares he suffered. Now, how clear those visions of the future were is unknown, but given that the events weren’t all avoided, since one of them was his death, I’d wager they weren’t the clearest visions.
He’s not stupid, but genius might not be the right word.
Ok, the video is wrapping up, and you’ve more argued that he’s fairly smart, dutiful, wise, a pretty stand up guy, and has some abilities of foresight.
Which I agree with...but that’s not...really...genius? Like...neloth is more the genius type. Genius is more of a singular trait, than it is a more general description. Neloth is clearly brilliant, but he’s also arrogant, selfish, dismissive, and often just plain rude.
Yeah, Uriel is smart, but...I don’t know, it just seems like a bit of a stretch to say he’s a genius.
And by the way, yes I’m being pedantic and nit picky, I’m well aware. TES is a really big thing for me, so I get very nit picky with stuff like this.

i would agree with this, he is definitely a wise emperor, and a favorite to many fans, but genius isn't the correct word. the Skaal video is similar i reckon, they are wise enough but not geniuses. i guess in a way, it is the classic Intelligence vs wisdom, a genius would likely be someone with vast intelligence, rather than wisdom

Probably knew it was an Inevitability. Probably saw past his death to help his son, and that Dagon was always going to happen. I think the only thing the man he didn't see was Bethesda's downfall.

The issue is that Uriel is better served as a god of wisdom not war, talos was ascended to help the Divines fight deadra I guess? idk anyways unless julianos passes on his mantel to Uriel he couldn't become a divine.

The reason for his foresight is usually explained by his dragon blood, though not an actual dragon born, instead of Thu'um, he can foresee events
