The only problem with this theory is that with this character's alive, the thread of prophecy is severed. Restore a saved game to restore the weave of fate, or persist in the doomed world you have created.
You know what would have been another great alternate start for Oblivion? And I thought of this just now thanks to that artwork of Kvatch in the video. If you started in Kvatch as a guard, a few days before the gate opens or maybe on the same day, especially if you were recently made a guard. Then as the entire city is attacked, you try to help defend the citizens, and eventually either seek refuge in the chapel or try to make your way to the count to protect him. In the end, you brave the Oblivion gate despite other guards saying you should stay behind and let them deal with the gate. You shut down the gate but the city is already in ruins, with so few of the guards and citizens left. With very little left of your home, you decide to make journey for discovering the truth of what caused the attack, and hope to stop further cities from being destroyed. This could play more into investigating oblivion gates and the mythic dawn in every city, being tailed or have attempted assassinations on you by sleeper agents, then eventually a blades member seeking you out.
I prefer both this and the videos theory than the plot actually in game, because although it's cool, I think either of these are more interesting. That and dealing with the forces of oblivion is annoying
@gopherasoda2492 yo lo if you get rid of the main antagonists the Mythic Dawn there Agents & Daedra there's no point too it's tile oblivion bruh!# Mannimarco&Umaril suck because there the worst Elder Scrolls Villains!# no gives a shit about them!
My question is: how many people did the Mythic Dawn have watching for the Emperor on the surface that they had to escort the guy through a dangerous sewer passage?
Yeah the top of the tower that you have to break into must have been the safest place. Maybe they caught him off guard on a walk or maybe he was afraid his own guards were compromised
Paranoia makes people pick stupid decisions, and the Emperor basically embracing his death probably didn't help Also, the Blades might be tough Cookies, but they were never really sharp to begin with, they did had their moments but.. The line that created Delphine only has so much mental potential
When I was playing the Dark Brotherhood quest in Skyrim (my first playthrough all those years ago), I wondered why Uriel didn't also have a double or two who would be sent on different routes to confuse his assassins, or something like that? Maybe you can say the guards and advisors were simply caught off guard, but it seems to me that a leader like Uriel Septim would have had worked contingency plans like this into their training or something. Especially after the whole Jagar Tharn betrayal.
Speaking of this what if scenario if Uriel Septim survived. It would be absolutely awesome if someone made a Oblivion mod based on Uriel Septim surviving. I would personally love that
It certainly could have! I still think the war would’ve happened, but with a different emperor (likely from the septim line still) maybe they would’ve have definitively won or lost the war!
Had the oblivion crisis not have occurred, then the Thalmor wouldn’t have gained control of the government in Summerset and the first Great War wouldn’t have taken place.
Sounds like a good theory. One thing that I wonder is, how the mythic dawn manages to have their agents everywhere. But this leads to a much bigger question about the actual game: What we see of the Mythic Dawn is mostly a small cult, that in no way should have the ability to make a successful, simultaneous strike against the Emperor and all his sons, that is strong enough that the Emperor decides, that he better leaves the safety of the White-Gold Tower. (As in: With magic it should be somewhat plausible to assassinate even the Emperor but only in a surprise attack fashion where Uriel never knows what hit him. Once he is aware of the attack and his Bodyguards are at his side, the Imperial palace should be able to field a much stronger defensive force then the mythic down could bring to attack them. No need to flee through the severs with an insufficient entourage of just 3 men) Now there could be an explanation for this. ... like I'd love it if you went to the Tower after exiting the sewers, there was still chaos there as priests and mages were distributing healing spells to the surviving palace guards as carts filled with massive numbers of dead Mythic dawn cultists and more guards are dragged away. And then later down the line in the story someone speculates, that even though the plan of the mythic dawn to kill the Emperor succeeded, at least they lost like 90% of their followers in this assault (And the spy network they used to bring invisibility-murderers near the heirs was also uncovered...)
It honestly stemmed from playing the tutorial again and standing idle as the emperor gets stabbed 😂 I always thought there was more we should’ve been able to do!
I think the storytelling decision made by Bethesda in this story in particular was explicitly chosen because it yanked out the rug from underneath those of us who played any of the games before. Uriel VII was our emperor throughout the mainline games: untangling the messes in many different lifetimes as heroes filled these roles; but THIS…this felt apocalyptic, because “who were we supposed to help now?” This definitely would have been a great alternative if Bethesda still wanted to keep using Uriel as a character. Then again, voiceacting from Patrick Stewart at the peak of the X-Man franchise probably wasn’t cheap either 😂😜
iirc Stewart was actually very impressed with the character primer they gave him for Uriel Septim, most detailed role he;d be given and it lasted a whole hour of recording time lol
@Raevnard especially considering how little "screen" time he had, I was shocked he agreed to voice the character at all. Guess he's not as big a diva as I always thought
Fuck yes dude! Never seen this topic before! Thank you so much man. You're becoming my favorite channel I'm subbed to, honestly. This game means so much to me. You're really doing it justice. It's hard for me to explain exactly what I mean but I just want to let you know that your efforts are very much appreciated. Keep up the high quality content bro!
Been years since I played the game. In my head it'd have played out something like that. The three escape the sewers, out to Wawnet Inn, where the Hero of Kvatch is sent out to buy two horses with the coin from the emperor (sure he like no other got something valuable on him) . Then they make for Weynon Priory to find Jauffre, get assaulted and it is where they decide to split up. Baurus and the emperor go to the Cloud Ruler Templ up north, the Hero of Kvatch alone embarks on his quest to find and secretly escort Martin.
Quite nice story thus far. Do you plan on doing a part two of sorts? Would be interesting i believe. But i have to say, the first thing I would have done is probably leave for Cloud ruler temple immidiately, as I suppose both Baurus and the emperor would know the location. And it's weird that Jauffre doesn't run to the countess of Chorrol to request an army of guards standing around Weynon Priory. And it would probably be quite unwise to even get Martin into the picture at all, if you think about what happened to the other publicly known heirs of the emperor. But don't get too annoyed ad those things, this story still inspires me grately!
0:14 When I clicked this video, I imagined that the 80 something emperor would beat the assassin to death with his bare hands. That would be pretty funny.
Dude this was awesome ❤ I hope in tandem to your other videos, you do more what if videos! They were so detailed. Would love to see what would happen if Lachene survived!
Very interesting video, FudgeMuppet also made their own video about Uriel VII surviving a few years ago, but it was much more detailed and went to the events of Skyrim in that scenario. Great work on this!
The Dragonfire stays lit so long as a Dragonborn emperor remains alive, although they have to light the Dragonfire themselves at the beginning of their reign
If the Emperor survived an entire Imperial Legion is above him in the Legion District. The Palace Guard, Blades, Imperial Watch and Legion Soldiers would have swarmed the sewers and killed all the Mythic Dawn. Dont forget this is the heart of the Empire.
>>> *Uriel Septim VII survives* "With this character's survival, the thread of prophecy is severed. Restore a saved game to restore the weave of fate, or persist in this doomed world you have created."
It would have masive impact on history. Think about it. Without Oblivion crisis thalmor would probably never come to power. Summerset would remain as a empire prowince. Means no Stormcrown Interregnum, no Great War, no splitting emperium and no Skyrim civil war
The day games can alter entire plots from the staple first quest in any game post launch and be cohesive and engaging is the day games finally make it! The starfield endings dont really count imo. But I can be convinced.
You can save Uriel by killing the assassin via some wall clipping. Congratulations! You've saved the Empire by keeping the emperor inside of a sewer forever! The Dragonfires remain lit! He won't leave, even if you agro him to the sewer exit. Though his voice will change to the default of that race.
I didn't watch the video to the end, so I don't know if you did that here But in case you didn't Will you make a continuation about the consequences of it in Skyrim?
If only MGM/Amazon doesn't still have that story line copyrighted (HE-MAN 87 live action plot). You know how blood thirsty studios and Hollyweird in general can be, sadly enough
He can survive using console commands / cheats Open the golden gate that the blades says its a trap using the unlock command bring up the console command by pressing (~) then click the door type unlock then press enter press the ~ key again to remove it. Open that door you'll find the assassin kill him. Uriel Septim will then survive but you broke the quest. If you are playing in a console such as Xbox 360 or PS3 try to glich through the door where the assassin is suppose to appear.

thank you. that quote form Morrowind was on my mind

if i ever get the modding skill necessary i will definitely make that
player.placeatme 00023F2E, just sayin
@aeternusthegoat that would be amazing, dude! Btw sorry I'm a month late.
As an Empire supporter, I appreciate this video.
Glory to the Septims o7
Glory be to the septims my friend
As a devout supporter of the Septim Dynasty. HAIL THE DRAGONBORN! HAIL THE SEPTIMS!
Would this make Skyrim a lot different if the Emperor lives. Especially the Dark Brotherhood questline.
It could still lead to having a weak emperor who --sacrifices himself-- gets assassinated.
You are a Fantastic story teller! I was right there the entire time just in audio alone

13:14 Uriel from Arena was a nice touch
I think the storytelling decision made by Bethesda in this story in particular was explicitly chosen because it yanked out the rug from underneath those of us who played any of the games before. I'm a simple man. I see Oblivion content? No click-bait ai generated images? I click like
Such a well together theory, great video man
Cool reinterpretation of the prologue, it's much more interesting and drawn out than vanilla.
FIRST!
Honestly I love your videos man, it's always a good day when you upload. Cant wait till you blow up 🎉
I really appreciate it! :) thank you for the continued support! :)
Dude this was awesome ❤
I hope in tandem to your other videos, you do more what if videos! They were so detailed. Would love to see what would happen if Lachene survived!
I enjoy all your videos. I love Oblivion. Keep it up!
I loved how this went! Earned a subcriber.
Very interesting video, FudgeMuppet also made their own video about Uriel VII surviving a few years ago, but it was much more detailed and went to the events of Skyrim in that scenario. Great work on this!
The biggest change would be that Jyggalag would not be a Daedric god because the Grey March only happens at the end of every era!
8/10
the prisoner and emperor never kiss
An interesting and well produced theory video. Loved it
If the emperor survives, that would make the fifth game for Uriel VII to survive.
Oh this is fun. Please do more alternate universe theories 😊
This is pure art and very relaxing
This honestly would be a great mod, like New Vegas: New California or what that New Mexican game is gonna be
Ooh nice story! And you did a great job narrating it!
Loved this! I”m a sucker for a good story and speculation so this was right up my alley.

this is 10 times better than what we got
I really love your videos. Thanks

Title:What if Uriel Septim survived
Video:He still fucking dies 😂
Do you have a Naravar involved with the oblivion crisis video by any chance? I’m new here.
If Uriel survived every citizen of the empire would get a free lusty argonian maid i'm sure
It would have masive impact on history. Think about it. Without Oblivion crisis thalmor would probably never come to power. Summerset would remain as a empire prowince. Means no Stormcrown Interregnum, no Great War, no splitting emperium and no Skyrim civil war

getting the "timeline is severed" thing from Morrowind in my head
I didn't watch the video to the end, so I don't know if you did that here
But in case you didn't
Will you make a continuation about the consequences of it in Skyrim?
Due to lack of oblivion crisis none of the events in skyrim would occur.
No talmor, no civil war no Alduin
If we didnt have a movie about elder scrolls (especially oblivion) i will personally meet Mankar Camoran to open oblivion gates on Earth.
If only MGM/Amazon doesn't still have that story line copyrighted (HE-MAN 87 live action plot). You know how blood thirsty studios and Hollyweird in general can be, sadly enough
I mean where characters from one planet/universe use portals to invade/conquer Earth
Wake up honey! A new bards ballad video dropped!
YOUR VIDEOS ARE MY SKOOMA
I really liked this one 🔥
Loving the narrative.
I like this content tho. I like thinking about the what ifs
Man, your channel grew faster than mine ever did lol, congratulations on the 4k subs, good upload.
I appreciate the support! :) and don’t fret! It’s all about the journey there!
Love your videos!
It still is my theory that this game is just another Star Trek episode and Q got Captain Picard in some very unfortunate trouble once again
So, you don’t think, that they would use the boat outside the Imperial City sewer?
So I will admit, I didn’t know there was a boat there until afterwards 😂 but for the sake of the video maybe I’ll say it doesn’t exist in the theory 😂
I love your Videos man❤
He can survive using console commands / cheats

If you are playing in a console such as Xbox 360 or PS3 try to glich through the door where the assassin is suppose to appear.
Would the Dragonborn in Skyrim be either a prince or The Emperor?
The emperor has to die for gates to open not when he takes the amulet off
True
But it's cooler to have the Oblivion crisis still happening, writers choice and shit
Imagine you start oblivion crisis because you decide to take off amulets to take a shower xD
our sweet juib wouldve lived
