That tach is designed for a 4 stroke. It’s designed to sense an ignition event every other TDC. Since it is on a 2 stroke, which ignites every TDC, it thinks the engine is running twice as fast as it really is. With the resistors you have set up, it may show correct at a certain speed, it will be exponentially incorrect as it speeds up.
should be fine as long as the tac is a linear based volt meter and it seams to be. what he did with the 2 resistor is half whatever voltage the circuit is putting out aka exactly what your talking about accept in the analog side instead of digital. Or to put it another way he did the equivalent of changing the range switch an old analog meter from 5 to 10v range. One thing I would recommend he glue thous resistors down for vibration ressons but other than that its fine.
I don't think he's honestly that bothered about it. I think it's more for cosmetics than anything else. It moves roughly with the engine speed that's all you want on a run-about two stroke right?
“desensitized to shrill, high-pitched, irritating sounds”, lol. Savage. I’ve only just recently found this channel, and I’m not sure what is more impressive: your ability to do great work while being entertaining - or - your ability to grow a sweet-ass mullet in just 9 months...
Well it's ABOUT TIME! Been watching and waiting for what seems like years. So glad to see it finished. Glad camera girl has stuck with you. She's a keeper. Looking forward to the next project. It's been a fun ride. Best wishes to you and yours. Thanks for sharing.
DUDE! WHERE ARE YOU? WE HAVEN'T GOTTEN A VIDEO IN MONTHS! WHAT ARE YOU DOING? WHERE IS THE RIDE VIDEO? COME BACK TO UA-cam! WE MISS YOUR VIDEOS! I'M GETTING TRAIL 90 FLASHBACKS!
I feel like I finally found someone that thinks the way I do. I am actually currently in the process of buying a 89 Yamaha Xs 1100 to fix up over the winter and resell in the spring.Love your channel.
we now need a video of Jens bike gets put back together. And my biggest question. What was that bike under the tarp Next to Jens bike With a FMF mufler and white side plasticks??
Im a big fan of the tone you bring to the videos. The love for the project and each other is apparent and I feel good watching your content. Thanks for the video!
DAMN!....I am hooked on your videos! You had me hooked from the start to the finish, and the process is absolutely amazing! What you and your wife have is very hard to find, and it really makes the videos. Thank you to you guys for letting me escape reality and watch you polish coal into diamonds. (Awesome fabricating as well!)
I am so happy that this bike is finished I watched your videos for a long time you motivated me to start my own Chanel thank you love your videos so much

This is such a great channel - I'd love some of your advice here and there with my struggles;) Especially electric part. I have given up on some power generator I have - but after watching this channel I will come back to it and pick up the task…. all best to you guys from Poland in Europe and if at any time you visit here - I would be more than happy to host you.
Great job. Love the banter between yourself and Jennifer. She is as fun as you are ;-). Nice to see an old KDX spruced up again and ready to take on the world.
I like how you value the opinions of your wife and son. Very informative and entertaining. Encourages me to try things I never would have before watching. Genius comes in many shapes and sizes.
You don't know what to do??! Take the best parts left over..and finish Jen's bike in a manner that allows her to ride safely! Strictly off-road of course(softer dirt), and I didn't want to say it...but I don't think she is with you for your sense of humor..those bad puns ruled that right out ;) Can't wait for the ride, and hope you're honest with any problems that arise, after all they can be fixed, but it does look nice.
Thanks for the great videos, are you planning on doing anymore because I really miss them. I guess it must take its toll being so time-consuming and it must be hard balancing family life and this type of work. Hope you come back with another project.
Awesome job man..i grew up with a kx 80 to a kx 125 then the kdx 200..watching you through the process of finding fixing and modifying your bike spending time doing what you love with who you love takes me back to a better time
Oh my God you guys are pretty freakin righteous...like anyone would fall in love with you two...I love to see you put smiles on your family's faces when you put them on 2 wheels
And I think it's gonna be a long long time 'till a haircut brings me round again to find I'm not the man they think I am at home, oh no no no I'm a bracket man, bracket man burning out his fuse up here alone
I'm starting to get worried about you guys it's been a while since we've seen a new video, I hope you guys are okay. I really enjoy your content hopefully we'll see more soon, you guys are awesome.
Can I have the old cracked headlight plastic. I want to zip tie it to a mountain bike that I plan on putting one of those cheap 2 stroke bicycle engines on. :) Oh and it's good to see you're back. I had been wondering where you were for a couple of months now.
Thank You Loader. I'm not sure what I learned from you, but I'm sure I'll have no us for it in the future but it was fun watching you pick on your wife and her getting the upper hand just like it should be. Keep having fun.
We rode KX's and CR's here in England when we were kids. 12 years old riding a KX 500 with a kickstart that could break your leg :D .... Those were the days, watching this video brought back memories as a child, good to know you saved this bike from graveyard
All of your viewers are patiently anticipating the return of your next video. Great stuff been watching all the old videos and you've come along way. I'm working on an old 71 Yamaha JTI and thinking if I wasn't restoring it that some of your tactics I may be able to use on a cafe build. Speaking of that a cafe racer would be a great video.

A single cylinder 4 stroke also fires every rotation. It’s known as a wasted spark. So not sure that’s the answer.
I don't think he's honestly that bothered about it. I think it's more for cosmetics than anything else. It moves roughly with the engine speed that's all you want on a run-about two stroke right?
I was a worried about that, but it reads good all the way down to idle, So it should be reasonable accurate. Thanks for the comment.
