    Dear Anna, according to my organic chemistry lessons, alkaline products do not get neutralized by water only, you need acidic solution. You can rinse it off in a bowl of water with a tiny amount of citric acid or vinegar. Otherwise, the remnants of remover will continue to dry up the skin and nail. Thanks for everything you do, I love your channel. I learned a lot.

    • @kaffhocker
      @kaffhocker Місяць тому +3

      Actually that's what I do. I use the tiniest amount of BHA from my face products on the nails after rinsing with water.

      This is something I've wondered for a super long time, my nails are astonishingly weak and thin and any cuticle remover that does something makes my layers delaminate. Noone really talks about it though, so I'm wondering if neutralizing is something I need to do.
      If I were to try to do this, how strong of an acid mixture are we looking for?

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  16 днів тому +2

      depends on the amount. 1 drop of Blue Cross can be neutralised by rinsing hands. 1 oz of blue Cross will not be neutralised with 1 drop of water.
      According to cosmetic chemists these removers can be just washed off or neutrelised with water.

    • @kaffhocker

      @@TheSalonLife As always, the amount makes the poison.

    • @amliak
      @amliak 15 днів тому

      @@kaffhocker Anna uses Blue Cross remover which is quite liquidy. My cuticle remover has thicker viscous consistency that seems harder just to rinse off. firstIy, I usually rinse my fingers under running water. Then I rinse them in a prepared cereal bowl of water with about a quarter of a teaspoon of citric acid crystals. And lastly, I rinse them again under running water. You can probably substitute citric acid with a couple of teaspoons of white vinegar. I hope this will help you to have less damaging effect on your nails from using cuticle remover. Cheers

    I've only been doing a good job on my nails since I found you about 4 months ago. Before that I was a "cuticle" butcher and my nippers were my favorite addiction. Since I've been collecting some tools I've noticed that the majority of them are suuuper sharp and for someone like me, who doesn't have the best co-ordination -- especially with my non dominant hand -- I can easily abrade my nail plate. After some trial and error my favorite pushies are orange sticks, the Tweezerman with the rounded and squared ends (it glides nicely and doesn't scratch), and these very gentle rubber tipped ones I found for cheap on Amazon.
    Anyway, I've been doing everything you've taught us about basic upkeep: using nail oil every time I wash my hands (tbh I've swapped my nipper addiction for an oil addiction 🤣), pushing nail folds back daily, and applying a cuticle dissolving solution each week. Now I realize that I don't need a sharp tool -- the gentle Tweezerman and the orange sticks are perfectly effective.
    THANK YOU for all that you do! You deserve to be the highest paid manicurist on the planet! 😘

    I really like Manucurist cuticle remover. It has a nice gel dropper so it can be applied exactly on the nail plate on the cuticle. I am looking forward to trying the green nail oil when it arrives since I have heard it also works great. I have my own nail tools so I haven’t tried the nail pusher but so far I love all Manucurist products, especially the Active polishes.

    I like the product and the tool. I have one just like it and have always had tons of cuticle to remove the was adhered very hard to the nail. I’ve switched to a new method and don’t have the excess cuticle anymore. So I appreciated the sharp tool. However, I was a licensed nail tech for half my working career and used to using an actual cuticle knife from Germany. I also liked the thickness of the gel softener. For anyone interested, my new routine is applying Vaseline to the nail and all the way around on the skin/cuticle/nail fold and put on cotton gloves and sleep with it on. In the am the first thing I do is gently push back the Nail fold and remove any cuticle. At first I had cuticle to remove every day and after a short time now go several days just pushing back nothing to remove. The Vaseline has been a great help to my nails as well as softening the cuticle. I did try the kerasal but in my own opinion, it soaked in too much. The Vaseline is mostly absorbed but there is still a small amount left in the morning so the cuticle is very soft. For me, this was better, but everyone is different. Anna is very highly trained and I agree with all her recommendations.

    I havent tried the manucurist pushy tool but I use their cuticle remover with a tweezerman pushy and I really like the results. The cuticle remover is probably my favourite because it’s really easy to use and has the best packaging with the dropper compared with others I’ve tried. I also love that it’s in a small glass bottle and it’s roughly nail polish sized because it means that it’s both easy to travel with if I need to do my nails when I’m away from home and it also looks neat next to my other nail polishes and I don’t have to worry about hiding a huge ugly bottle.

    Hi Anna! sorry if I message again, not sure where my provious comment is! I need a pushy, is the mini one by Tweezerman (in the nail rescue kit) as good as the big one? Not sure if the length of the tool would make any difference? Planning to use it for mani, pedi, on me and boyfriend too. Would love to hear what you think! I was considering the travel kit as I don't have one of those and can be handy for carrying around, but only if the pushy is as good as the regular one as it's the thing I need the most.

    Hi Anna, I am a seriously bad biter, literally can’t bite down to the skin and I eat the bitter nail biter products. They are totally unsightly and I have to use stick on nails for work. I cannot stop. Could you give me any advice?

    • @sk8690
      @sk8690 23 дні тому +1

      I know I’m not Anna, but I have the same issue! After maybe 35 years of doing exactly this, the ONLY thing that works is keeping an orange stick, very sharp/good pincer clippers (do you know what I mean?), and a nail file to hand, together with some kind of oil and hand creams. I know. Crazy. Even with the worst looking disappearing nails, I started dabbing on nail oil, pushing back the base of the nail gently, and filing etc… every.single.time.I want to chew. Sounds very hard work, but honestly, rubbing my nails with a tiny bit of oil or hand cream, or filing a little bit, or clipping away a tiny tiny bit of skin that’s sticking out and I just want to chew it off!! Obviously I can’t start clipping off skin in front of co-workers, but if it’s driving me crazy enough, I’ll do it under the desk. Otherwise, all the cream, files etc can be used under the desk, or in the restroom! It doesn’t immediately give you long nails, but the difference after a couple of days was incredible.
      Good luck.
