    This is incredible, so helpful and educational ! There are no natural nail care salons in my area, they are all owned by Vietnamese or Chinese people and they are “experts” in gel, shilac, tips, and other fake long-lasting, Frankenstein-approve products 😅.. I can’t even breathe in those salons, so I can imagine how bad it is for your nails! I refuse to go and want to care for my natural nails myself. Thank you for teaching me how, it’s not very difficult or time consuming, I just need the right tools. I so appreciate your time and effort! ❤😊🎉

    Thank you so much for showing and explaining all of this, watching I just realized, that I never really was shown how to care for my nails. Going over the hard skin with a file is new to me and I will start that! What really helped my fingertips that always had been getting deep cuts in the wintertime was a hand- and nailcream I started cooking for myself, containing Baobab- and Jojobaoil, Sheabutter, Vit. B12, D-Panthenol and Pomgranate-extract.

    Very nice! I am sure your client is very pleased! Thank you for talking about the tools you use as well! I love quality over quantity, so I have ordered the file in Fine, because I prefer natural nails. I don't understand the sandpaper files, they only damage the nail in my opinion.

    I just saw this video and I have to say that I really like your approach to taking care of the natural nails. Mine are very soft and thin and I had to stop going to the salons because they were always too rough on my nails and making them actually even thinner than they already are. You have gained yourself a new subscriber and I'll be going now to check out your other videos, especially the ones on self care.

    I literally had a little infection on my thumb that lasted for months because I apparently was too damaging and aggressive on my skin and as soon as I did your routine it started to heal and close up. My nails look healthy, pretty and they're growing strong. I'll buy the Jojoba oil and start to use that daily as well and going to get a glass cuticle remover as well because I only have wooden and plastic ones that aren't as precise as yours. I really wanted to thank you for sharing your knowledge and being such a helpful nailtech that didn't gatekeep and instead explained everything so simple and patient.

    Never thought I would be the type to relax with watching manicures, lol. Results are amazing!
    I am currently trying to figure out the best nail shape for me. My skin and nails are in fairly good condition, but my nails tend to be narrower at the bottom, and then it widens towards the tip. They are also tending towards more 'wide' shape, with a wide area of skin next to the nail, which I find very unflattering on myself.
    Is there a place I can send a picture of them to get advice on it? :)

    Wow! I got the file and it is definitely a game changer!! Love it! I would like to know is the care for the fingers same for toes? The pinky toes is such a challenge for me since the healthy living skin overhangs on top of my nail so much. Any recommendations you have to get to the cuticle safely would be greatly appreciated! i use ella + mila base coat/nail hardener (the product packaging indicates that it's both) and i have peeling pretty bad after some badly removed press ons. can you talk about this brand too?
    p.s. i mentioned it on this video because i don't know if it's more like a polish than a nail hardener or strengthener (btw please correct me if it's a misnomer and there's no difference between a hardener and strengthener as far as results are concerned for peeling nails)

    💕💕💕my cuticles look very healthy not dry like they were

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  Рік тому +1

      Hi Jeanette, I think what you are saying is that the skin around your nails looks very healthy and not dry like it was.
      As I explained in the video the cuticle is removed from the nail during a manicure. The living skin which is called (Proximal Nail Fold) or simply "skin around the nails" is then taken care of with creams and oils.
      Cuticle can't be healthy. It's a bunch of dead skin cells that fell of the bottom part of the skin fold (that thin area that produces cuticle tissue is called eponychium).
      So there are 2 things around the nail:
      Living skin (Proximal nail fold and lateral nail folds) and cuticle (dead skin cells that are sitting on the nail plate)
      It's very important to be able to tell the difference between these 2.

    Love love your video's! 😍 But can you tell me why you didn't apply a base coat or a bonder before polishing? Another question I have is what do you when a client comes in & what's shellac but has a finger with a split nail down the side of the nail? Like from edge of nail down to almost the cuticle? Help!! 😵

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  Рік тому

      Hi Gail! This is a product that it’s designed to be used as 1-2 coats with no base and top.
      Shellac is supposed to be used on normal, healthy nails so any splits in natural nails would be contraindication.

      After a shower just clean under the nails with soft soapy brush (like a soft toothbrush). Try not to poke under the nails with sharp tools

    Love your teaching. So many are using alcohol gel to disinfect hands when out. Should we be putting oil or a bit of cream on also to counteract the dryness. Oil seems a bit difficult to carry. 💕

      I just purchased a set of 10 little roller ball bottles with a key chain loop on Amazon for $9. I plan to carry jojoba oil in them for when I'm out. I don't typically carry a handbag, but if you do, it's totally worth it. Especially if you're using alcohol on your hands consistently.

      There are many excellent brands, it has less to do with quality of the polish and more to do with preference and the quality of the brush.

    Hello, thank you for your videos, they are great! I haven't done anything on my nails ever, and now, I'm 44, I might start to put on some polish. I see here that you only use the polish and not a base coat. I was told it is better to use first the base and then the polish. What would you recommend?

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  Рік тому +2

      Hello Alejandra. Dior Nail Glow is a polish that is designed to be used in 1-2 coats. This polish bonds well without a base coat.
      Base coat has 2 functions.
      1. To bond to the nail and
      2. prevent staining from pigments (sort of)
      This polish bonds very well and it doesn't have any pigments to really worry about.
      Base coat does not "protect" the nail plate.

      That is a good idea for a video! You do have to correct clients. Don't be afraid to ask for them to sit straight or to hold their hand certain way. I will make a video about it :)

    Are you tilting the nail file back towards you slightly? Or is that just an illusion caused by the camera and the file is actually straight and parallel to the nail? I know angles are so important. Thank you!

    I've been really prone to dry and thickened skin around the nails for quite some time and am wondering if you would recommend a cream with just urea or if I could use one with both urea and lactic acid?

    💕💕💕is it okay to use your thumb nail to push your cuticles back gently after applying oil massaging each fingers daily

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  Рік тому +1

      Hi Jeanette. I recommend using a clean tool to push back the living skin (Proximal Nail Fold). Using nails is not the safest because nails can harbor a lot of bacteria and also it can lead to developing unhealthy habits like picking and prying with your nails.
