How about downloading the video, putting it into Sony Vegas, setting it to as fast as you can go, rendering it, then repeating the process over and over until the video becomes less than a second?
Or you can skip to the end credits almost immediately by clicking the end of the play bar. But if you're looking for a non-glitch run then x2 speed is probably your best bet.
You can download the video and put it at an even faster speed in your editing program (e.g. 64x speed in movie maker), but is that even the same video?
Bad example. Sonic Labyrinth's whole shtick is that Sonic can't go fast because his shoes were taken away and replaced with shoes that made him slower.
I can't believe the OOT any% has gotten *even more buckwild* since this video. At this point it's less than 7 minutes and consists of tricking the game into reading the *save file name* as code to warp you directly to the credits. They truly have the power of god and anime on their side.
10:08 It's either "a platformer MADE BY sadists" or "a platformer for masochists", but not one FOR sadists. A sadist is somebody who enjoys seeing other people suffer, a masochist is somebody who enjoys suffering (grossly oversimplified, of course). If Meatboy was designed FOR sadists it would consist of watching other people fail, not fail yourself.
I love speedrunning, it is some of the most incredible things you can ever see. I'd never do it but I'm in awe at what these people can do. I'm a take my time with a game kind of guy but it is still awesome to see.
I still love learning more tactics to 100% sunshine (my favorite childhood game) and help share my own knowledge and ease the pain it has caused others. As for Spyro enter the dragonfly I beat and posted that in one video (my first time playing a train wreck, buggy game. probably closest I’ll get to sonic 06 which I would like to experience its true crappy glory one day) But I appreciate speed running, maybe learn a few of the simpler tricks and forget the rest like a out of bounds sequence break.
Some of my favorite speedruns ever came out of The Elder Scrolls games - media that typically takes thousands of hours for a person to beat, but for some people, it can be accomplished in under forty minutes. It's absolutely amazing.
Top 5 worst design choices made in videogames. Just design choices that don't make any sense and do little to no good to the game at all, that people sat down and thought "yep. This is a great idea" and nobody questioned it during the game's development.
The End is Nigh is going to be great for speedrunning. Like Super Meat Boy, it is a tough platformer that's entirely skill based, but it also lends itself to some really great categories. Any% could be a nice, short, fun speedrun, but 100% including all achievements on all cartridges would be an absolute masterpiece to watch.
Wario Land 3. It technically counts because some of the treasures you get are powerups that let you access new locations within levels. It's also my favourite game of all time, so there's that.
Added Bonus for Gen-1 Pokemon games: You can program data into an original gameboy's RAM that lets you do weird things to other games, such as Credit Warping Super Mario Land2 within a few seconds by writing data into its RAM that stays there when you swap the carts.
HerebyOrdinary Rule34 is a scary place. There's no filter or anything, you just searcb for something and it throws a list of pictures inorder from newest to oldest. You don't get "best" or something like that, so you can end up with amazing stuff or the scariest shit ever.
Castlevania: Circle of the Moon can be beaten in, like, 4 minutes. There's a glitch that allows you to rocket up through the ceiling and directly into the final boss's room basically right from the beginning of the game. Start game, beat a few enemies to get 2 cards, do the "card glitch" to use a summon that rocket you upward, use the card glitch again to be able to constantly hit for 9999, wait about a minute for the 20+ level ups to pass by, attack second boss phase with 9999 damage, win.
Ocarina of Time is a fun one. Just the whole thing with being able to skip from the Deku Tree to the end of the game. That someone figured that out. I can't remember what video I watched explaining how people gradually uncovered those glitches, but it was fascinating. Especially considering how I obsessed over that game, things like the Light Temple and Triforce and such.
My favorite franchise for speedruns (which wasn't mentioned) is DKC. Outside of games that directly challenge you with a speed task (Shantae, Metroid, Sonic to an extent, you get the idea), this is the only series I've sat down and attempted something like this in... AND I LOVED IT! To so brutally DOMINATE games that were too much for 6 year old me to even BEAT let alone COMPLETE...
No dark souls or mega man x (any of e X games really)? That's surprising. Although I did see the whole parry walking glitch in the counting down, nice touch. I would also mention speedrunning the first Halo game, because some of the tricks are epic, such as using 6 grenades all at once while picking up an over shield to create a 6x more powerful jump to exit the silent cartographer in a couple seconds. But seriously anybody reading this also check out mega man X games and dark souls games in speedrunning, they are EPIC. I especially recommend the Mega Man X2 race from AGDQ 2017, it was an amazing race between four runners.
The designer of Super Meat Boy and The Binding of Isaac came out with another game recently, called The End is Nigh. It's sorta like a spiritual successor to Super Meat Boy (but with a lot of key gameplay differences) and I've been having a lot of fun with it. I'm excited to see what speedruns of that game are going to look like!
This was brilliant to watch, dont think ive heard anyone ever summerise gen1 pokemon speedruns so well As for what you said at the end, it comes down to personal preference. I personally think those who claim that using glitches is cheating because it litterally isnt you're using something that it iin the game in a way that was no intended.
"GOING . . . TOO . . . FAAAAST . . . I THINK WE'RE . . . BREAKING . . . THE FABRIC OF REALITY!" "Dave, it's just a speedrun. Chill." "I CAN SEE THE CODEX OF THE COSMOS!" "Dave, that's a graphical glitch."
Environmental station alpha was a game made for beginner speedrunners. The enemy placement is perfect for sequence breaks, there's a ton of variety in the routes etc. Oh, and Hollow knight.
Just felt like mentioning I've seen and was taught how to beat Link to the Past in ludicrous amounts of time. Like, right in Hyrule Castle under certain conditions you can run right through a certain wall and literally walk into the credits room.
Year ago, I saw a joke speedrun that aimed to watch the whole Super Mario Bros. cartoon in about 20 minutes. They said it's the fastest speed at which anybody can watch that the viewer can also still understand what's going on in each episode.
I briefly mentioned it on Twitter, but take a look at the NES game Gimmick for a really interesting speed run. It's all about precise movement and abusing unintentional movement abilities.
Speedruns that use glitches and exploits are fun to watch and of course, they take skill. There are glitches that are really hard to pull off and when you can, they lead to some cool speedruns. But I think I personally enjoy more the non-glitches speedruns. Watching someone breeze through a game, using nothing but the game's mechanics and memorization is really impressive!
I have a game that I absolutely love speedrunning and is so well built for it but the problem is that it's a game I bring up a lot. It's one of the rarer games too. But I don't keep track of how many times I mention it and I don't want to be known as "that guy that keeps bringing "x" game up whenever he can". Yes I wish more people would know about it and play it but I don't know how much mentions of it will annoy people.
I saw one guy do the first game at AGDQ 2016. I was absolutely mystified because there I was, thinking I'm totally awesome, only for him to come in and know enough about the game to know how to manipulate platform spawn patterns for optimal use and the like.
Every time I see you having made a new BotW video, I wonder how many there's going to be by the time you're done. It's in the mid 60s now and I'm really looking forward to getting the game so I can play it.
I think Majora's Mask and Kirby and the Amazing Mirror are two incredible games for speedrunning. -I prefer MM over OoT in speedrunning 'cause it really forces you to get through the four temples. Watching people deciding how to use each one of the three days is cool for me. - Kirby Amazing Mirror is just amazing. There are a lot of ways, and portals, and abilities... It's like a metroidvania game, but with some Kirby style. Consider them for another video like this!
I found a glitch in Sonic 06 on Rouge's forest level. I can do it pretty consistently now. I just do a bunch of short jumps on a raised platform after the first bounce Lilly pad and I launch to the top of the stage. From there, you can glide to the goal ring. The time bonus alone gives me an S rank.
Super Monkey Ball is mental in a speedrun. It's so skillful. Although some levels are actually easier the fast way! I've not seen a Skyrim or Portal run before but your vid made me want to check them out. They look pretty decent!
Here's a challenge, as soon as you see number 6 search for a Spelunky speedrun and watch the entire thing before the segment in this video is completed.
The funny thing is that speedrunning a game means knowing the game in and out to an extent that far exceeds casual play. I needed hundreds of hours to properly speedrun Resident Evil 3: Nemesis in under 50 Minutes. Or in 55 Minutes without being hit. Or in 44 Minutes with infinite ammo etc. You have to love a game to speedrun it. Speedrunning is a thing of passion and perfectionism.
A Link To The Past for both the Snes en GBA are pretty broken when it comes to speedruns, even the alternative ending for ALTTP GBA, which breaks an entire save file to the point of altering the Link on the save file on the file select screen.
I'd say Sonic Unleashed is one of the best games to speedrun, both because of the Mspeed glitch that allows you to pass 5 minute stages in under 30 seconds, and the "werehog spin kick through the wall" glitch
Fun fact: You can speed run this video in under 10 minutes by setting the speed to x2.
TheAlmightyPiplup those are some rookie numbers.
Have you never heard of the 'Drag the cirkel to the end of the video' glitch?
How about downloading the video, putting it into Sony Vegas, setting it to as fast as you can go, rendering it, then repeating the process over and over until the video becomes less than a second?
TheAlmightyPiplup EyEyEy!
No cheatcodes!
"You can't speedrun a movie"
*Puts movie at x4 speed*
WATCH ME BOI
KingBotan *Doesn't watch film, holds wr for ever*
LoTR (the first one) at 4x speed at least feels like an actual movie.
The Bee Movie, but it's sped up to be 1 second long
frame advance on the last frame of the movie saves 1 frame you casul. git gud.
Disqualified for speed hax
Majora's Mask perfect runs are a thing of beauty. Beating the game without a single reset? That's fucking majestic.
Plus, it's the best Zelda game. Now someone fight me.
WIND WAKER HELLO?
ActionmanFX Too much water, not enough childhood nightmare inducing moon
jk its mine too
+netherrealmshero no reason to fight you....if you said Wind Waker though, oh boy...
Sadly this video isn,t professional speed run.
You could easly have saved time at 2, 4 and 5
Well, on 4 it would ruin the whole run, but I agree with 2 and 5. Take the risks, man.
He lost the run to RNG, dude
Y'all those saves are too hard
super konijn98 he could've saved time by not saving the animals.
Mr. Sizzle rookie mistake
The shopkeeper at #6 ain't got shit on Kecleon from the Pokemon Mystery dungeon
Delta kai09 honestly I think the shopkeeper OWNS a kecleon. Or became one after getting sent to the pokemon world himself
So you never played spelunky ha? 😂
I would love to see someone play a glitchless run of Sonic 06. If they die to a glitch, or encounter a glitch, they have to reset.
Cthulhu Because Why Not Would they ever finish?
Themasked Man54 no, no they would not.
I believe that's possible.
I once had a friend who claimed he never encountered a glitch in Sonic '06. He loved the game, and I'm pretty sure he lied just to defend it.
That's suicide
Top 5 Videogame series that changed in Direction. (Like how Paper Mario went from being an RPG to whatever the hell it is now)
The first Dynasty Warriors was an arcade fighter.
He already did that.
Oh right, that was like 2 months ago.
You silly man.
It's okay, everyone makes mistakes.
5:02 'Zipping trough Sonic levels'
Shows footage of Sonic boom rise of lyric
Gotta go moderately paced.
+Kingdom080500 Underrated comment
rise of lyric is a terrible game but is a super broken speedrun.
"Sonic can go faster than any other Video Game Character"
Hm, I think Sonic Labyrinth footage would be perfect for this
Bad example. Sonic Labyrinth's whole shtick is that Sonic can't go fast because his shoes were taken away and replaced with shoes that made him slower.
To keep with the speedrunner theme, I watched this whole video at double speed.
Was not the best video for speedwatching.
Narus Ferree To quote the famous words RabbidLuigi:
"You can't speedrun movies."
+Narus Ferree XD
and the music is from a game called speedrunners :DDD
Why not?
I understood it just fine
I can't believe the OOT any% has gotten *even more buckwild* since this video. At this point it's less than 7 minutes and consists of tricking the game into reading the *save file name* as code to warp you directly to the credits. They truly have the power of god and anime on their side.
Top 5 Bad Games that deserves a Remake.
Sonic 06
Saints row 3
Destiny 1. This time, let them actually put the story IN the game instead of having to look it up on a website.
wariodude128 Lol, never thought of that. Actually, I want what's in the concept art for the game.
Devil May Cry 2?

RaketenKuhGewehr Maybe they enjoy the suffering of Meat Boy.
Fair point I guess.
You must be tons of fun at parties.
I love speedrunning, it is some of the most incredible things you can ever see. I'd never do it but I'm in awe at what these people can do. I'm a take my time with a game kind of guy but it is still awesome to see.

Thanks I was looking for something to watch
The best part of every Sunday is a Rabbidluigi video
Your video choices are getting more and more interesting without becoming click-bait. Kudos!
I liked how the background music for the numbers was from the game speedrunners
I need to watch more speedruns. I wasn't aware of most of these approaches, and they all sound like brilliant madness.
"Do we even EXIST?" woah, slow down Will, your videos make me question my existence enough, I don't need any more, thank you.
I love the speedrunners music you use in the video. It's perfect.
I still love learning more tactics to 100% sunshine (my favorite childhood game) and help share my own knowledge and ease the pain it has caused others.
As for Spyro enter the dragonfly I beat and posted that in one video (my first time playing a train wreck, buggy game. probably closest I’ll get to sonic 06 which I would like to experience its true crappy glory one day)

The barrel in Sonic 3
i'd like to give a shout out to Axiom Verge for it being the spiritual successor to super metroid and even having a speedrun mode
For a video about speed running. This video is pretty long...
The inclusion of The MGS4 soundtrack is always wonderful.
I don't know why but i want a gif of that god damn beautiful transition

top 5 metroidvania games
LegendaryAWESOME
Ori and the Blind Forest or Metroid Fusion. I really don't like Super Metroid.
Wario Land 3. It technically counts because some of the treasures you get are powerups that let you access new locations within levels. It's also my favourite game of all time, so there's that.
LegendaryAWESOME Kirby and the Amazing Mirror
LegendaryAWESOME How about strider 2014 its one of my favorites
jrpludacrous agreed
for me re4 and dragons dogma are fun to speedrun. especially dragons dogma which has a speedrun mode.
If you mean Resident Evil 4 then hell ya, the flash grenade strats to sneak past zombies are hella interesting.
Watching this felt like a good way to kick off my 35th birthday. Thanks for proving me right. :D
so glad u mentioned OOT3D! its one of my favorite games to speedrun
thank you for showing the clip of admiral bahroo obliterating a boss at that exact spot
worked too well
It's the best feeling to find a channel you forgot about for years

"If you watch the first 5 minutes of a Portal speedrun, things seem fairly normal"
Bro, 5 minutes of a Portal speedrun is the whole speedrun.
Wait, did you just imply that speedrunners should get to see Samus naked as a reward of their time ?
Nah man..He's just saying...
Ganonbros Are you implying that's bad?
rule 34
+Captain Obvious Nah. Too much weird shit for that. I guarantee you I'd come across Samus getting it on with a Metroid or worse... *shudders*

loved the speed runners music in the intro ;)
That looked like a bottle of orange juice, Rabbid. Are you lying to me?

"Fantastic."
Top five games to blind run
Is that games to go through without knowing anything or games to play blindfolded?
wariodude128 blindfold
Dark Souls.
Just... Dark Souls.
Thank you so much for including Ocarina of Time 3D. It was the first speedrun I watched, and was the perfect introduction to the community.
Thanks for doing a video on this! I am a huge fan of speedrunning and I am a speed runner myself
Love ya Rabbid Keep up the good work!
Love the Speedrunners theme in the background xD
Good work on the video,I found it really interesting!
"Even without upsetting the laws of physics and Neil DeGrasse Tyson..." nearly choked on a cheeto with that one, good stuff Rabbs
How about the opposite topic? Worst games for speedrunning? I've heard of games that take over 24 hours!
Pokemon Stadium 100% is hype tho
329link there has been a speedrun that was over 100 hours long
329link long doesnt mean bad
I've heard of people doing 100% completion speed runs of Breath of the Wild.
329link There's a yu gi oh game some people have made a 100% run of, and that has taken them over 110 hours as the world record stands.
Castlevania: Circle of the Moon can be beaten in, like, 4 minutes. There's a glitch that allows you to rocket up through the ceiling and directly into the final boss's room basically right from the beginning of the game. Yes I am speed running this vid. 2x

I feel so appreciated he mentioned my twitter suggestion
Megaman speed runs are a thing of beauty.
I haven't made it past the intro and I'm gonna guess the #1 is Super Metroid. Also, nice video.
AM2R is a better speedrunning game. Flows much better.
Sacha Scharovsky my money was on Super Mario 64 actually. Those are the only speedruns I've ever watched so that might be why.
I disagree that AM2R is a better speed game than Super Metroid, but it is still way better than, say, Fusion. I would put Axiom Verge above AM2R.
Props to RabbidLuigi using the SpeedRunners music at the beginning of the video

May be a but underrated but speed running freedom planet is to cool, and it's fun to speed run and there are tricks that help you propel across stages
Every time I see you having made a new BotW video, I wonder how many there's going to be by the time you're done. It's in the mid 60s now and I'm really looking forward to getting the game so I can play it.
I adore super money ball. It’s crazy and chaotic and so much fun, but you do eventually get good at it with enough practice.
Fun fact: That music is from the ost of the game called *Speedrunners* x)
nice speedrunners music
i haven't played online
i'm not very good at it lol
Just play time trial a lot.
I think Majora's Mask and Kirby and the Amazing Mirror are two incredible games for speedrunning.

Here's a challenge, as soon as you see number 6 search for a Spelunky speedrun and watch the entire thing before the segment in this video is completed.
the background music that plays at 9:49 is from super mario 64, the clock level
Legend has it that when you are blessed by a RabbidLuigi countdown you will appear in a video game.
I've watched this video a few dozen times now and the end always cracks me up >_< "are WE even real?" Lol
Was kinda hoping to see the OG Ratchet and Clank trilogy on here, there's so much flashy technical movement to those speedruns.
Was kind of hoping to see Donkey Kong 64 on this list.
I wasn't expecting it to be on the list, but somehow borderlands 2 has a dedicated speed running community
You guys should see tool assisted runs of the metroid series, its insane to watch, even though its not humanly possible.
A Link To The Past for both the Snes en GBA are pretty broken when it comes to speedruns, even the alternative ending for ALTTP GBA, which breaks an entire save file to the point of altering the Link on the save file on the file select screen.
I've waited on this video for years. Can't believe that none of the ratchet and clank games was on this list.
I'd say Sonic Unleashed is one of the best games to speedrun, both because of the Mspeed glitch that allows you to pass 5 minute stages in under 30 seconds, and the "werehog spin kick through the wall" glitch
