Top Ten Boss Fights That You Can't Lose - rabbidluigi

- I'd really like the next Soulsborne game to have a boss like the ones featured here. That series has gotten so much done with difficult boss fights that gradually introduce new mechanics but I want to face a boss who dies instantly. That'd be some funny shit.

Idk what you're talking about, bowser's suit is dapper af
It's his most effective tactic at stopping me yet.
I remember getting so nervous when I was about to fight Bob the Goldfish the first time, and then laughing my head off after seeing Jim eat him.
TheCartoonGamer8000 the joke is fish eat worms so to have a worm eat a fish is hilarious.
cucktoon gaymer
Dinosaur planet was the first StarFox game I ever played, so I remember thinking how bizarre and random the giant space monkey bad guy was.
To be fair, Crisis Core is a prequel, so it makes sense for Sephiroth to be back in that.
Though yeah, the Remnants of Sephiroth thing in Advent Children was, in hindsight, kinda dumb. At least the ending fight in it was cool.
While its plot was kinda stupid, the fights and everything else was on point.
Or not. Or maybe. Whatever.
I just really like that movie.
Tbh I was expecting Yu Yevon to be on this list instead.
Axl EXE Well, you technically can lose to Yu Yevon if you cast a petrification spell on your entire party.
From what I've heard you can technically lose to Bowser if you don't jump and purposely avoid any coins.
Advent Children and Michel Bay's first Transformers movies are the types of films you can enjoy if you don't think too hard of it. The difference between Square Enix and Michel Bay, is that Square stopped at ONE.
Really fun countdown here. From a goldfish to a one-winged angel, it's a varied list of bosses. It's going to be interesting to see how that VII remake handles that last fight.
Let me guess, the same thing.
One HP.
While I'm here, I may as well throw in a countdown suggestion: Top 5/10 Blind Bosses. Basically, bosses that leave the biggest impact on a blind playthrough, when you know next to nothing about said boss, and the amount of surprise that comes from discovering what the boss holds.
You could also expand this topic to entire games, if you wanted to broaden the scope.
“Strike down Sephiroth once and for all...”
I couldn’t help but laugh, given how he’s had over half a dozen appearances since the original FFVII.
I'm sure they were just clones or something.
Actually it is more complicated than that. There isn't an over abundance of clones those 3 were among the last, Sephiroth's will and consciousness cannot be purified and absorbed by the life stream, which is why he will never be a memory, but Sephiroth himself is physically dead for sure, Even the clones completed aren't truly him. That's why in Advent Children Aerith use's healing rain to purge the remaining Jenova cells from the planet, because Sephiroth had been using the life stream to infect the word with them. In the end Sephiroth has become the evil of the world and will never truly die but should no longer pose a threat due to the erasure of Jenova's cells. At least until he finds a new means to play. He differs from the others because he actually is dead, having the will to not lose yourself after death is pretty amazing, Sigma comes close to being like him but even then Sigma ha away been jut a program in a robot body so its expected, Sephiroth differs through meaning.
Reous Then, hundreds of years after, humanity has left the planet, only a few remain, and repudiate technology, in the mean time he reincarnated in a tree, thus Exdeath was born! At least he gained some personality.
Kappakappa duk, No they won't, 1.) not once in FFVIII did they say all clones were dead. In advent children they made a point to say those guy were among the last clones left and how they thought they had all pretty much died in FFVII. 2.) It makes sense that Cloud and those 3 are close to the last , since FFVII makes a point in game to mention through Hojo that most of them had died trying to reach Sephiroth as well, even before Advent children. 3.) FFVII hasn't been known to just change things, the story has been pretty untouched for a long time, so why would they randomly change something? "Plot convenience" makes no sense to throw around as a point seeing as the story is already told and they haven't even tried to change it. Lastly, I have no idea what point you are trying to make by mentioning Cloud and his past, it had nothing to do with what I said.
alfio bonanno, I don't think that canon lol.
Finally I remembered a countdown idea.
Optional bosses.
truepixartronphan I love that idea! Personally, I would value the especially powerful and notable ones like KH Sephiroth and any of the Velvet Room attendants, ones where the game throws someone you already know to be god tier in your face before asking you to take them down.
*+Ise no Kami* And on that note Lucifer from Devil Survivor makes an appearance.
Yukari from Touhou 7 is a massive pain in the butthole! Not just her, the whole level she is in! There are no checkpoints the whole way, even if you get to the boss! For this damn boss, she has 11 phases, barely an easy attack, 2 endurance attacks, no continues, and few lives given to you!
Most of the Psychopaths from Dead Rising
The smokey prog from pikmin 1, scariest thing in pikmin until that god damn wraith.
Is Will growing out his beard for a certain countdown that may be coming? I’m on to you Rabbid!
You had better acknowledge Jirard the Completionist on that list.
Top 10 video game beards or bearded video game characters?
FE6 HECTOR BETTER BE ON THERE!
Top 10 beards we can't live without
Top Ten Facial Hair, Bartre from FE6
I can't look at him in Heroes anymore without thinking he looks like Jeff Foxworthy.
Top five first entries that are still considered to be the best in their respective series
A1 Video gamer Stronghold 1? XD
A1 Video gamer
Sonic 3 & Knuckles/Sonic 2
A1 Video gamer Xenosaga I. I mean, all the games in that trilogy are good, but the first has most of the best qualities, including a non-stealth-game stealth section that’s actually amazing, and hands down the best battle theme in any RPG.
A1 Video gamer banjo kazooie
That’s a really long title
Top 5 or 10 Carefree OP(Overpowered) characters.
No main characters (playable characters perhaps or bosses) and not just lazy characters but characters who just go about there business and can take out anyone that rubs them the wrong way, they can even fight carefree as well.
But, Deadpool and Dante.
Sheogorath
I'd say Dante in DMC4 specifically. He's got some sort of investment in the fight in previous games, and his carefree attitude doesn't last. However in 4, he's basically just chilling and having fun. Trish steals his father's sword, so he takes a long, leisurely walk to kill some demons and get it back. Sure, he gets impaled into a statue as per series standard, but it doesn't really bother him anymore. He just picks himself up, and chats with Nero while having his sword stuck in his chest.
Thunder. Freaking. god. Cid. He's got to be the epitome of overpowered characters in single-player games, especially RPGs.
Growlzagra Cody Travers. If he actually gave a damn, the street fighter Universe would never be able to take him on
I’m disappointed there’s no Starman Junior fight featuring Buzz Buzz. It’s a fight that hypes Buzz Buzz up as this character who’s extremely powerful, far more so than Ness and can take on this enemy you can’t singlehandedly.
...Then in the very next scene he’s swatted once by a normal woman and killed. It’s a perfect comedic set up and gives you some free exp in the process.
A bee he is
...not
I'm not sure if that would actually count as a boss, since it's part of a different boss fight and it dies before you get a chance to do anything.
Technically you can lose, if you grind enough to learn Shield. It overrides Buzz Buzz's PSI Shield, and you then die to Starman Jr.
In a way, it makes sense for someone to go down in one bullet. Realism, but in a fantasy game. It is underwhelming, but I always just thought the bullet pushed him far enough back to fall down his giant tower to his death. Only wish we could have seen him falling.
Rena Ami Akai It also kind of makes sense cobsidering how ludicrously overpowered you are in fable 2 to the point people just start shitting bricks when you're in their general vicinity
"I'm ok with Andross stealing the thunder, because I've played a Zelda game before"
Ahahaha I see what you did there good sir, well played xD
And the lesson of today is don't fuck with Spiderman.
LOL I remember playing Spiderman 2 with my sister and when Mysterio showed up, I said something along the lines of, "Man, we're in for a tough fight," only for my sister to promptly knock his lights out. At first, we thought it was a glitch, but now it's just hilarious.
You can die in SMG2's final boss. You have to not jump when Bowser punches, and let him hit you like 6 times.
Even if you do that, there's a good chance the coin inside the meteor can fall into you so you have to be lucky with that too.
It’s funny how weird the Super Mario abbreviation can screw with someone on a skim read. If you just glance at SMG, you might mistake it for MGS or SMT, both of which are very different games.
Mario Galaxy Super or Super Mario Tensei?
Yeah you have to try to
At least Advent Children was a lot better than...*shudders*... The Spirits Within.
Yes! That movie was boring and it didn't deserve the name Final Fantasy.
Here's your medal sir, thank you for serving your country with this comment
How dare u utter such filth!
Top 5 Unexpectedly Hilarious Deaths In Video Games
Like, for example, the "Here's Johnny" fatality from Mortal Kombat X
Lynne from Ghost Trick dying by a giant fake chicken falling on her head.
megagutsman **fangirl screams because someone's talking about Ghost Trick**
*Tomb Raider: Anniversary* deaths?
Well, this topic is basically opening the doorway to any number of Crash Bandicoot deaths.
Take your pick!
Top 5 or 10 games NOBODY expected to be good.
(You know those games that look like they were just there to get the company more money or the game LOOKS like it's going to be awful, but it surprisingly turn out to be a LOT better than people thought.)
Also a top 5 or 10 best and/or worst video game commericals.
trishoverman47 Metroid Prime, Arkham Asylum, Uncharted 1
trishoverman47 Ultra sun and moon
Pocket Card Jockey.
Shadow of Mordor
Mari and Rabbids, grannted it only sounded like a bad idea until it was actually announced
Seeing a clip of Saboteur really brightened my day, thank you sir
I burst out laughing when I first saw The Leader’s death.
Not a great boss, but he’s at least funny.
Yeah eating the fucking boss is quite the power move when I really think about.
I personally enjoyed Fable 2's ending, there was a lot of build up, and all the characters getting up at the end was really satisfying to me.
Fun fact: Spiderman is so strong he always holds back so that he doesn't I'll his enemies
Good, you included the Golem Overlord I actually felt pretty bad with defeating him lol
With Earthworm Jim it works really well, but I am still a bit kind of like what’s the point of playing a game to then not even have any challenge at the end
It feels so nice to see VII on this list. I remember as a kid I said to myself "I wonder if you can lose this fight" and, because I waited so long thinking, I got attacked for >50% of my health, only to see Cloud counter attack and win the fight. I was dumbfounded and joyous all at the same time.
I love how we featured the game Lost Odyssey that's one of your clips because it's such an under rated game and no one really plays it anymore
Great video. I was hoping Mysterio would appear on this list I played that game so much as a kid. I remember seeing that health bar and panicked so I just rushed him and he was down. Also if you do not hit him he just stays still and look like the game is glitching he doesn’t attack.
Ahhh working on a Chrono Trigger singing project has gotten me able to recognize the music on a whim, I'm onto you Will
Cellochicita is this singing project one that can be found online, perhaps elsewhere on this very platform? If so I would be interested to know where.
I love the music... shame Chrono Trigger isn't remembered nearly as much as its "Final" brothers...
(Especially themes like Frogs or Ayla's)
Blaze knight and in the version with the link to the playlist gets lost you can find it by searching Chrono Trigger the Musical, by Man on the Internet
Let's be fair, when it's the standard fighting music, I mean, it's hard NOT to recognize it. Compare it to, say, "Robo Gang Johnny" or "Tyran Castle"...
Hey, Cellochicita! Fancy seeing you here!
I saw the latest song from that project, and I'd encourage anyone who sees this to check it out! They also did an Undertale project of the same vein (I think that's how spell it), and it is fantastic!
Also Leviathon in FFXV. Huge, epic, cinematic and completely un-failable.
Seriously? No Yu Yevon from FFX? The game gives you Auto-life at the start and it's permanent.
I'm not sure if he counts these for this list, but, believe it or not, it is actually possible to lose to Yu Yevon. If you Petrify your whole party, that's a wipe (since Auto-Life doesn't cover petrification). Now, one could argue this only half-counts, since the only way to lose is suicide, but you still can lose.
A major qualifier for this list seems to be "couldn't lose even if you tried".
I love it when I can't tell whether it's a "best" or "worst" list. Some things are just too weird to not have their existences appreciated in a hilariously random countdown
Earthworm Jim is one of the greats.
There's also the dancing zombies in monster party.
I was NOT anticipating Asriel! I don't know how I overlooked him, but I was fangirling the entire time you were talking about him! Actually, my brain tends to scream in excitement if I even hear Hopes and Dreams playing!
“I’m not very good at video games, I just talk a lot” made me laugh because that’s very relatable haha
She's not just "Queen Slug-for-a-Butt"! She's "The Evil Queen Pulsating, Bloated, Festering, Sweaty, Pus-filled, Malformed, Slug-for-a-Butt!" But yeah, Bob is an amazing boss encounter - and I love his characterization in the cartoon.
I didn't even know Bowser was unable to damage you in Galaxy 2's final battle because I've never let him reach me.
He actually can
It’s just you also have to let his fist actually touch you
Really you would have to not even be trying [or have actually terrible aim] for him to hit you once, let alone 3-6 times
BURN THE COPY OF METAL GEAR SURVIVE
I had a feeling General Scales was going to be on this list...
Another thing about #7: It shows up after a rather tedious part of the game, where the comedy relief will be the most appreciated.
Top 5 Obvious Plot Twists. As in, a plot twist that is so blantenly obvious that it makes you wonder why it was even a plot twist at all.
Mr. FroggyNutz Didn’t he do that already? Okay, not Obvious, but Worst. Close enough.
Ise no Kami Listen, there's tons of these things. It's hard to think of a new topic.
If the 13th colossus of SOTC isn’t on here you have gravely screwed up Mr. Luigi.
Edit: You have gravely messed up Mr. Luigi
Love the description. Lol. Dark souls boss died instantly.
#5: "I warned you about stairs, bro! I told you, dog!"
Another Rabidluigi video!! My Sunday is now complete!
15:56 - oh, but he is. When Doc Ock switched bodies with Spidey, he quickly found out that the Web-Head had been literally pulling his punches for years.
I've always felt this way, but I just CAN'T justifiably call #3 a boss fight. Maybe it's just me.
I am so happy to see how big this channel has grown 😀
Ok question: why do You have a copy of Metal Gear Survive? You hurting yourself for Nothing!
L-Shadow So he can personally destroy it and throw it in the bin.
He IS a reviewer. Can't review a game without playing it first.
(He should've just pirated it in my opinion)
PhantomKnight64 yeah But.......Is hurting him self anyways....
What other way is there for him to judge how vile it is?
Hopefully he was just borrowing it for the video.
If my boi asriel isn’t here I will riot
Technically, that's not Sephiroth. Cloud is delving into his subconscious so that he could kill him there too. Further cementing that Sephiroth is gone for good and no longer has a strangle-hold over his life.
Fully expected Zote from Hollow Knight, especially since I don't think you're talked about it yet. Maybe the fact that the dream version is legitimately difficult disqualified him?
It's been over 20 years, and it just hit me in the face of the irony where a worm eats a fish.
What the hell.
Wow I had no idea that the Super Mario Galaxy 2 Boss Fight was one you can't lose. I assumed if Bowser managed to get close to you or hit you it would be an instant game over (the fancy set piece and music convinced that to me)!!! XD
“It’s so strange to have such a spectacle with dramatic music and...also no challenge.”
Dark Beast Ganon in a nutshell.
And I’d say that Asriel’s the best kind of boss fight that you can’t lose. Some might say that this makes the fight too easy, but it essentially works the same as the Flowey fight. Since Flowey is Asriel, he has the same goal-to keep the character trapped in their own purgatory so that they can never win, and goading the actual player to give up as a result.
That is, unless you win through unconventional means-but it’s a very unique spin of how traditional boss fights work.
Also, nice to see you make a top ten in the longest time! And you just reminded me how pathetic and pointless the Electricutioner was. The only thing stupider than his name was his entire role in Arkham Origins.
Know this, cur. I am Zote the Mighty, a knight of great renown. Cross me again, and you'll find out why they call my weapon 'Life Ender'.
Top 5/10 bosses with alternate methods of defeat.
I don’t mean ”methods” as in cheesing the boss by exploiting game mechanics but rather in ways the game intended. Best example I can come up with right off the bat is the two alternate ways you can kill The End from MGS3.
Gabriel Ullman ceaseless discharge in ds1
Matthew Busch Also a good example.
Two other Dark Souls options: Executioner's Chariot (2), High Lord Wolnir (3).
TMonager High I usually beat the Chariot with the special strat but I’ve never heard of a special way to kill Wolnir, care to elaborate?
+Gabriel Ullman Maybe Wolnir is a bad example... both he and Yhorm have the "easy way" victory (destroy the bracelets for Wolnir, use the Storm Ruler for Yhorm) and the "hard way" (not doing those things). I suggested Wolnir's since there are actually different death animations for each way. But it's not really a different method, so... just go with the Chariot, I guess.
10:21
I guess you could say Borderlands is a “far cry” from Farcry.
Using Lost Odyssey OST and background footage of it as well... I love you.
I had no idea bowser can’t hit you in galaxy 2. Thanks for teaching me something really cool and interesting!
At the Mysterio fight, something that I found out when I was a little kid: You don't even need no punch him... You can literally punch the window and have the same result
In fact, Spiderman is super strong, its just that he need to mesure his punches because he could kill someone.
You do know that Super Mario Galaxy 2 was originally planned to be DLC for SMG1. Right? That's why there weren't very many changes, even when it became its own game
Fire Hedgehog did you know that water ISN'T the same as Arsenic
Uhm, ok?
I'm glad you put the Electricutioner as the segway clip lol.
I like the idea of beating down a boss by QTE-ish super moves in JRPG. Tales series always do this. When the BOSS's health bar is lowered to a certain threshhold, you fucking destroy him by activating the huge super move, specifically designed for ending this fight.
Kinda surprising Babylon Guardian isn't on here considering there's absolutely no way to lose, heck it's not even required to be in first place to beat him!
Huh, someone else remembers that one. Props, good sir.
Likely that it just didn't cross Will's mind when he was composing this list. Or... maybe effort plays a part in these entries? While it is true that you can't lose to the Babylon Guardian, the race-fight still requires some effort (since you need to keep up with the urn to damage it, which basically requires being in first place most of the time).
I remember playing Galaxy 2's final boss a whole lot years ago. I purposely put Mario in a position where he would get hit by the attack and it turns out you CAN get damaged by it...
... but of course destroying the meteor spawns a coin which would likely just fall into Mario and get him back to full health. The small space of the following meteors make it hard to avoid these coins too. While it is possible to get damaged, yes, I can't even lose this fight even if I tried. Darn coins.
Hey Rabbid, remember Zote the Mighty?
Ah yes, our glamorous grey prince 👌
I loved beating him in the Colloseum!
I still keep hearing "just remember Luigi" as your outro sentence... xD
The Mysterio boss fight is yet another slap in the face for the character. He was called a “human Xerox machine” by Daredevil after deciding to switch heroes, and then committed suicide.
That music after your intro! It's from Lost Odyssey! Holy crap, I haven't heard that music in forever!
Also, the final boss of Final Fantasy X would probably have made this list too. Your whole party is given auto revive for the whole fight, and the boss only does single target attacks.
To your opening line to number 7: Undertale is a game where you play as the only aggressor in an otherwise peaceful, if not slightly damaged, world.
oh my god who would expect you'd pull out the Incredible Hulk from the Genesis, literal first game I ever owned xD That's quite the trip down memory lane, I remember getting stuck in the second level, the labyrinth zone cause I could never quite detect the disappearing platforms xD silly 6 years old me xD That aside, the last boss was indeed underwhelming as hell xDDD
Was expecting Mysterio and Mettaton Neo.
Neo isn’t here but I’m still satisfied.
to add to six if you somehow go down to be bruce banner again you can still kill the leader in 1 hit, because there HAPPENS to be a gun in the same room which banner can use to shoot and do pretty much the same thing
Y'know, I wish I had remembered this when your asking for suggestions on this topic but...I guess I'll place a honorable mention to *Cloud n' Candy* from Yoshi's Story. Cloud n' Candy is...a giant ball cloud-shaped candy with a face...who you beat by eating said candy...which heals you for every lick you take. So, even if it DOES deal damage with it's pathetically weak jump, you can heal it off in a nanosecond. You can literally beat/eat this boss in under 30 seconds. It is...definitely a very odd boss...
But Yoshi's Story is already an odd game, so that's not too much of a surprise. ;P
To be fair, I think most of the problem with Number 6 was the sheer number of unanswered or only partially answered questions, mixed with how you had no opportunity to punish the guy who could also make the shot for being...well evil incarnate, worse even than the bad guy. And then of course, he gets away with it again in part 3.
the cutest warrior from adventure time Ice King why did you steal my garbage. You literally do nothing and he runs into your leg, falling to pieces
Shout out for having Lost Odyssey music throughout the beginning and transitions. Game deserves at least a remaster because lol JRPGs on the Xbox 360 tanked so hard.
To be honest, in reference to the Asriel fight in Undertale, you could have also gone with the Omega Flowey fight as well. While you can, and most likely will, die during that fight, you can come back with your progress saved up to the last soul that you called for help, thus making it weird, and maybe not fitting the list, but also I think it does, though I could be completely wrong on that.
I like how he times the transition between live to game footage with the music in the background in the beginning of his videos
I would have put on literally every boss in kirby's epic yarn. Putting bosses in a game where you literally can't lose is an interesting concept to say the least.
I honest to god killed the last boss of Fable 2 accidentally. Was getting frustrated with the monologue and thought it was an unskippable part as a prelude to the fight so I just put my controller down and I must have pressed a button or something because my character whipped out a pistol and shot him in the face while he was still talking. I was shocked for a while but then I just started laughing. Didn't have a computer of my own back then, and thus wasn't spoiled, so that was a complete surprise for me
Top 5 in-game explanations for respawning?
Patrick Bever-Chritton conker should come out on top
i like nier automatas where since you're an android your consciousness just gets uploaded into a new body and you have to reaquire your plugin chips from your old one since those couldnt be sent, and the plugin chip loss also enforces the idea to manually save more often to avoid that situation which is good since it prepars your for route C where respawning is no longer possible and you can only reload
Patrick Bever-Chritton Definitely Undertale. They make your own “determination” to keep playing into an actual and physical thing into the game that turns monsters into what can best be described as nightmare fuel.
Patrick Bever-Chritton i like this one
Patrick Bever-Chritton B O R D E R L A N D S
How is Suikoden 2 not on here?! You cannot lose the final fight against Jowy, whether you fight back or not, and it results in a gorgeous, emotional conclusion to one of the most epic and fascinating RPGs ever made.
As soon as i heard hopes and dreams i knew the god who is actually not difficult to beat what so ever was going to be here.
fun fact, spiderman was officially the fourth strongest hero in marvel during the early years, just behing hulk, thor and thing. it's.... inconsistent, but a lot of people forget that he STARTED at the proportional strength of a spider, and has been getting stronger over the years, (the 'fourth strongest' announcement made sure to point this out) unfortunately the writers forget this too. he's still strong enough to catch a landing airplane with his bare hands or break a boxer's wrist by tensing his pectoral muscles though.
The Final boss of Saint's Row 2, could probably be on this list, however you could lose if you just stood in front of him doing nothing. But while every other SR2 boss was epic and difficult and involved some kinda mechanic that you had to learn. The final boss of SR2 was just a scrawny guy in a business suit with a couple of body guards that are dispatched as easily as any average enemy. He's armed with a pistol, but you can use your whole collection of weapons. You shoot him with a shotgun and you are done.
I honestly felt satisfied with Fable 2's ending. The villain is still portrayed as human and not all-powerful, it's referential to how even the worst people on the planet are still human beings who can die just as quickly as others.
I was expecting Calamity Ganon.... but then again I can't think of anything good in that fight to put it on top anything other than disappoint.
I remember when I first fought mysterio. I was freaking out running around the store, thinking I was going to get destroyed
You know it is possible to die to the second form of bowser in SMG2, it’s just incredibly hard, because you have to get hit by his hand every time, and avoid getting the coins, and resist hitting him, so it IS possible to die, but as I have said, it’s hard man
With #9, I could’ve sworn he actually could hurt you, provided you stay on the same meteor while he punches because he’s targeting where you were
Definitely one of the most unique themes to a video
But Rabbidluigi, Demon's Souls actually does end on a boss fight that is genuinely difficult to lose to. Sure, it can still kill you, but you need to wait for quite a while for it to happen.
Also the best part about Mysterio is that if you do an attack where you grab the enemy from afar and spin him around with the web, it actually makes Mysterio ragdoll all over the place but not take damage. So before the boss stood before you menacingly while making threats, now he's apparently eating his own spine for lunch while still making threats.
I guess the J.E.N.O.V.A. inside you is what you killed since Cloud was the only one with the alien’s cells that didn’t get absorbed by Sephiroth.
Okay straight up I cant lie.
Hopes and Dreams STILL gives me goosebumps man.
I failed the Batman one.. Batman tripped on his own boot and ragdolled after the initial cutscene ended immediately. Not even kidding.
