Brian, the thing I REALLY like about you is you understand not all of us have the desire or ability to spend $$$$$$ on a rod and/or reel. So you give excellent alternatives for us to pick from. You have the honest desire to see people simply get out and fish. (Oh and I love it when your son is in your videos too!! Excellent parenting to create the next generation of anglers!!)
Texas rig is my #1 rig. I have started using a bobber stopper in front and behind the weight. I make sure the weights are hollow in the rear to hide the bobber stopper there. With two stoppers I get a 3 in 1 set up...Texas, Carolina, and pinned just by repositioning the stoppers. Thanks as always for the video.
I just wanted to let you know that we love your video. Me and my step son watch all you video together for family night.. thank you for everything you do.. you just don't know how much you mean to him and me ..his first local troment is this Saturday.. he has all Z man stuff on i love it .. just thank you 😊
Yet another reason why I follow you BLat, you remember your roots and keep it real. I like that you show options for those of us who aren’t pros or who can’t afford to drop $700-800 for a set up and don’t make us feel bad about it or only endorse the best stuff. Good job covering as much as you did, you’re right, it’s a very broad and grey subject. Keep it Sir, love your work!
I love watching your vids because you can hear how much pride you take in fishing! I love fishing and I am working to be as knowledgeable as you. Thank you!
I have watched a few of your videos and the level of detail you give without wasting time is so great! I have learned a lot real fast. Keep crushing it and I hope you keep winning tournaments!!
"one that everybody and their brother can buy" then pulls out a $700 combo. I don't think BLat knows many everyday people. I'm excited if I can afford a $200 combo
im starting to fall more and more in love with the t-rig just based on the fact that its so versatile, i know you love your crankbaits just as much as i do please please please can we see that one next! haha all of them shallow to deep! cause i know my Dude has more than one!
Hey Brian I like to use the Palomar for my offsets and ewg’s but when it comes to straight shank I like to use the snell knot. I noticed that when I set the hook it pushes the hook up into the fish’s mouth a lot better than the palomar. Great video thanks
This series is getting better each video. This one was on par with Tactical Bassin . Thanks for what you do , you are helpful and inspirational. And that Palmetto bug is bread and butter .
My favorite way to rig mine is on a 7' medium heavy rod with some 40lb braid, I like Mann's 12in worm or a zoom 10in ole monster worm, my spinning reel is a 5:2:1 gear ratio, now that works for me. I'm so glad you came out with this video!
Texas rig with offset is what I use. I do some pond fishing have real good luck with tequila sunrise . Also use top water frogs in the shallow areas. Be safe and keep them videos coming.
Thanks for these tips! Always open to learning more. Please dont think any point you make is a small or unimportant one. Sometimes even though I do something, I dont know why...well cause dad told me too, but its nice to know why. Thanks!
River Rat Fishing TV ps that’s not a knock on you , it’s actually a compliment technically but i will say those lews reels are fuego 🔥i’ve owned a few and lews gets the award for best all around reel company best longevity , while shimano still takes the crown for best overall and best technique specific reels but favorite rods still haven’t caught up to the others hopefully they will they jumped on the scene quickly im sure they’ll get better and better and those who jumped on board early and stayed should highly benefit financially
Can you tell me what brand your lure and component csses are? Those look alot better for organizing then mine do. I would like to check them out. Great vids by the way subscribed and bell notified! 🐟👍
NED RIG NEXT PLEASE HAHA. Hey B. Lat! love your stuff dude. I learned about the ned rig from you and I've been loving it. This series of videos has been DOPE
I've never seen your videos before but damn if this wasn't the most informative video I've seen on UA-cam. As a complete novice, this has helped me understand what the hell I'm doing haha thanks!
Hey BLat i enjoy you videos, they’re very educational and entertaining for me. Could you do a video explaining the purpose of a rod. Ex: backbone, graphite blanks, fast tip..etc etc. i need help understanding how to match a rod and reel for the purpose of fishing i am doing. Thank you.
Man thank you!!! It's like you made this video for me! I am gonna watch it again and write stuff down! Can't wait to try it. I never thought about the weights that much. I'd love to see more of this type of content and a lot of just how you start fishing. If the water's cold/hot, muddy/clear, wind/calm etc. I've seen you talk about it in several particular videos but one video breaking down your thought process would be awesome! Thanks again, stay safe and healthy!
As a bank fisher man, I use a 6 foot medium heavy fast action rod with a 7.8 ratio reel. I mostly texas rig with it but I might try your advice. I gain some knowledge from you and thank you for that :)
Texas rigs are great! I like fishing Yum Dingers and Zoom Ultravibe Speed Craws on mine. I also like the Strike King Rage Craw. Please do a video on your favorite crankbait setup. Looking forward to your next video, I just subbed!
I’m not new/new to the channel. I am a subscriber, but I’ve always loved seeing your insight on life and fishing. I only have 4 rod setups at the moment for bass. I’m currently looking at purchasing a fast bait caster reel and heavy rod for frogging with heavy braid as my 5th rod. I have a medium heavy rod I use for Texas rig. But for punching is it wise to use a heavy cover frog rig setup or should I think about also purchasing a different setup down the road for punching? I fish primarily on a pedal stand up fishing kayak. I’m no expert, I just enjoy fishing with the tools I have. Looking to grow and learn more.
I was always taught to put a bead before the bullet weight to keep the weight from banging on the knot you’ve tied, are the weights made different these days or is that a good idea? 👍🏼
I have a 7'6" medium heavy Veritas with lews lfs 7 3 1 reel. I fish clear water and I use 12 to 15 pound invisx. And I have a 7'3" Heavy action Duckett Silverado with a lews lfs 7 3 1 reel. I keep it spooled with 30 pound power pro with 15 to 20 pound invisx leader that's about 20 feet long. I use it for night fishing mainly, but I've caught fish with both setups just fine. Only thing is I like the 7 foot 3 rod better for worm fishing and dragging jigs or carolina rigs. I find I don't move my bait as much with one sideways pull.
Ive become super addicted to weightless Texas rig. I CATCH some fish on the weightless 5" Senko. Heavy Fast and fast reel are a must. I like as light a line as I can get away with. 12-17 lb test clear line is nice. I like fluorocarbon but mono seems to work fine.
I love the Texas rig. ive started using flipping hooks more recently... but the problem I have with them is my hook point comes out and catches grass... I feel like I go through more baits
James D I definitely go through more baits using a flipping hook due to the bait keeper. Also if your not using a snell knot with a flipping hook your wasting your time... Also you get one swing on soft plastics with flipping hook. Your out a bait if you didn’t or did catch a fish.
Stuntman D29 and the problem here is the Kissimmee grass and buggywhips. Sometimes the bait hangs up and just a twitch or gentle pressure to get it out will expose the hook. I’ve been buying the d-bomb by the 30 pack. But I keep multiple packs of sweet beavers and spicy beavers. Most of my bass fishing is done by kayak just because I enjoy it so I’m limited on space. I use a lot of zman stuff for saltwater so I may give the palmetto bugZ a try. Or maybe I should use my vantage if I’m planning on flipping
Also the TK133 seems to be helping a ton. Both keeping fish pinned and not destroying a bait every other cast. I’m typically pretty loyal to owner and vmc for most of my hooks but I like those
Everything well put and nicely done. I use Tx rig a lot but I love the way you explained everything and there are some helpful tips in here even for an experienced fisherman. Specially the straight shank part.
How about a video on the best zman plastics to Texas rig and how and where to fish them. Can’t find too many videos on specific ways to fish zman plastics for bass. Say when the fluke bite is on which zman plastic is the best fluke imitator. Etc. plus my local stores have very limited selections so it’s hard to just pick one up to experiment. Have to order specific, it’d be nice to know what to order.
I used to be a huge Shimano fan. I bought a Curado last year. A 7'2" heavy. I dunno, just feels light years away from my older Falcon Cara t7. Got a Rush 7' Md Hvy. Broke the tip off the rod before I use it.
Almost bought the Favorite, Hex 7’6” heavy but for that money went with the MegaBass Destroyer Valdivia. It’s insane sensitive although would prefer a more updated guide train but also paired my 7’6” with the Lews hypermag! Absolutely LOVE my Hypermag! 4.6oz magnesium!
Thank you Mr. Brian, my Son and I love all your videos
Such a simple rig yet can be so complicated. And everyone has their own spin or opinion on it.
I love the "For meeee...." 😄
I like how you keep it basic and down to earth and keeping me from slaving and working so hard when I'm on the water fishing! Smile? Much Love, Z

I've been using the Texas rig for decades and still learning .Thank you for the tips and advice. Fish On 🐟 🐟 🐟
hey man thank you so much for breaking down the hooks you use in those different scenarios. very insightful

I have watched a few of your videos and the level of detail you give without wasting time is so great! I have learned a lot real fast. Keep crushing it and I hope you keep winning tournaments!!
Just started fishing and I got me a 7’ medium/fast with 5.6:1 gear spinner. Gonna be throwing a Texas rig while I learn how to fish
How does this video have any thumbs down? It's a super crash course in the holy grail of bass fishing. Great video, B-Lat!
"one that everybody and their brother can buy" then pulls out a $700 combo. I don't think BLat knows many everyday people. I'm excited if I can afford a $200 combo
Agreed...my wife would be blowing up over the cost of my new hobby and immediately send me to the Zebco stack!
Your right I stay in the 2 to 3 hundred dollar range for a whole setup and that is a big ordeal.
Your right I stay in the 2 to 3 hundred dollar range for a whole setup and that is a big ordeal.
Looks like he got his rods mixed up.
at the end of the day he is a pro fisherman who needs the best of the best equipment 🤷🏼♂️

Great series of videos! Looking forward to your expertise on all different setups
This series is getting better each video. This one was on par with Tactical Bassin . Thanks for what you do , you are helpful and inspirational. And that Palmetto bug is bread and butter .
Dan Dosreis 10000% agreed he’s starting to really become the second best and informative channel on youtube , tactical obviously being number 1

NED RIG NEXT PLEASE HAHA. Hey B. Lat! love your stuff dude. I learned about the ned rig from you and I've been loving it. This series of videos has been DOPE
Ben Ramos look up UA-camFishingVideos (name of channel). Cornell fishes the ned regularly and tells you about setups
Absolutely love your videos, thanks Brian!

What is your perfect spinner set up..love the videos by the way very helpful
Great instruction, thank you for taking the time to put out such knowledgeable information.
Brian, love your videos, instruction, and just overall camera presence. Keep it up bro.
Makes sense. I was trying to use a spinning setup for texas rig fishing. Lots of lost fish.
Thanks for the great content! You are an excellent teacher.
Man you are chock full of information. Thank you so much for sharing. 👍🏾
What an outstanding video on the Texas rig!
Thank you very much for these instructional videos if you’re going to do another one I’d like to see the one for drop shot
Thanks bud for the awesome tips! Hello From South Africa

Cool video! I was raised up Texas rigging! I love that style fishing!!
I absolutely LOVED this video..not too long and very imformative
Thanks B just moved to lake mary fl I needed this info
ok.... good video. thought this was just about the texas rig. keep up the good work.
Enjoyed the video!! I will definitely try these two tips.
Thanks B Lat. Great information.
Great video!! Just getting into fishing. Hopefully you’ll continue more videos like this!
I always use a glass red bead between the weight and hook. It adds sound color and it protects the knot. Your thoughts
Thank you for all the tips man.
Great job, I like how you set up shop!!
I was always taught to put a bead before the bullet weight to keep the weight from banging on the knot you’ve tied, are the weights made different these days or is that a good idea?

Dang B, the rod cost $400, my wife is going to kill me. Looks like a Father's day 🎁. Nice vid.

When your point comes out in the otherside snug the point against the rubber bait

Loving all these favorite setup videos, a lot of great information. What is your opinion on EWG hooks for a T-rig?
The 2 mentioned is all I use
Love the Texas rig! Great tip!
Thank you for this great video,. Greetings from Germany
Question. If your casting the Texas rig is the 7’6” a little long for that? I’ve been more comfortable casting with 7’ to 7’3”.
Can u do a drop shot and what it works best with?
Everything well put and nicely done. I use Tx rig a lot but I love the way you explained everything and there are some helpful tips in here even for an experienced fisherman. Specially the straight shank part.

How are you hooking your baits to the reel to not have to take the hook out the plastic
These are really good videos! Thanks again for sharing!
Thanks for this video B Lat! Can you provide the straight shank hook size and brand/model you use?
Man, great video! One question, If Im using braided line, how do I determine the length of my leader?
Nice set ups love the Palmetto bug
Almost bought the Favorite, Hex 7’6” heavy but for that money went with the MegaBass Destroyer Valdivia. It’s insane sensitive although would prefer a more updated guide train but also paired my 7’6” with the Lews hypermag! Absolutely LOVE my Hypermag! 4.6oz magnesium!
Great video, I learned a lot, thanks!
Really enjoy these videos , can you also do one on a Carolina rig as well ?
Thanks
Great video thank you for all the tips. Can you use a spinning Real for Texas Riggen...✌🏽
What tackle tray is that?
Thanks Brian! Thank you for dropping that pro knowledge on us. Love all the vids. Especially how you get your son involved in this sport.
Hey Brian! I have 7:5:1 reel will that work for the Texas rig, I mostly fish banks and ponds
Drop a video with tips/advice for new tournament anglers. Keep up the great content!
That’s the entire channel buddy
It's a kids pole and my grand kids love it great buy
What type of rod power and action for weightless t-rigs
Always have a Texas rig tied on one rod. Its so versatile being able to throw swimbaits, craws, worms and almost every other plastic. BFG
Thanks mate!
As usual, very informative!
Solid advise....Thanks .
Man you remind me of Richard Pryor every time you hit that high pitch "for meee" lol
Excellent tutorial
Awesome information thank you.
good stuff B. latt.
what do you you think about the 7,3 summit for t rigs
What size straight shank hook where you using on the Palmetto bug?
Do you ever use blade baits? Or Horsetail Jigs? Great videos.. keep em coming.
Great advice
