  • The Texas Rig is, without a doubt, the most versatile bass fishing rig there is. You can fish it with any soft plastic lure and any possible way and still catch bass.

I’m guilty of putting the Texas Rig down. It was my first confidence bait (really my first bass bait). My dad used to set me up with a 1/16-1/8oz bullet weight, straight shank hook, and morning dawn chartreuse Roboworm. I’d sweep that rod to the side, reel up the slack and repeat. He knew it wouldn’t get snagged and it would keep me busy; I knew it slaughtered all kinds of bass. If you still have your dad around, ask him to go fishing. If you don’t have time, make time. Tight lines y’all 🎣

The old ones were bad. Your plastics always slid off of them but now that some have bait keepers on them them work great and are much better than the offset hooks for most applications.

My PB (in the mid teens) came on a "modified" T rig and my last few this year (Senko dinks. Lol) were in a T rig. YES. The Texas Rig is bass fishin 101 & after inline spinners (Rooster Tails, Mepps etc...) Every new bass fisherman needs to spend the next, oh, 30 years or so, mastering the Texas Rig!

I was hoping you would say the g finesse hooks. Love those in a kayak sitting down where sometimes you dont get as powerful of a hookset. Ive also had really good experiences with those zone-loc hooks in the lighter wire. Every time those zone locs are in there, hard to get out.....dont know ive ever lost one. I got a pack in a trial box somewhere, and freakin loved them. Plus easier to textpose end of hook and look smooth.

Yeah, our handicap in South Georgia is that there are no local bait and tackle shops anymore. All we have is whatever Walmart decides to stock or drive an hour and a half or farther to a Bass Pro or Academy Sports or Dick’s. That or take a chance on ordering online. Can’t remember the last time I went in a place that sold worms other than Walmart, never mind crickets. So most of us grew up pond or river fishing with whatever worms/crickets/grasshoppers we could dig or catch or lures we could find and never learned all this in depth technical stuff with the extremely limited time we have to just throw a hook in the water.
I’ve got to wonder if any of these people have a job?
