Thanks for these videos. Got back into fishing with my little bro and kids this year. Started out getting nothing and now pulling 1-2 each trip. Keep up the great work!
Tyler, is there any way you could do a video on what types of rods to use with certain lures? For example light, med, heavy action rods and what lures are good for them. What rod would fish a crank bait, top water, worm etc.... thanks
Crankbait you want medium moderate action to give you more bend in the rod to help catapult the small lightweight baits and let the rod absorb some of the shock so you don’t pull or bend out small treble hooks Topwater can be divided into treble hooks vs like frogs. Frogs you want MH to H rods to absolutely slam hooksets really fast. Other topwater lures you can just go by the weight of the lure, 7’ MH is a great all around topwater rod If the hooks are texas rigged in your soft plastics, you need a slightly stronger rod to rip that hookset. So with a ned rig you might use a medium light, you probably want at least a medium power for a t rigged senko

Awesome video, the advice you give is very informative and clear. It also helps a lot of people. The temperature here in Illinois has become very cold so I have not been able to try the advice with fluke yet. With it being cold would a weightless fluke still work well?
I'm a huge fan tyler you are awsom you've inspierd me to make my own channel and be on fishing team i only have 1 video at the time and i was wandering what type of fishing videos i should make
Great advice as usual Tyler. I only shore fish so I tend to go heavier on the weights for more casting distance, esp in summer to go deep where the cooler water is. Right now it's pre spawn so I figure it would be a perfect time to throw some lighter weights as they would tend to be in the shallower water. I'm not going to peg as much either. Love craws and creatures. Don't suppose you could throw me 1 or 2 of your favorites in each category? Thanks again my friend. You make awesome videos!!
I know you specifically talking about bullet weights when Texas rigging while you’re on a boat, but for many who bank angler I really like and stick with 3/8 ounce bullet weights tungsten and since I cast it’s been my go to. However I predominantly fish in river where current is some times choppy or calm depending on wind. But I also recognize to there is often under current that happens also when I throw like either Texas craw or yum dinger I don’t peg my weight and I let the fall take course until it reaches bottom then I give it some action. But great video nonetheless my guy.
As always great video. I was looking for this kind of info. 1 question thou, In a sliding un pegged bullet weight when casting how fast does the weight fall versus the soft plastic if any and I'm sure it does. Can you happen to show that in your pool😁
Hmm, I never use a weight but you got me thinking differently now. I have a hard time feeling the bite when I use weight. How long after you hop off the bottom do you let it sit?
Some good information I never even knew of. Seems like every time I use any weight while fishing it’s just a magnet for weeds and snags on everything possible in the water
For people scrolling through comments while watching, new anglers or bank fisherman use lead cause it’s cheap. Experienced dude use tungsten in all cases it doesn’t chip and is a lot smaller. Maybe that’s just me🤷🏻♂️ also titan and vmc are great companies
Don’t forget about steel weights. They are a happy medium between lead and tungsten in price. They are also needed in states that aren’t lead friendly.
Let's say I use a Texas rig on one of these plastics. Do I use a bobber up the line also? Super dumb question probably but I'm just getting into fishing. I don't know when to use one and when not to.
No, there’s no need for a bobber in bass fishing with convention tackle. I’ve got TONS of beginner videos to help you out! Search “TylersReelFishing soft plastics” and you’ll get a good start on how to rig them and fish them (2 different videos)
Tyler - great vid man. Question since I know most Anglers and outdoors types are in favor of conservation (wildlife + habitat): do lead weights contaminate water? Being the expert I am in getting snagged/caught up, while catching relatively few fish, it's something I think about. In other words, if you're just donating lead to the water and not catching many fish...does that hurt the lake/river?
Hey I was wondering your opinion on using 3/16 I use this a lot for casting Texas rigs. I just feel as though I can get some long casts with it and work it longer. 1/8 I’ll use for short casts, 1/16 on spinning. I just end up getting bored and working to too fast
I am late to the game or at least taking the game serious. I been working a local pond in Texas and finally had success on a weightless worm. I am struggling with tying on a leader so maybe Tyler has a video on that lol
So if im pond fishing for bass, should I try to go weightless if possible? I have been fishing all week on a 3/16oz weighted texas rig without a single bite. Not much cover. Its pretty wide open. Ive been experimenting all week and starting to think bass fishing just isnt my thing.
If you haven’t watched my newest video on Texas rig weights, go watch that. I answer it there. Bass fishing can be anyones thing! You most likely just have to slow down more, get up earlier, and try new spots. Don’t give up!!
@@TylersReelFishing see, that's what I assumed, but I cant find those options for the same bullet being sold on Karl's. some brands have one but not the other and they're usually tungsten. ill have to settle for 1/8 and 3/16.
it'd be nice if you actually put in your equipment and lures and baits and stuff that you use so beginners can get an idea of what to use and where to get it, probably tackle warehouse lol

Great video, if u were to use just 1 or 2 different size weights to do almost everything what sizes would u recommend.
Quarter and 3/8th oz in my personal opinion from fishing mostly shallow water quarter or less 3/8th for deeper or windy weather
Great video thank you. How about a video about determining the rate of fall for a variety of conditions the bass prefer?
It’s more dependent on the bottom composition and depth than bass mood to me
