Currently building a boardgame diorama for the Battle of Pegasus Bridge (Bridge and Landing Ground for the Horsa Gliders) in 1/56 scale. I've built a couple of Dioramas before, but this is my first boardgame. Your videos are awesome and very inspiring.
Idea for the half finished wheat field: model a wheel barrow and scythe next to the empty section...add a plow on the opposite side...it should look like the farmer is taking his crops off and harrowing....early, yes, but it's fantasy!

I can't tell how excited I am to see the next part. Loving your work so far. After seeing your video, I immediately have to go to my own table to add some more details, wich I have had learned here.
Hope all is well my Canadian friend. @ 9:14 you mentioned spraying dry terrain w a spray bottle first so the H2O/PVA doesn't just sit on top of the grout, you can also spray it with ISO first ( give it a good soaking) and it will act as a surfactant and allow the top coating of H2O/PVA to soak all the way thru the ground cover layers and bond with the PVA you placed on the bottom layer, thus forming a PVA bond all the way thru.
I'm not into your style of figures for gaming but your terrain is something that fits into any period. This is an amazing tutorial, a fantastic channel and your passion is inspirational.
Fabulous job! Just a tiny point, castles would keep the ground out to a bow shot away clear of trees that could serve as cover and concealment for attackers and a strong point inside as its "Keep," to which the noble family and retainers whorls retreat to if the walls were breached.I don't mean to nit pick especially since I couldn't do 1/100th of what you accomplish.
It’s really coming together now.It must be nice for you to see it looking more like your vision instead of a huge white textured boar .looking forward to the next video 😀
Oh this is incredible man. Love the cliffs and fields. It'll be beautiful when it's done and I bet you'll be in two minds about giving it away. I've only got one tabletop world building so far but loads of fun to paint. Looking forward to the next video.
it's really cool seeing this project in all the steps with your super explanation, it is coming out great!! you are right we have to support the small quality business in this moment, i'm from italy and here it will be hard for the small companies. continue like this man it is a really epic project!! stay safe to all!
It's looking good so far! The thing that I always love the most about your videos is I'll be like "hmm... That looks ok I guess... Oh... Oh that looks better. Wait... Oh that looks really good!" Then you'll do some finishing touches in the later videos in a series and it always looks even better. As always, you're doing a killer job! Super inspiring, super relatable, and you always put it in real terms even someone who's never done any of this before could understand. You're going great! Thank you for all your time!
Question sir! Following along with your methods currently. After grout has dried, and your ready to flock, you spray down water, sprinkle on the flock, and then cover with watered down pva? I want to be sure ive got a strong durable seal to play D&D on without it coming off and ruining all my hard work. How can I be sure to get a strong seal over the flocks? Thanks, and as always, incredibly stunning work!
This looks crazy. Very realistic and beautiful & the video quality itself is better. The colors are nicer and the color correction is better than the previous videos. You look healthier now ;-D ie. more natural, man. Keep it up. I can't wait for the new video.
Great video, huge project...😧 Sorry if I missed it sometime earlier, but the coloured grout looks a real money saver I’m guessing,(over buying ready made products), have you a video on ‘how to’? The Diorama-Presepe website looks very useful too, definitely one for the future... Good luck with the rest of the project, very informative viewing..👏👏🙂🔝
So far this is definitely looking like a great fallow up to the Wizards tower just like I thought it would. Keep up the great work. Can't wait to see more! An FYI on the seams. If you make the seams at a slight angle and use plastic wrap on the in cut side you can blend the joint much better. This can also be done with the cliff face as well. Just use the plastic wrap on the cliff part and add the "rocks" and "clay" stuff on top of that. Then once dry peel them off the plastic wrap and it should hide the seam. Another trick is to have an irregular seam that uses stacked rocks and such on the cliff face as a seam.
love to see you make a Skyrim diorama, it is almost like the one you have here but with a but more layouts and buildings. there is at least 11 major towns and a lot of little villages that you could have lots of fun making and trying out more supply companies.
Is it possible to spray the watered down PVA glue as well? I like everything being attached so that you can vacuum the pieces and I feel like just splashing it around would leave some grout loose.
I've put the two part epoxy containers in hot (near boiling) water before to re-liquify the components. Seems to work fine even after years of storage. Friend of mine who built a boat gave me a couple gallons for hobby projects and I've been using the same epoxy for years.
Incredible work you do Neil. Very inspiring. Question about priming... would you ever prime the board, say black before painting it? Like how they usually prime buildings and figures. I am going to be starting a 30"w x 22"d x 20"h project soon and was wondering if it is better to prime the whole board first or just start painting sections in layers as you've done here. My terrain has a lot of black rock and moss in a deep forest setting with a large waterfall.
Thankyou for Leppard spotting those rocks!!!! Please teach this to more wargamers and hopefully them them to use their black paint and modpoge for the shit it's meant for The green in the rocks is a great touch Also for where, use the long blond grass from woodland scenics (product has different names. Then dip the ends in tacky glue or spray glue and use your static grass applicator to apply very smally flocking.... Makes great wheat
