Absolutely love it! A little thing I think could make it even better would be like have a few figurines, maybe in hazmats trying to deal with the situation cuz ya know this is supposed to portray some kind of experiment gone wrong. Maybe some corpses and like guys trying to fight the kraken with flamethrowers or something, but that’s just my 2 cents, still absolutely love it tho, good work
I'm just amazed how accurate one can be with airbrush! Feels like it should go completely everywhere but it seems to hit exactly where you want most of the time.
Thanks Knarb! Yeah my heart totally sank when I saw that. There was a spot on the other side too. Made real sure the tape was tightly sealed everywhere after seeing that.🙄
Hey Neil! This video shows everyone just how accomplished you truly are in creating real world dioramas! So glad that you were able to fund your kickstarter! I rather believed that it would. People know that you create quality environments and would be at the top of any project! I am looking forward to seeing others creating their own hobbit hole villages!
Hey thanks so much, really appreciate you cheering me on like that. I too can't wait to see what others out there do with the models. It'll be really surreal to see the first pictures coming out knowing that they're using my models heh. Thanks again and hope you have a really great day/evening/week. :)
Your work is just amazing. Love this. Anyone complaining about it not being scratch built is just silly. This is no different than finding odds and ends around the house and piecing it together.
I really like the look of all the panels put together in a big section like you did for the back wall, really gives a sense of industrial scale that's missing from most builds using these kits. I also like the knowledge about how an industrial setup would work, makes it easier to decide what different elements should be coloured and makes it more realistic.
OH WOW... What a FREAKING AMAZING piece of art. Your knowledge in both industrial design and modeling is in full view and enhanced by the modeling products you used. Thank you for sharing.
Probably one of my favorite videos to date. I think the sense of menace and threat would be enhanced if there were a couple of scientists and soldiers reacting to the intrusion of this eldritch horror.
@@RealTerrainHobbies I mean, you say that, but don't let anyone fool you: it's always a game of horseshoes no matter what. I've probably only had the "perfect" amount of resin for a pour about 5% of the time :P
@@ThatRobHuman I may be telling you something you already know but if you want to calculate the volume of an irregular shape (and dont want to get it wet) then dry rice works well, measure its volume (pour it from a measuring jug) as you fill up the space and then it is big enough to easily clear out before you pour your resin. Wont be perfect as it doesnt pack exactly identically every time but will get you closer than pure guess work!
@@chriswebb9375 I have used that trick and it is heckin handy, for sure. More often than not in doing a bunch of little pours, though, which sadly it doesn't do as well on. still good advice right there. :)
Yes! Today will be a good day, I get to wake up and have my coffee with a new video from my favorite content creator. As always, really appreciate the hard work you put into your platform and projects.
@@RealTerrainHobbies very excited to have signed up to be a patron. Hopefully can move up a tier sometime soon but I felt like starting where I could! I hope it helps! I fully support your dream!
Hi Neil, I love your videos! This project looks great. I see you're using the airbrush, that's an awesome tool. I did a lot of airbrushing. Just a little tip, to prevent the airhose from pulling on the airbrush, just wrap it around your forearm once (hose goes from inside the wrist over the forearm to your elbow.) this will also prevent the airbrush from falling when you accidentally step in the hose.
Congrats on the kickstarter! & fun to see u work on a "small" project again! Yay for Luke, right?! & good advice about glue fumes. Mask up for safety! 👻
Who says playing with silly toys like this isn't educational? I learned what the color coding means in industrial settings. Something that I've noticed before is that when someone with real-world knowledge gets to apply that understanding to terrain, it always looks a LOT better. I had a geologist set-up a game board for a miniature game. He took the random pile of odd rock formations I had and arranged them to make sense. It was amazing! It added so much realism to the board.
Cool info that you used to work as a sprinkler fitter. I design sprinkler systems for our company. Love all of your stuff and the production value! Keep it up.
Only one thing I would have done different. I would have placed the LED in the Hollow in the Tank for the Aliens. Would have made the wires easily hidden, though I did like the Top Down appearance of the tank lighting.
Wow. This is aome amazing stuff. Just getting into the terrain side of the hobby, and while I am a dud at crafting, all these modular sets are amazing!
Looks great! One detail I think would have been really cool is a ripple effect around the tentacle monster. I've seen people do that by putting mod podge on top of resin and blowing through a straw to create the ripples. But still, the diorama looks absolutely phenomenal.
Ahh Dude Every time I watch one of your vids, you just blow me away with how amazing it always looks and this is no different. Just an incredible piece, and the lighting just took it to a whole new place.
Fabulous work Neil! Those LED's look really interesting - I've dabbled with many SMD LED's in my time, but not so many that are pre-wired! I think they'd be driven by my Conwy Castle LED drivers REALLY well, and give you a global brightness control pretty easily! (or one of my other boards for wireless control, but that's another story!). Let me know if you're looking for an electronics collaborator - I live for this stuff! :) Excellent video once again, thank you! (my Patreon money is always well spent with you!)
Absolutely incredible! I find it funny (if not necessarily surprising) how many people in this hobby have construction backgrounds, I'm a carpenter myself, lol
Hey! I got a challenge for you. I'd like to see you make a terrain piece that looks like a military map. With gridsquares, conture lines, a cross to resemble a church etc. But in 3D. That would be sick!
Great work! Really enjoying all your projects and ideas. In my imagination the little "creatures" are the offspring of the big monster and she has come back for them. I like the color coding of the piping as well. A good friend of mine is a professional pipe fitter/fabricator and spot on with the color coding. Bring a dose of reality to the project.
Looks so good! The lighting reminds me of the older lego games like lego batman! But the walls and structures give me personally vibes of some older anime. Maybe gundam? Or cowboy beebop? And of course, the monster is giving off exact feelings like bosses from Half Life.
Your after a fuse and the fuse you need is Gears of War and HP Lovecrafts Cthulhu. With a closing Star Wars Vent Room. Cause you don’t want it as a garbage chute.
Great vid as always Neil, well done 👏🏻🔥 the terrain pieces look great, although Luke's claim is a bit bold and I have to politely disagree with it ;) keep up the good work and lots of future work on the kickstarter with stretch goals!) 😂💚
Beautiful work with the air brushing. After stuff is already put together, painting with that much precision? Damn... The one thing that I thought really distracted from the overall look of it was the water being too calm and flat. A creature that big should cause a lot of waves, ripples, etc.
You have so many transitioning camera angles in your videos and a few very cool swaying camera effects almost like the camera is on a rail track. Could you explain in a video your filming process and equipment ?

Awesome work Neil.
A great use of the modular system to make your own amazing diarama.

This is awesome. Great use of those tiles! End result is absolutely brilliant.
Thanks man! Appreciate it. It was a really fun light project to put together this time around.🙂
My girlfriend and I love your videos!
That's so good Niel! I held my breath when I saw you had a leak in the resin, never a fun time, but you pulled it through!
Thanks Knarb! Yeah my heart totally sank when I saw that. There was a spot on the other side too. Made real sure the tape was tightly sealed everywhere after seeing that.🙄
Unreal diorama. And man ... when you turned that Woodland Scenics LED on for the first time... *chefs kiss*. Perfect vibe.

Absolutely stunning. We love how you used your industrial knowledge to add accurate details that might otherwise go unnoticed.
The light effects realy do the job on setting the atmosphere of this piece. Great to see it all come together so effectively.
I really liked this diorama. The ability to put things together quickly is definitely a plus
Yeah it really was quite satisfying how it all came together so quickly. :) Glad you liked the diorama!
What an epic build! That final color palette from the lighting really sends it over the top into the sci-fi vibe. Well done!

Fantastic. The only thing I would say is that the water could use some ripples and splashes to add movement to the monster.
WOW...thats cool Neil....😍

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I’m going to have to find some minis to prin and post some pics on Instagram maybe.
Wow!!!! Incredible results!!!
The LIGHTNING!! It gives this incredible build such an intense atmosphere... I immediatly felt scared and searched for a hiding spot 💜
Yo - glad the resin worked out for you.
Looks amazing.
Hey thanks Rob! Appreciate the tip on tinting. Too bad I didn't have the brain power to properly calculate the amount I needed though lmao

This is awesome. I love how you approach these. I’m always so hesitant, but you just plow through and make it look possible.
4:45 Catch of the Day! 😆
Seriously though, that thing is wicked cool.
Cool info that you used to work as a sprinkler fitter. I design sprinkler systems for our company. Love all of your stuff and the production value! Keep it up.
Holy crap. That is awesome.
You are so cool and I love you this is unreal
Eyyy thanks my dude! Much appreciated :)
oooo wow, this is great, ive just bought a load of terrain crates and at the weekend i'll be painting up my first set
Nothing wrong with building scenery from model kits. That's what miniature builders for movies do. It's not all scratch built.
Nice, I did some fire sprinkler work as well!
Super build! Love the colors, they really add to that industrial alien feeling!
Only one thing I would have done different. I would have placed the LED in the Hollow in the Tank for the Aliens. Would have made the wires easily hidden, though I did like the Top Down appearance of the tank lighting.
Love your lighting.
Absolutely looks great. I think that I would have maybe hidden the wires for the tank LEDs inside of the pipe work, but that's just me.
Always amazing end result!
Killer build, Neil! Such an awesome story being told, and some cool info about color coding at industrial sites. Thanks for sharing that!
Wow. This is aome amazing stuff. Just getting into the terrain side of the hobby, and while I am a dud at crafting, all these modular sets are amazing!
That's a great build. Good job.
Wishing you and your family good health❤️
Having just watched you finished the mighty tavern - you moved onto this masterpiece. Outstanding, GG!
Rewatching this video. I thought I'd already commented, but it seems not. I love the pacing - and of course the model.
Hey thanks man, appreciate it. I was a bit rushed on this one with the edit so glad to hear your thought the pacing was good.🙂🍻
Oh and the model too of course lol

nothing wrong with scratch building what you need, years ago i was into D&D and Warhammer and i would build all my terrain
Turned out frikin' amazing! Love it!
