My favorite Hall & Oates song!! It's not "Where do we find this music?" We had the pleasure of living it. I'm just grateful you're discovering it. Enjoy!! 🎵
Daryl Hall and Sara Allen although never married had a personal relationship that would end up lasting more than 30 years. Hall was inspired enough by his feelings for Allen that he wrote the highly personal song. "It was a song that came completely out of my heart. I’ve said this many times - it was a postcard. It’s short and sweet and to the point,” said Hall.
That’s why that line, If you feel like leaving, you know you can go, but why don’t you stay until tomorrow, is so perfect. They never got married but stayed until tomorrow for 30 years!
Sad they split because of her younger sister dying (she was their writing partner). Sara said it was like losing a child & the grief, their relationship couldn't take it.

A love song at its finest. Back in the day, they wrote songs to tell a woman what she meant to him. It's not about money, or wealth or cars, it's the You and Me forever. If you feel like leaving, you know you can go, but why not stay until tomorrow? He respects her as an equal, a partner, a soulmate. Still makes my heart melt all these years later
I remember the street I was driving down in my mom's car when I first heard this song on the radio. I'll never forget it, obviously I haven't forgotten. It was something I hadn't heard that moved me like Bill Withers "Ain't No Sunshine." so so good.
