Nice video! Saw it from your Reddit post. Here are a few tips that'll hopefully help you improve: I noticed that you were releasing your mini turbos in some shortcuts where holding a drift would be better. For example, on the shroomless 1 star Big Blue shortcut, you released your mini turbo and hopped to clear the gap. However, that's actually slowed than taking the normal path. Instead, you want to hold your mini turbo while clearing the gap. Holding down on your joystick will make you be able to still clear the gap while charging a purple mini turbo in the air. On the Rainbow Road road change, it was pretty much the same - you released your mini turbo, but you're actually supposed to hold it and release it as soon as you land. That way, you can charge an orange or even a purple mini turbo in the air. 1:56 You can actually not trick there, so drifting off the cliff is a lot better since it aligns you better to not bonk on the wall. You also don't have to stay in the off-road for as long as you did before using your first mushroom. 2:06 You can actually do that shortcut by starting a left drift as soon as you're about to clear the gap. However, you have to release an orange mini turbo and hop to align yourself for that, since getting a purple mini turbo would mess up your line for the shortcut completely. And of course, break drifting is essential for that shortcut. Also, the reason you were inconsistent with the Dragon Driftway shortcut is actually not because of Shortcat's explanation sucking. The difference is that you sometimes did three hops and sometimes did one, while doing two hops is optimal and lines you up excellently. You also have to know that doing a coyote jump is important (coyote jump = hop when you're basically not even touching the ground anymore). Furthermore, here are a few things that are important for the Mute City shroomless shortcut: You should not aim for the boost panel before the shortcut. I know it's tempting, but it sets you up in a bad line and is also slower. Instead, you want to cut it tighter and charge a purple mini turbo to the left edge. Then it's also important to release your blue mini turbo early so that you don't have a mini turbo while being in the off-road, since that would immediately make you lose all your speed. Releasing the blue mini turbo too early is obviously still bad. And as Shortcat also said, you should be pretty close to the wall, since that'll make it easier. Really hope you see this, and if you do, I hope it helps :)
Well don't worry this comment was hard to miss lmaoo. These are awesome thanks for taking the time to write them all down! Ill work on them in my next practice session
whenever youtube shoves videos by pretty much unknown creators in my feed i write them off instantly but for some reason i watched this and im pleasently surprised. i would love to see more videos from you. keep it up!
There is no way you need the mute city shortcut for online play. I am platinum in lounge and I either just don't do it and go around or charge a super mini turbo on the offroad to get me enough distance to clear the gap anyway, i wouldn't worry about it unless it's a track you pick for yourself or gets picked very often in your competitive lobbies. It generally doesn't get picked too much I find something silly like the yoshi's island cloud grab a lot harder than the dragon driftway nisc For that one you're drifting way too wide on the turn before, what I'd recommend is you go tighter, get two counter hops to the left and then mt over the gap, if you get the mini turbo as long as it's not super early you should make it every time This also allows you to hopefully pick up to the two inside coins
Really nice and well edited video. If you want something a little harder on your winter arc you could try a 200cc shortcut challenge. Leave a comment if you are intrested.
Yo i could coach you if you want some mechanic help to improve your play. I love your content and felt as this would be a nice bit of a way to show you.
