  • The harem genre once dominated the anime medium. However, that's no longer the case. The genre has long since died out. Being merely sub genre in things like ecchi and isekai. So today lets take a look back at the last great harem anime of our time. The World God only knows or Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai.

Lionard Kirsch Because the Isekai genre has risen to the same popularity as the Harem genre back in its peak years. Like how there once was dozens upon dozens of harem anime, these days a lot of people are creating isekai anime, light novels, and manga. The Isekai genre mirrors what the Harem genre was back in its prime. If you look at the patterns, it’s very similar.

Oh my God, I'm so happy I'm not the only person who still longs for this anime. It seems like no one actually talks about it if not for a quick mention of something like that.
This was the first anime I ever really loved. Like, I saw a lot of stuff before, and liked most of it, but I really fell in love with TWGOK. It was the first manga I ever read.
Every time I get back to this series, I find something new to love about it. Watching/reading it as a 14 years old is completely different thing to doing so at age 22. The things each character both learns and teaches to each other and to the audience will forever be burned in my memory.
I have a lot of problems with it. With both the manga and the adaptation. But I will forever love this series. This world.

I had not heard of this before this video and I thank you for introducing me to a new favorite. I'm most impressed by the use of dynamics in the pacing of the series. There are fast, engaging portions and slow, intimate moments. The creators were not afraid to take a breath and it gives the series a cinematic quality. Thanks a lot for making this video. I didn't even know about this anime but that isn't a point for me. I watched whole video because I could relate to your words and message in it. And I do not think even about this "harem" genre. It's so much more. It isnt just about this anime or this genre. What you were describing could be found everywhere and anytime. Thats just how world and human culture exists. Good or bad, everything once perish and neither necessarily good or bad will be created. I know that this isn't something you didn't know, I just like the fact that you talk about it in your personal way to something specific and that you pointed on reality that something in this case - good perished and it can't be seen in nowadays animes. I also wish that these messages would happen more often in general because it's really sad when something really good just perish because of various "low" reasons.
For me it's very personal, through the years I realize that I love many arts of previous centuries which perished or were "developed" in twisted modern days. Fortunately in your case it's easy to point and give evidence of "these new things have worse quality" but in many different cases it's not so easy especially when much more people of nowadays thinks it's the other way around.. I love many things of past and the tragedy is that it can't be bring back anymore. Because it will never be the same and because we/I are not capable of doing it the same way as it was done in the past. Of course we can try, we can study and think deeply about the things of past and do our best to keep the good quality and with this also the "Soul" which every art has. This world can look like it's all about materialistic but it isn't. If we consider it and accept, it would at least help against total failure.
I hope it makes sense even with my bad english. It's just my personal opinion. Thanks a lot and keep doing what you do from the bottom of your heart. And like Miyamoto Musashi said - "never stray from the Way".

@@herbdeanisthegoldstandard8293 I think getting mad at the ending is one thing and saying the author doesn't care is another. I won't dismiss that there might be some authors that give up by the end, but most really do care about the work they put out. Also, even if one as a fan wanted a different ending, in the end, the author writes the story they want to tell.

I've just finished Season 2. RN I'm reading the manga before tackling season 3. Up to now, I'm just amazed at the quality of the writing. Ever since the beginning, I thought each arc and each story got better and better.
I can't but feel for Keima. He's generally unrelatable, but his situation is obviously painful to him, even if he doesn't show. Having to form connections with people over and over again, only to get them reset and forgotten at the end, must be horrible. It reminds me of Re zero, in a way.
Thanks for recommending this show! It's sad that it wan't able to get the most faithful of adaptations, but still worth a watch/read.

    TWGOK
    it was a harem anime
    I try to be different
giving a protagonist that was not the typical perverted or shy boy
or the one who can do everything
Well, I also made mistakes and I have an evolution
This is seen more in the arch of the goddesses where he has a catharsis and he looks really depressed
    and sorry in the end
and shows that if you have feelings for them and you can no longer do that mission
on the other hand I loved the anime
    it's your soundtrack
it's one of the best I've heard
is elegant and can be melancholic and full of energy
his direction is also incredible and each piece of music accompanies the situation well, capable of conveying what the characters feel
that without forgetting that it has many original songs, the truth surprises me, music that the series had throughout its seasons
its opening are allusions to oratory interpreted in English and of a conaiderable duration reaching up to 12 minutes
also that they can tell you what will be this season for its lyrics this is seen more with the opening of the secret of the goddesses
Undoubtedly a great anime that enjoyed great popularity and today continues to speak for its narrative characters
and do things a little differently with the genres he handles
    Excellent video

i just finished this series and i really loved the pacing and exploration of most characters (not including the ones whose arcs weren't adapted), and i really loved everything up until the very end. If I wish they could've changed anything it would've been just adding one or two more episodes to really explore the finale to the final arc and whatnot. Other than that, the last season was really shockingly amazing and I loved how organic the feeling of consequence fell on the mc (those last few episodes had me shook and broken lollll); I am super sad that they won't finish it but it was great for what it wanted to accomplish

To me twgok was the last hope for anime storytelling as a whole.Twgok did not go down in vain though. There are a lot of anime out there inspired by twgok.
Shoujo-Gekkan Shoujo,Kiss him not me,3D Kanojo and finally hamefura or Bakarina.Think about it.Twgok led to a whole new genre of anime, the otome isekai.
Shonen-konosuba,no game no life, even bokuben and the quints harem had inspiration from that tutoring arc in twgok.

The manga had alot more arcs after the second season and ALL of them were enjoyable. But the anime just covered Tenri's Arc or Tenri-hen(OVA, Tenri's story is crucial to the plot that's why they had to atleast adapt it). And then some introduction in the 3rd season to the girls he conquered that are basically important to the plot(Yui and Tsukiyo).
After finishing the 2nd season, I suggest to read the manga first (Start at chapter 40)
Then stop at chapter 113. That's where the 3rd season starts.
And if you are still in it, then there is one more arc which is the last and the longest arc in the series which is Heart of Jupiter(start at chap 191).
    Hope this helps

Watch the anime until second season. Because the first 2 seasons does adds many value on top the source material (manga). The Op and Ed is also banger.
But then move to the manga around chapter 40 until 113, then you decide whether you should read the manga or watch season 3. If you decide to watch the Anime, don't forget to watch the OVA (Tenri-hen) first, because that is canon and very important for the season 3 plot.
