  • Responding Code or Blues and Twos to a vehicle crash that had the interstate shut down. We were requested to drive South in the North bound lanes of the interstate by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The impact knocked the engine and transmission out of the vehicle, but the driver was walking around at the scene!!! Thanks for watching and God bless!!! www.paypal.me/RotatorRon yankum.com?afmc=26 www.midwesttruck.net www.guardianangeldevices.com/... I agree but also alarming to see folks drive nowadays with blatant disregard/ respect for their own safety and others. Talking and texting etc . Since the new vehicles are so much safer there is not that physical level of fear / injury should they stop paying attention

    • @darrenhersey9794

I think it is because the energy is spent destroying the car. If the energy is passed onto the occupants instead, it is bad news.

    • @plaid13
      @plaid13 3 роки тому +10

They are designed like that on purpose. The car is designed to absorb the impact by destroying itself. If it holds together with no damage then nothing else is absorbing the impact and it goes right to the passengers slamming into whatever holds them in. Seat belt steering wheel windshield whatever they hit first. The designers of that SUV saved the drivers life. She should look them up and send them thank you cards or something.

If you have the time to add time stamps into the description of your video viewers see them displayed as chapter markers to skip ahead/past the driving portion if they choose. It would be something like:
    0:25 Intro/leaving yard
    2:02 Driving on i66
5:51 Crossing median and Driving Wrong Direction!
    7:47 Arriving on scene
    8:39 Calling for reinforcements
9:43 Getting flatbed in position for recovery
    10:51 Starting recovery
    11:31 Hooking on
    12:55 Discussing wreck with troopers
    16:00 Securing load
    17:15 One lane opened/traffic moving
    18:30 Recovering outboard motor|
    21:10 Finishing getting tied down
    21:34 Final clean up/giving thanks
    22:44 Cab cam time lapse
When you put that in the description UA-cam adds those titles on to the playback time bar of the video with chapter markers. It's a really handy feature that makes navigating videos easier. Not necessary for this type of channel however if some people like/do not like certain parts you give them the option to quickly skip to the parts they are most interested in!

      that is silly.
everything is going in the same direction until the crash.
the car stops forward motion because it hit something, the engine didn't hit anything so it keeps going forward.
drive the same car into a bridge abutment and the driver will eat that engine.
besides, an engine sliding down the highway at 60MPH is a liability for Mazda.
if that engine hits someone and kills them, there will be a suit as soon as the next of kin finds out the engine was designed to bail.

Another great video. There is a saying in racing that the more the car destroys itself in a wreck, the less you worry about the driver. That's because the car takes all the energy of the crash and uses it to destroy itself than transferring it to the driver inside. That idea has finally (in the last ~20-25 years) made it into street car design with crush zones and other "features" where it sucks because the car is totalled on almost anything other than a very slow speed accident, but it means that you (the occupant) are more likely to walk away from it because the car destroying itself means that you didn't take nearly as much impact energy.

Mr Pratt, The term Blues and Twos comes from the UK, where emergency services use only blue lights and two tone sirens (Blues and Twos.) Sir what I think you have here is a case of the Red, Blue, Toot'n Scoots lol.
It does amaze me some of the crashes where people walk away unharmed. I've seen where the engine is almost in the drivers lap and after a simple door pop the driver just wiggles out without a scratch on them. As others have said here already, it shows that vehicles are being designed safer. Now if only we could make the drivers operate that much safer perhaps we could cut out fatal crashes all together.
Stay safe out there Ron, see you in the next vid!
