The driver wanted it towed to his body shop...but that's probably a moot point. Looks like a total write off with the damage and the airbags going off.
Up in Houston they do that. They call it a “fix” up there. We don’t do that stuff down here. Either they pay for it to go where they want, or it goes to the yard so that insurance can pay for it.
Anyone can say they have insurance. Imagine you take a car somewhere and don’t get payment. Insurance says nah they aren’t covered we aren’t paying. Then owner of veh said nah I’m not paying either I have my car at the shop what are you gonna do. Exactly what are you gonna do. That’s why you are responsible for bill up front. If it goes to yard and insurance doesn’t want to pay. You have leverage. You don’t pay we don’t give up veh simple. 🤷🏻♂️
It’s always difficult trying to get people to comprehend that if on PD calls, the vehicle goes to our yard, it’s free-99, but if they want it towed somewhere else, it’s $242/hr out of pocket, and that time starts from when we’re en route, til we get back to the yard. Stay safe out there brotha

As respectfully as possible officer Davis has it going on man. Great job brother. The way you approach, deal, and work with others is second to none in my eyes. You’re a good man n it shows. A great towtrucker as well!!!
To those in the comments that do not understand why Dustin could not give an amount to the customer, it is done this way for a few reasons. 1 so the company does not get ripped off and 2 so we the customer does not get ripped off. I completely understand. What I can not wrap my head around is why it even mattered to this man that car is totaled. It’s got good under damage u can see n4 flipping the car and obviously the damage once flipped… this car is not going to be fixed by his insurance. I am happy this man was ok.
I see a crap load of people standing around and blocking a lane of traffic for something that isn't even on the roadway. They make it look like somebody got crushed. Lol
Each towing company is different. Some will take it to the shop and bill insurance. Not saying this is the case with Dustins yard, but if they take it to the yard they can bill more for the tow. Storage fees, gate fee, admin fees. Dude coulda just called Geico and had them send their towing company if he really wanted lol and they woulda towed it wherever.
It’s interesting to see where most operators start on a roll over. I myself position in my bed where are the tires will land on the pavement or ground with my mirrors, directly in the middle of the rear tires or the dragging tires. maybe not the best Explanation, but as long as the dragging tires are the pivot point, then you’re golden. But well done on this communication and clean up is a good thing.
I like gow he said the window was down as is was laying in the road broken lol good job getting that flipped i struggle on most capsized cars like that
I was in a rolled over accident with another car. I was driving a 2005 Ford Focus ZX5 SES trim level. It was early March 2012. I did broke my left ankle in the accident from the impact from the other car which was a late 90’s Ford Taurus. The road was very cleared of snow and ice. My car rolled over in the snow. I was scared but, when the first responders came to get me out of the seatbelt that was holding me in. I was lying on the ceiling of the car looking around with my left leg up. I know something was wrong with that left ankle. I was put in the back of the ambulance and went to the hospital. Luckily my injuries weren’t life threatening. I did talked and even joked to the EMTs driving me to the hospital. I went towards the ER. When the doctor touch my ankle that I felt the worst pain of my life. I didn’t screamed at all. He numbed the ankle to straightened it. I had 2 sets of 3 X-rays when I was in the ER. I had my leg in a splint cast in the hospital. I felt my ankle moved when I was put in bed. I didn’t eat my dinner after 9pm. I woke up the following morning another doctor that was planning to do the surgery in the morning. My ankle was straightened again with that pain again and was a little bit swollen, too. I waited in the afternoon for the surgery. I went into a smaller room to wait for the OR to be ready for surgery. It took a hour and a half for it. I woke up in the OR and looked at the clock. To me it was very quick on the surgery. Of course another set of X-rays. I saw my parents after the surgery. I was groggy after the surgery. I said hi towards them. After their visit that I slept till about 9pm. I had a pudding cup and it was just awful to eat it. I know it was good. I was thirsty, too. I watched a good classic movie on TV that evening. I stayed in the hospital almost a couple of days.
I wish that trucks, SUV's and crossover vehicles had the same tough rollover standards that passenger cars have, but those cars fall into a huge loophole that also allows them to pollute more and also to get worse average fuel economy. Sorry, I'll get off of my soapbox now! The people in your service area are really luck to have a man like you that is smart enough to figure how to solve the most complicated conditions, like getting a dead electric Hummer EV out of a homeowners garage. @Towtruck_Dustin yup remote only knows one speed, but I does come in very handy alot of the times. Like other guy said on recovery & loading onto bed and being able to steer vehicle. I really love having it.

In insurance terms, this was a recovery. Meaning, you recover the asset at any means necessary. That being said, this was an easy pull. At no point was there risk of damaging the suspension. In fact, the frame slots aren’t even recovery points, and are only for securement. There would be way more chance of hurting the unibody, which would be way easier for insurance to claim negligence.

I’m not giving him a quote before the work is done, because like you said, at that point, everything is based on time. If I give him a price and get told to hold up, then the price changes.
