HEAD ON CRASH CODE RESPONSE DOUBLE TIME

- Hello Ladies & Gentlemen and as always, thank you for watching!!! Today, the Missouri State Highway Patrol has requested that we "expedite", which authorizes us to run Code. We do not get to make that decision to run Code, we have to be given authorization. I know it is strange to a lot of people seeing and hearing a towing/recovery unit running lights and sirens, but, here in Missouri, the state recognizes us as Emergency Services. revisor.mo.gov/main/OneSectio... Anyway, today we are asked to separate, remove and clean up a two vehicle head-on collision with injuries and road blockage. As always, we ask for prayers, good thoughts, and/or well-wishes for all involved. Ethan and I are awake early to bring out our Peterbilt with a Miller Industries, Century LCG12 rollback, ramp bed, tilt tray, depending upon what part of the world you are from, to clear the roadway and clean up the mess. We have a difficult and dangerous job and we take it very seriously, that doesn't mean we can't have fun and enjoy our work. We strive to be polite, professional, efficient, and safe...and still can have fun. I hope you all enjoy this video!!! Thanks for watching and God bless!!!

My common analogy, "there are many ways to reach 10". I could have approached this (any) job several different ways. The approach method is important, but more important is achieving the desired result, safely.
Again, a very special thank you to all my viewers, family, and friends who having taken the time to show their support. May God bless and protect you all!!!

Coming from a fellow tow man that was once young like Ethan. The lesson of always wearing gloves will be one he remembers. Mine was splinter from the cable going through the palm of my hand covered in beaters acid and antifreeze . First thing you should grab while getting out of the truck.
Ethan does still have a few things to learn.
@@john1703 Definitely missing his PPE which is a very rare case with Ron's videos. My guess is he got asked to help in a pinch.
That's a hell of a way to remember gloves but damn you ain't going to forget them after that
I had a landoll deck splinter in my back for like 2 months
@@john1703 ya, like his ABC's.
The police departments in your area are very respectful to your needs when doing a recovery, it's neat to see them want to give you the road or several lanes to get the job done easier and safer
That's because they're out in the country. If it was a big city, usually not as friendly 😊
@@chris76-01 Even in the city's around, L.E.O's and FD all work together with Ron's crew.... Granted they are small city's and not anything like Kansas City... But ya they all work together and Ron's company trains with the FD's to...
Yeah they're definitely not like that around where I live
They also all train together multiple times a year for different situations and are well aware of each other's needs and tasks.
Part of having a good relationship and respect both ways.
Don't know why this came across as a suggested watch but I'm sure glad it did.
Really fascinating and - gotta tell ya, Ron - sure nice to hear someone not cussing every few words AND asking for prayers for those involved. So refreshing.
Pure professionalism and heart-caring for the victims.
I agree100%
I totally agree! That's something that I don't like to hear especially if someone has died. Respect others.
I appreciate that videos where there has been a fatality are never shown. Respect. ❤
Ron I am a fellow Missourian. That looked awful. Hopefully the occupants make a speedy recovery. All that said stay safe.
Pickup driver I don't think wore the seatbelt. Appears steering wheel air bag didn't go off and his head broke the windshield.
VS an immovble and unbreakable wall, the truck gets poorer crash safety ratings than that little car. But this wasn't an immovable flat wall, it was a head-on between vehicles and you get to see why I prefer the SUV/pickup.
With seat belt and airbag, the pickup driver would walk away. Possibly no bruises even.
That wasn't more than a few mph closing speed from the truck just ripping the top of the car off at the window line.
He indicated that all lived... That's good. Hopefully the injuries are not too bad and everyone recovers fast.
No seatbelts?
@@fhuber7507 Ron doesnt upload any videos where deaths occurred
@@fhuber7507 That's a vicious cycle, everyone getting a bigger can because of "safety", leading to bigger and bigger cars just to one-up the others.
Hopefully the stuff on the bed were fastened because those will become projectiles during a crash. Looks a bit careless, to be honest. Be safe out there, not just for your sake but for everyone else's.
Given the size and weight difference of the two vehicles, that Prius held up surprisingly well.good work and hoping the patient(s) make a quick recovery.
Not just size but stupidly high ground clearance on that truck.
@@brucewelty7684looks like a stock f250 night to me
@@brucewelty7684 thats a stock F250 4x4.
Dang, a big truck like that vs a small car head on is never a good outcome. Prayers for everyone involved to have a speedy recovery.
Prayers for everyone. People always ask why I don’t get a small type car. My answer is if it fits under or close to fitting under a simi trailer, I don’t want it.
@@jimmyssnowremoval1075It’s not the size of the car, it’s the ride height. I’ve seen tiny SUVs completely obliterate large sedans. The Prius held up well for its size and low ride height. Both vehicles are totaled.
At least it went over the Prius drive train. If that had hit lower, it would have been a harder jolt. But, yeah, heavy vs light, light seldom wins.
neither is car of virtually any size vs. truck with liftgate up and in operation.
i hear it's like Guillotine driving underneath those
Has anyone found a news link?
This is a very good example to what I have been saying about these trucks getting higher & higher all the time. "What chances have You got when Cars are much lower if ever in a collision with one" Not only that, but now having LED Headlights & not lowering them like in the older trucks. Time for theses Manufactures start thinking more on Safety of others!!
Absolutely!
Trucks are built to meet NHTSA standards for bumper heights. Have a problem with that? Write your congressman.
From the looks of that accident, that looks pretty bad. Praying for speedy recoveries in everyone involved. Awesome job on the cleanup Ron. You have one awesome and amazing team there. God Bless You Guys.
Modern cars are amazing. It's remarkable how well protected the occupants of that Prius were in such a devastating impact. Hoping everyone heals up soon.
It was a very low speed hit and that Prius was crushed! If that was higher than 20 mph they would be not here!
Older cars used to crash and neither would show much damage.
@@grizzlycountry1030 Yeah, that's because the occupants absorbed all of the energy, and would be dead.
@@grizzlycountry1030 because they put all the damage on the passengers and driver
Thats why lifted trucks are so dangerous as they override the crash protection systems on other vehicles. this truck was just low enough the car did not get completely ran over but a lifted truck's bumper would go straight through the windshield.
Ouuuuuch. Dang hope for a quick recovery. I've seen things in war and held friends in arms. Trauma is never easily handled
Thank you for your service Sir. ❤❤❤❤
Nope.
Trauma is hard to deal with. I have worked with kids with it. Not easy.

@@cclngthr trauma in all shapes and sizes sucks. But kids are absolutely the most affected. Their little minds and hearts don't understand why they feeling the way they do.
"because it's a Ford". Nice unbiased, neutral attitude. Cracks me up this whole which make is better nonsense. They're all designed to fail. Can't sell new ones if the older ones stay in action. Most repair garages I've seen have mechanics shoulders deep in all makes.
I think it's foolish to be brand loyal in the auto industry. Gotta keep an open mind. You may have had good luck with a particular make for a long time, but that's all it was, luck. GM, Ford, Dodge (Ram), Toyota, Nissan....They all have recalls, TSBs, and inherant design flaws. Flip a coin and get your best price.
This is what you call a professional, both to his colleague and to the police officers. He's very cordial and very quick and concise with what he does. Hats off to you sir for what you do.
Prayers for the folks involved. Thanks Ron.
It’s amazing the safety they put into these vehicles…you’d think with a heavy pickup truck hitting that Prius like that person wouldn’t survive.. thankfully they will recover.
Some people are like "the Prius was mangled from a low speed impact". Yeah, but notice how the cabin's intact? The rest of the car has crumple zones that are purposely designed to absorb the energy of the crash so that the passenger compartment is undamaged. It's incredible just how safe even a cheaper, smaller car than this is nowadays.
Some of those people think old cars are safer because the car would be damaged less. It would be, but that's because the energy from the impact would be transferred into the cabin and you'd be eating the steering column for dinner. Modern cars crumple so that you don't.
Thank you Ron and crew for what you do. Be safe! ✝️
Wish everyone involved all the best and a speedy recovery for anyone hurt.
Prayers for the injured and great recovery. It's always best to wear gloves working an accident anything could cut you or liquid like acid in cuts. Thanks for the video
Wow what a bad accident. Praying for all that were involved in the accident. God Bless you Ron and your family
I like the fact that Tow Mater is riding on the towing calls with you 😉
Another job done quickly, professionally, and most of all safely. Thanks for sharing this video.
Stay safe and healthy.
Praying for the occupant of the Toyota. It's a testament to the design and build of modern cars that there wasn't a fatality. That said, it must have been a rather hard hit, but the engine compartment did it's job and crumpled without encroaching into the passenger area. All oin all, a good recovery Ron and Ethan. Greetings from the UK and God bless.
Praying for a full recovery for the driver of both vehicles. God bless you and your family and employees
Wow, That pickup literally ATE that prius! I hope everyone recovers quickly.
Crumple zone on the Prius may have saved the life of it's driver, while striking hard enough to break the Ford's front suspension. Now, that's impressive engineering.
Hope the Ford driver has good insurance. Looks like he turned in front of the car
@glenerickson358 that's what I thought too
Got to love a good collapsible crash structure - it may well have saved at least one life today. Although looking at that wreck, I kinda wonder if taller trucks like this need anti-submarining bars fitted on the front end. His fender's pretty much at windshield height, and that may not end well for the other driver in collisions like this.
@@glenerickson358if he’s at fault, that lawsuit ain’t gonna be pretty
Now that hurts 🙏🙏🙏,, hope nothing really bad happened!! 😢... prayers to all involved 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I have to give Ron a lot of credit for the way he respectfully treats all of his customers/clients. This was a good example in this video. Not all the channels showing this sort of carnage, take the time to digitize/block out or whatever their process to protect the sensibilities and privacy of the victims. I expect the victims here had much more important things on their minds but it's an admirable practice.
God Bless you and all your family and crew I enjoy watching your videos keep up the wonderful work that you all do to help out people
Thank you for sharing the video. Very interesting to see how you do your job. Prayers for all involved in the accident. Be safe and God Bless.
Great job guys! Your fast work and professionalism in clearing the road under difficult conditions. Also caring and mentioning the driver was something special.
I just learned a new place to hook my chains up on a long bed pick up truck. I never thought of going to the rear spring hangers. I hope and pray everyone was ok. Keep safe out there always get home to your family safe. May God bless you and your family.
Prayers for all involved 🙏🏽
Ethan needs to start wearing gloves when handling broken pieces plastic will cut you worse than a knife sometimes ! Plus all that battery acid and anti freeze leaking isn't good for the skin especially if it gets into the blood stream ! Great job there I pray for anyone injured to make a full recovery !
Wow, I must say this is pretty interesting. I was an EMT for a few years and have been on plenty of motor vehicle accidents but never got to see this part of the accident scene…so cool!
Sending prayers for everyone involved and families
I hope the passengers are okay. You guys are amazing. Thank you for the work you do.💗
That is talent and skill and real precision! Amazing!
Good to see you back in action Ron your son did a great job while you all were on vacation
At 11:24 the message on the Prius dash. “Drive-Start Command Malfunction. Visit Your Dealer.” Yep, like that’s gonna happen! What an optimistic car. This Prius took a hard hit where it submarined under the front bumper of the ford and shredded everything up to the base of the windshield and splattered windshield glass everywhere. In spite of all the torn up look of the car, the passenger cell is still very intact. That was a very solid hit to sheer those Ford front suspension control arm bracket bolts. Which actually was a good thing for crash energy dissipation. All that destruction on the front of that Prius was actually to the benefit of the passengers in the Prius. You had a 7000+ pound truck with a truck frame do a whamo into a lightweight at 3,000 to 3,200 pound Prius. (Yes, believe it or not, a Prius is a featherweight car! Our 2013 model on certified scale is right at 2800 pounds.)
Agreed. all that crumpled sheet metal as the truck went over the engine absorbed energy that would have made for a harder hit if it had been lower. But even so, the whole engine and trans got shoved back. That was a hard hit.
i just wanna say thanks because of your videos a few years ago when i was rigging my car for storm chasing i was able to find a really good light controller the feniex mini 4200 i chose it because i saw you guys use it also and it does great running my roof bar and TA in my back window i even have it running aftermarket fog lamps
It never even dawned on me off what the tow person sees when at the scene. God Bless you all. Prayers said for both of the drivers.
Another well crafted recovery, Done in good time too.. Hope any injuries recover well and speedily.
Morning Ron prayers and well wishes be safe and have a blessed weekend
Ron! I think we would all love to see a video on your fleet! Rotator, rollbacks, supply trucks, etc! I've been watching you for years, something to do with my childhood love for big trucks I guess. I hope sometime we can get a full rundown of the fleet 👍
I'm also used to tow. Don't knock my '04 Ford F350 crewcab long bed. I have 265,000 miles and only have replaced a few things. Maintenance is the key. Rotella T6 every 5,000 miles and don't beat on it. I've used my girl everyday for work. Love you videos, I've been subscribed for years. Stay safe and God Bless.
Another quick recovery from Ron.....good job guys....stay safe and god bless
Great job Ron. Well done always. Hope all involved are recovering. Thank you for all you do
Well Ron never seen anyone use a impact on a chain binder before, but makes it easier I see. Job well done Ron & Ethan. Prayers for all involved in that accident. God bless
That was a first for me as well. Is the shaft there on all those binders? I've never noticed it. Great time saver!
Give it time: I'm sure soon Casey LaDelle will have a rant on how terrible they are, and how they cause global warming, impotence and higher taxes.
Good job man stay safe out there gotta love doing doubles love the videos

My prayers go out for the people in the small car that they'll make a full recovery. And prayers for you and Ethan, and first responders. And don't mock Fords. My friend is named Ford. God bless you and watch over you and keep you safe my friend.
I know you know this about the light weight on the front of tou tow truck. Blessings to you. Be safe and thanks for sharing. Praying for the car occupants and those effected.
I was an assistand body shop manager in the 80's. Certain ones never leave you. Every morning we walked the lot to log in any tows from the night or weekend before. The worst was a Honda Civic that killed 4 teens. They were speeding and took out an entire fence. The smell was awful. We moved the car as quick as we could because of all the prople that came to see it. Families destroyed in a blink of an eye. Another was a caddy that was flattened by a train. It was sobering. The driver showed up and passed out when he saw the car. Come to find out he put the car on the tracks in a low area train crossing because he could not get his car bought back by the purchasing dealership. He brought that car several hundred miles from his home and staged it. Nothing was adding up and he was arrested.
Never a dull moment on a job such as yours.
As a fellow towman I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve been asked how I’m going to tow their vehicle with one already on the bed. I simply point to the wheel lift 😂
Father & son = great team work. Be careful with the wrecks that have airbag deployment such as this one. I noticed the drivers side airbag on the Ford Pickup had not deployed, but the passenger side did. Awesome recovery.
Another good video, hope all the people involved are safe and will recover fully.
Shows why these pickups are scary to collide with if you are in a small normal car, that thing almost smashed into the wind shield.
Have you towed any electrical cars so far Ron? those scare me a bit if they catch fire since it seems very hard to put it out and it can flare up at anytime.
I have lived here in MO, KCMO area, for most of the last 18yrs. While I know that authorized tow companies can run code, I have yet to see a single tow truck/wrecker ever run code here in the city. I wonder if it just doesn't happen much here, due to the number of companies and trucks or if I have just never seen it, which I spend most of my work days driving all over the place.
I hope the driver of that little Prius makes a speedy recovery, that little car sure didn't look to good.
I was a dispatcher for a tow company for the whole of Australia and some of the calls were heart wrenching. But Ron I agree with you it's a Ford yukky, but in saying that I'd rather have been in the Ford than the revolting little Prius . I hate Prius they are awful little sardine cans.
You know what Ron, I worked for a local public school district for 35 years in the maintenance dept. Plowed snow for those 35 years. We always had six F350's and one F450 dump. That is the necessary fleet for the number of schools in the district. Everyone of the staff was assigned a truck. During my 35 years I had four different trucks. And I will tell you those Fords were beasts. Eight- foot plows and when you raised it the front just sat there no droop at all. The district bought salt in bags 49 50lb bags per skid. You could put two skids in those F350's and haul it no problem. Bashing Fords and you buy a Ram. Chrysler famous for their 13 wires connected to one ground point. Nothing but electrical problems because of it and remember Ford is Ford unlike Ram that is now Fiat and three French car companies owned.
Wow, this is a serious accident. I hope everyone is OK. My prayers for everyone involved in the accident. Be safe Ron.
Great recovery’s, thanks for sharing.
As a fellow Tow truck driver and local volly firefighter. Heart always sink coming to a scene/accident and seeing a car seat. 🙏🏽 to everyone. And Happy Friday Ron and the Tow Fam 👊🏽👊🏽
Prayers for you all
Wow that was a bad head on collision. Enough force to shear off one side of the front end of that Ford and almost take the top off that car. Ron as usual you do such a professional and efficient job. Praying for those involved in this collision. 👍❤️🙏
Brother Ron I love double loading. I work for Gbs Towing and Recovery out of Hampton VA. My first accident double loading was on November 2019 that was a fatigue and it was a week before Thanksgiving and a mother was killed . It was a Toyota Tacoma and a Toyota corolla . The chief asked me if I can do both cars, I told him yea. I love what I do. Alot of people know my skills and know I'm not a Rookie no more.
22:39 "baby on board", I really hope everyone involved is ok and will fully recover. Thanks Ron!

Ron won't show us a recovery where there is a fatality, which is good. He in his own way let's us know all involved survived. Prayers for healing always needed.
Hey Ron, I love your videos, Hope the family of the car will be ok
Ouch that looked bad! You both did a phenomenal job as usual and hope all is well for the victims
ALSO: little info tidbit for future dealings with toyota priuses and most bmws, their batteries are in the trunk area but of course gotta take precautions as you showed here :)
I had my 3rd gen Prius totaled when someone hit the back of it, while going above the speed limit in the right lane, accelerating to about 7-9 MPH over after reaching top of a highway hill, though was about 4-5 over when hit, with somehow the airbags did not go off, but was not able to drive it because the bumper was pressed up against the wheels, and as no warning lights came on, next day it was able to start up and warm up at idle like normal till the ICE turned off when hot enough with the climate control off, even though the impact had shifted the 12 volt battery in the back and it looked questionable to me, however nothing leaking that saw, for was thinking of replacing that battery soon anyway, but course whole car got replaced instead 😅
And a hybrid with a ~300VDC traction pack. The first thing I'm looking for is the big orange HV system disconnect. (The dash was still lit so it still had power, which means the HV contactors are closed -- HV system still energized.)
Most hybrids have a high voltage battery as well as a 12 volt battery. heck, even a Tesla has a 12 volt battery.
As far as batteries in trunks, BMW is one, but a lot of the Volvo SUVs have a rear battery as well. And, Jags. And many others. As well as saving space under the hood, the extra weight to the rear helps handling. And, batteries last longer if not baked under the hood next to the engine.
It did look like the regular battery was in the front. Prius C, so maybe it's configured differently. The drive batteries are somewhere in the middle of the car. Well protected.
@@jfbeamno, the dash isn’t powered by the 300 volt battery in the middle of the vehicle. The dash is powered by the 12 volt system AKA alternator and lead acid battery.
Damn, that was truly a David vs. Goliath crash here... Best wishes to both drivers to recover as soon as possible.
And, actually, i'm surprised and schocked that the driver airbag on the pickup didnt deploy. Especially since i know that undeployed airbags can be REALLY dangerous even after a crash. (I remember seeing that pretty old clip of a firefighter that was sitting on the passenger side during a extrication and got hit by a late-deploying passenger airbag.)
My sister was in a David and Goliath crash. She was the Goliath, in a Hummer. The lady in a small compact car crossed over the center line, my sister died on impact, the other lady lived. It was an accident in bad weather, and we don't wish ill on her.
Another outstanding job by both. Ethan appears to be coming into his own and doing well. STAY SAFE OUT THERE.

I like the coded calls. Sirens, the driving, the overall response. The longer the better. I understand for timing and upload it's rough for the longer times.
Lights and sirens are something we don't see on tow trucks in the UK. Just flashing orange lights.
Y'all doing a super job on recoveries
Good job Ron And Ethan, can't believe the airbag didn't work on the ford
I noticed that too, the passenger side did, but the driver side didn't deploy. That's got to be scary for the recovery crews.

Good work
Great work. (Always!)
Fantastic work 👍🏾
It met truck bumper to car hood/engine and car bumper to truck wheels. I'd not expect any truck suspension to be OK with what looks like 40+ mph closing speed impact direct to the tires. SOMETHING was going to break. It's just a matter of where the designers put the fracture point for progressive impact absorption.
them binders with the bolt for the impact socket is genius, i wished i had them over here in scotland
Thank you for starting every video with a small simple prayer that little moments means a lot to so many people
Fantastic job Ron. I hope the driver has a good recovery. As soon as you pulled the truck up, I noticed that the suspension was broken. Ron, you had me laughing when you missed the back of the truck. I yelled third time is the charm. You both did an excellent job getting everything done quickly, so that the road could open after the clean up. Have a great day my friend, and God Bless you, and your family ❤️🙂⚘️.
I'm just amazed you wheel lifted that hatch. I'd have been too frightened that the suspension was compromised.
He was supporting the one that would be compromised. I was actually surprised the wheels were still up right.
Same, my first thought was the Prius on the rollback and the truck on the wheel lift. There is a reason I watch these videos and don’t make them 🤣
Can't say I've ever seen a ratchet binder that you can use an impact on. Been a truck driver for almost 35 yrs, plenty of flatbed/lowboy experience, have a friend that wants me to work for his tow company when I decide to stop driving. Load securement not a big deal. Looks like fun and games just picking up a breakdown on the road. Whole different world cleaning up an accident scene.
The hazards around a wreck are everywhere I remember bending down to hook a safety chain to a vehicle and didn’t notice broken headlight and impaled my forearm on the broken headlight thankfully in 16 years I only had two injuries 😊
Thoughts and prayers to the driver of the car, for some time I drove a roll back with a spec lift and we would always tack this truck to a 2 car incident we found it was easier and quicker than two truck's it doubled the man power when the other driver could be doing another job and unless it was a multi car incident it was a one man recovery and a one truck recovery hear in the uk.

Prayers for everyone involved. Wasn't this the location several years ago where Talon's old car was in the field stuck between two power poles and your nemises (power lines) hanging above?
P.S. In the 65 years I have been driving, I've had five Fords and driven all of them close to 200,000 miles with very little problems with any of them😄.
Thanks for the video
