    Congrats on the relaunch, Matt!
This is an awesome intro to Shortcuts, you've not only explained everything about how to add external shortcuts, but you've also addressed the whole untrustworthy atmosphere the Big Red Button™ creates (:

Good stuff! Personally I like the security measures. It makes you really stop and read through the shortcuts before adding.

Agreed - makes a big difference in knowing what's going on. I wish they showed the steps in the web view too!

Hey Mathew, thanks for the great video. Can you tell me why an Automated shortcut that I created does not. ( I created a simple shortcut to start playing an Apple Music Playlist whenever it connects to a Bluetooth device. It will run but waits for me to hit the play button.) Also, do you know of a Shortcut that will auto turn on my iPhone speakerphone when a number is called? Thanks

I encountered this video randomly (on Twitter?) and was curious to watch it. But I feel like you're missing the ABCs of shortcut. As in, "what are they and why are they good?" I have a pretty good guess, but I'd never heard of them before watching the video. Maybe I need to go find an introductory video?

Totally fair, I made one of those a while back and need to do an update as well - I tweaked the title a bit too from when I filmed it so it is more about how to find good shortcuts rather than a true intro to Shortcuts video.
Thanks for the feedback, I really do appreciate knowing this was your experience!
More in-depth videos will be coming soon too and I’ll explain all that as well

I like to create a shortcut to open a image of my business card. Can I create a shortcut that a certain image is opened on my iPhone ?

I’ve gone through everything and I still can’t figure out how to make “a certain shortcut” I want to be able to simply run this shortcut and it locate “X” (friend) from find my app and then automatically get directions to them no matter where they are. And then ask each time if I want to share eta to them (but I can do this last one manually if not )
    Is this even possible ?

I’m not sure I need shortcuts. My imagination is not such that I can identify what I could save time on using shortcuts. Like the tip calculator. Just pull down to access calculator and multiply meal cost times 1.15 or 1.20, etc. shortcuts would take longer.

    • @MatthewCassinelli

Totally fair, especially that one - sometimes Shortcuts can be useful for making sure those calculations are exact, not just for saving time; some folks who have mobile jobs can do all sorts of pricing calculations or adjustments on the fly because Shortcuts can be pre-programmed for solving specific problems.
For financial stuff too, I’ve seen people doing price checks on Amazon or calculating tax on in-person purchases or estimating based on budgets too.
These are also mostly starter shortcuts for now, I’m going to be building out more specific use cases as videos here and sharing those.
I’d also be curious to know what apps are on your Home Screen, that’s usually a good way to identify where it can useful - feel free to tweet the screenshot at me if you’re on Twitter!

@@MatthewCassinelli I probably don’t see the value as I am retired and don’t have a million tasks to accomplish each day as I did when I worked. I enjoy you videos.

@@peterrasmussen3100 That makes sense - there's lots of ways to use it for entertainment or researching new things or communicating with people quickly, all depends on what you do with your technology!
I will be making more videos to help people understand the breadth of it, that is the challenge with making succinct and entertaining videos on something that covers so many areas - appreciate you watching though :)
